You can disagree with something and still tolerate it.

I personally don't find anything particularly acceptable or natural about homosexuality, but that doesn't mean I'd disown my kids or change my mind. I'd just accept it.

Sure, how bout kids saying the pledge of allegiance in school? Every day being pressured to say "under god". There's another example for you. And one that I personally don't agree with as a parent, but whatever, I saw past it as I got older, hopefully my children will as well.

I've had a couple of those gay kids end up on my doorstep after they were beaten (in one case) and kicked out of their homes by their families. It's heartbraking for them to go from having a home to having nothing. They can end up in a temporary suicidal state.

It's a risky thing for a kid to admit. Most don't admit it till after they move away from home. They usually end up being shunned by much of the family. In the case of my husband's family, the gay child's father committed suicide shortly after finding out his son was gay (he had other mental problems -- I think this was just a tipping point.)

It took 5 years for the mother of my daughter's best friend to come to terms with the idea that her daughter was lesbian... and 5 years (mom belongs to a fundamentalist church) before she'd speak to her daughter or even ask her to dinner.

I talked to my nephew this weekend who goes to the SAME school I used to go to and he told me there were whole groups of 15 year old girls who were gay and they even passed one girl around between themselves!

Sounds like the football team - except different genders. Still, I'm not seeing the problem as it relates to the gender (I think it shows lack of respect for others to be "passing around" one member, but how is the GENDER an issue?).

The original story is very sweet! What a wonderful surprise for the teacher and more importantly, a valuable lesson for the kids. I think it's important for kids to know that if they have 2 moms or 2 dads or if they grow up and discover they're gay, that they have experiences from their past that make them feel ok about it.

I suppose somewhere in the last 8 pages someone actually read the article and discovered that the kids' parents' permission was required for this field trip.

And FYI, our education standards are FAR more based on the Greco-Roman tradition than the Judeo-Christian, and they have been since before Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Educated people know that the Greeks and Romans had it right when it came to education; a cursory Google search on the history of education will show you why.

As to the "sin of none hospitality" of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is only part of the traditional historical position of God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah for its never ending worship of sin and lack of repentance. Much like the Modern world religion of eros worship, and inhospitality to those in need.

Not many women molest compared to men, but, I think boys have the same effect, (ironically) sometimes when molested by men.
Either it's being scared off the opposite sex or adoration for themselves and those like them.
