you are using circular reasoning . like most americans you are deluded into thinking the united states government is still on your side and has altruistic goals. Since WW2 the united states government has been manipulated and controlled by the bankers of europe via corporate action, who have already emptied fort knox. you wont see any recent audits on fort knox . prove me wrong. Now that they have devalued the american dollar by 95% we are ready to see the next agenda, which is to bring in the amero, when the dollar collapses after this stock market crash in 2008. they have gotten rid of guns in australia, europe, and the united states so they have a better chance of not having the military and police wiped out by bands of rebels who know what is happening. dont forget, the united states was originally founded by 'rebels' and would have been considered traitors or dimwits by those in england.. that is what made america free. it is only since they brought in the federal reserve act in 1913 did the american people loose control of thier own money supply. JFK was shot because he brought in executive order 111110 which gave the people the opportunity to use real silver backed us dollars instead of the globalist fiat money which is being used today. do you know what fiat money is ? immediatly after he was shot, the operatives in the government moved to cut off the supply of silver backed dollars and you can no longer get them from the us government. the executive order still stands, but there is no one in washington putting it in place. most americans have been lied to since birth, and end up like you..in delusional bliss, but the # is going to hit the fan soon and you will know what the gun laws have been about. i know this will blow you away and you will dismiss it a BS but, that is because you are like most americans - in denial or just ignorant of the facts..

I'm not a republican or a democrat... I don't vote, I am however an Iraq/Afghanistan Veteran, I served as an Infantrymen... I've earned the right to carry a gun, to not vote, and nobody's going to take that away from me... period.

This has given me a great idea for a tshirt. I have some guns and believe in responsible ownership but I need to wear this hippy tshirt. It will say " I DON'T PROTECT MYSELF OR MY HOME WITH A GUN"
I doubt this will cause my home to be invaded. I also doubt I could unlock the guns fast enough to be rendered "not lasting" when they attack. I'll make a sign too, and we will indeed see how long I last.
I have been is some rough situations, not as rough as yours, but I have never needed a gun to survive. Less than 1% of the people I know carry a gun around.

Removing weapons from the populace only takes the weapons away from the law-abiding citizens. Criminals obviously don't care about the laws and will have guns regardless. Besides, what's wrong with owning guns if you're responsible?

Besides, if it's a right of ours to bear arms, then why take that right away? I personally don't own any firearms, but I like to know that it's my right if I so choose.

What are you basing your views on? I certainly hope not a conspiracy theory website, or any other website or blog, for that matter. Imo, America houses some of the most diametrical-minded groups of people on the planet. Just look at the current election, to see how much people are NOT just blindly following whatever is said and done, in a passive, sheep-like mode. You really don't understand this country, if this is what you think. Everything speaks out against your opinion, from the publications, the politics, and even the music. I'd love to know where you formed this idea that Americans just blindly buy everything told them.

I myself don't own a gun, but have fired plenty when serving in the military, and am not opposed of people owning them (I may pick one up in these times of growing unrest). While the ideal society of "no one owns a gun, so no one needs a gun!" is a quaint idea, the fact that those who oppose the law or would use them with ill intent will get them regardless, makes that an impossibility.

Does the defense of the constitution ever get evoked by the NRA when defending semi-automatic weapon ownership. Or is it just not polite to remind the sitting government of that ?
Is the gunownership debate, framed only between home protection and hunting ?

The problem isn't weapons. The problem is humanity's inherant disposition to violence. We have always been this way, and we always will be. With my gun, I at least level the playing field if someone so chooses to 'schedule a game.'

And then there were the Koreans (think) that stood on the rooftops of their stores with guns in hand. Hmmmm, if I remember correctly, their stores were not ransacked and they didn't have to fire a shot.

A number of years ago, I got robbed THREE times, by some thugs that lived down the road. Reported it to the cops after the first two robberies and they did nothing. After the third time, I bought a gun, set up a target in the field next to my house and every afternoon at the time they drove up the road on their way home, I was out blowin' holes in that target. I never got robbed again.

It is just like that in the UK... exactly!!! If you have little miss muffet walking down the street at 2:00 am in south London or whatever, with a hand cannon in her purse, the thugs would think twice next time they attacked a woman... and I guarantee you the crime rate would go down.

There is no way to answer any question because you ask no question. You are looking for people to either agree or disagree. You don't define what it is about patriotism that bothers you other than expressing your distaste for guns. Your only purpose seems to be to start an argument between America supporters and America haters.

ATS is far from representative of Americans or their "Patriotism". ATS members are not even in the ballpark of the norm. Not knowing if you are in or have ever been in the US, I don't even know what you are basing your opinion on?

What we are is over 300 million unique individuals, with individual beliefs and personalities. That pretty well sums it up.

This is probably the most polite troll thread I've seen recently. You insult a country and its people, then you try to be so nice that nobody can call the thread for what it really is; trolling for an argument. You constantly say how wonderful you think Americans are but your "Patriotism Terrifies Me".

Perhaps you think we should all hate our country? We should hate the fact we live in such a wonderful place that millions risk everything to get here, even if they have to do it illegally. Why do you suppose they do that? Because the US is a terrible place to live? Hmmm, I wonder?

Guns? I live in this wonderful place where game to hunt is abundant, so I can enjoy the health benefits of eating wild game and fish as a large part of my diet. It is a shame so much of the world has not cared for its wild food resources so that their people could enjoy a more natural diet. How sad. Our herds keep getting bigger and healthier, while much of the world has eliminated their wild herds.

If I wake up and discover somebody is breaking into my house and I call the police, they will arrive in anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. In the meantime an armed criminal could do anything they want to me and my family while I wait for the police to arrive. That is why the police mainly deal with crime after the fact. They don't stop crime from happening, they can't. If I have a gun handy and know how to use it properly, I can stop the crime from happening in the first place and possibly save my life or my families lives. The bad guy looses and their are no victims. If they make it illegal for me to have a gun, then only the criminal will have a gun. It seems simple enough to me.

Good luck with your trolling project. It seems to have garnered you many responses. Perhaps you will have some luck getting people to hate their own country even though it is free and has an incredibly high standard of living. We all have things we would like to see changed, but we are not foolish enough to believe that change comes from hate and bigotry. Real change comes from love of country. Bashers and Haters just add to the problems, they don't solve them. Sitting around whining and complaining never got anything accomplished.

If you are not an American, let us know where you are so we can compare? If you are an American, stop whining and get involved.
