Any opponents of the LHC are just forwarding the anti-science, pro-religious control agenda in my opinion, whether they like it or not.

Arguments against science make me sick to me stomach.

I only wish I could have a small vacation to be at the LHC during the initial full-operation runs to tackle any ignoramus who tries to do anything to stop the LHC.

Scientific progress is the only thing that can save the morons(majority) on this planet from themselves. Unfortunately, it's up to the intelligent ones to make the progress, while the ignorant fight it with their antique gods, silly prejudices, bigot agendas, and general failure of being a productive human being.

The LHC is one of the most exciting scientific experiments this century. Nothing has more potential to reap massive rewards in the field of physics research.

HAH Wow, you are the ignorant one here. Science brough us the A-bomb, which led to the murder of thousands.

Science does just as much bad as good. I do not try to stop science, I try to avoid a possible mistake which kills us all. What good is science if we are dead?

Scince kills people everyday.

Times change but irrational fear of the unknown lives.

People kill people, not science. The A bomb came into being through the research into nuclear fission as an energy source, not the other way round. A man took existing science and created a weapon.

The LHC isn't dangerous in my opinion (as uninformed on particle physics as it might be!), but a human could make it so. The way they can with anything.

Yes man causes religion to cause death also though, so you could argue both science and religion have never doen any bad, only the person in control of them or following them.

Any fears or concerns could be solved very simply by a snug pair of underpants...

That's what I would do to avoid a Large Hardon Collision it would also keep any unwelcome black holes at bay..

Problem solved - the worlds problems are easily solved when you've had a glass or two of wine

Exactly. You just agreed with me. Man is the problem, not religion or science these are both creations of man.

Aye... I was simply replying to the anonymous poster who said religion was to blame.

But on the other hand... man did use science to create the A-bomb. But it was man alone that decided to use it.

I will be sleeping well when they turn this thing on.

From what I understand the black hole, which if created would not have enough power to light a standard light bulb. A far cry from the harbringers which lurk in space. All in all this is a search for another sub atomic particle and I highly anticipate the outcome.

Hopefully the religious zealots will let science do its thing and not stall this experiment.

just found a link to a live webcast of cern. will be on at the 10.sept:

Oh...my...god! This is the machine I've been looking for! The Doomsday Device to conquer the world!! I must take it over! IT WILL BE MINE!

OKay, seriously though, I see no problem with what they're doing. This is like some Star Wars stuff right here. You seen pictures of this thing? It's crazy~! If it destroys the world, so be it. I've been wondering when and how I'll die. Of course, CERN is like Leeroy Jenkins, they pull all the Dragonkin and whipe the raid that is the world. Nice.

Are you a scientist? do you have a degree in physics? because all i keep seeing from your post are , you are not an expert you have no opinion, without you actually showing us your degrees, and awards.

also to add it doesnt take a genius to become a scientist, just as someone who isnt a scientist isnot automatically a moron.

Here is a few interesting thoughts:

What if when CERN creates their mini big bang they actually create a mini universe that exists for a micro second from our perspective but for billions of years from the perspective of the created universe?
What if we (our universe) is but a microsecond in a CERN machine that was switched on?
Haha makes you think doesn’t it?

I have too much free time

Perhaps the greater goal of this project is to open gateways into other dimensions for exploitation of resources or technology.

Has anyone read the Traveller by John Twelve hawks?

that would not surprise me in the least, and it would actually explain plenty about the nature of our universe... in a way.

a mayfly lives for only one day, not very long, is it?

well, to the mayfly, it's a lifetime...

Well, Cern have spent over 4 billion on this project aye?

If I were one of the benefactors, I would want some bang for my buck.

The sad things is does anyone really think they will publish their full findings to the general population?

I think not, throughout history information has always been withheld from us.

Think of the implications, if the do find a source of energy – and announce it, imagine the economic implications.

If they continue their research and discover other dimensions with sentient life what are the religious implications?

Same thing with discovering life on other planets....

Perhaps this all sounds a bit far fetched but who knows??

If we don't destroy ourselves then it will help us progress into the next phase of our destiny.

Source of energy????

The LHC is most likely to find the particle that lends matter its mass. I'm not sure what the energy implications are for that. Do you?

Any black holes that could remotely be created by the LHC would be so tiny that they would evaporate instantaneously with no consequence. Read up on Hawkin's Radiation.

Don't you think that they have already done it and the Sept 10th date is the public viewing date.

For me I reckon they have already run the LHC at least once or twice and the next run will be for the news cameras, this machine if like most major investments are tried and re-tried before we ever get to see it.

Going back to the A bomb, the first one built was not the one used in Japan was it, they built and tested several, and I would assume the same goes for the LHC.

Tesla once said "the present is theirs, the future is mine."
Until scientists get their heads of their asses and see the secrets of the Universe lay on electricity, frequencies and plasma we will never find absolutely nothing about the universe.

The Atom smasher will only prove there was no stupid Big Bang and the Universe is not expanding... you'll see
