I am not 100% sure just yet, but Bush may be the best president in American history. I'll have to wait for that until he leaves office in January.

I don't know how clear other people's perception of reality is, but when I take into consideration the true and full extent of what has happened in the world over the past 8 years, I have to say it's been quite a ride and Bush and Cheney handled it.

America has just endured a fully integrated and sustained assault to every facet of its society and all we can complain about is high gas prices and a moderate economic slowdown and I don't even drive that often. Made possible by Bush, Cheney and Repubican policies.

When Bush and Cheney retire to their respective ranches in 2009, for life of quiet reflection and book writing, the war will be over and you'll all be able to see that this is indeed the case in fact.

No.

It isn't so much the political view he has, it's the way he goes about putting them into practice. For example, using an EO instead of the proper legal procedures. And his desire to be a "wartime president." And that he's a fake cowboy.

There are some members of his staff that I utterly loath, though; I think they use Bush as a human sheild to hide their own dirty dealings.

Personally I think he will remembered as a man of his times by history.

He did not campaign as a military leader, that was thrust upon him, and I dont really think many would have done much better given the circumstances.

My only real problem with Bush is that he has allowed certian un-named departments to exceed their mandates. In this, I thnk he has been lead by some folks who have entirely different agendas than him.

For me it is simple. Setting aside the thought that 9-11 was carried out by aliens, masons, or MIB I believe that Islamic extremists attacked us and W has kept them pretty much off our shores for 8 years now. The wars in Iraq and Afganistan may have taken the lives of 4000 plus Americans, but close to a million or more Islamic extremists have been sent packing to their 40 virgins. When you are talking about war loosing 4000 soldiers is nothing. Imagine the old days when 20000 died in 1 day. So I think he has done a good job. I do wish that he would have started a national draft after 9-11 and we would have attacked Iran and Iraq at the same time. But thats just me

Being an outside observer from Canada, I think Bush has done a good job and done the best he can. Unfortunately, the left-leaners try to do whatever they can to demonize the guy. Sure he isn't the greatest public speaker but judge the man for his policies.

I can only imagine what would have happened if Bore had won in 2000 and sKerry in 2004. You would have a vastly different America, and I don't think in a good way.

To the poster that talked about his performance difference between what he did for Corporations and people, please reread your post. Businesses provide jobs, benefits, pay for social security and well over 70% of the taxes in your country. Right now, USA is second only to Japan in corporate taxes at around 40%.
Does this seem right? What kind of backwards thinking is this. Since when did USA become a communist country?

You continually hear democrats who scream "tax the rich". Do you know understand why business move away and/or outsource their work to foreign countries?

It's clear and simple, you push corporations away and soon you have no more jobs. Bush tried just a little bit to attract corporations by lowering their taxes and gets crapped on for doing so.

Backwards thinking I tell ya.

[edit on 12-8-2008 by Cool Hand Luke]

No no, you have backward thinking.

OMG Im in horror of your post.

Nobody is trying to demonise him, hes doing that himself, by behaving like one, we are just seeing that and making a judgment of it, as he represents the people.

God you need to get your head checked out!

Hes an great actor, in other words its his intention to act like a bad public speaker, you need to clean those eyes squeaky and take a right good look at whats in front of you.

You said since when was the USA coming a communist country, need n't worry about that, its becoming a dictatorship brainwashed nazis state invading countries.

LMAO there is still people like you around talking nonsense for the most part like above

I have to agree. It is very difficult to judge the results of his actions contemporaneously. Both Lincoln and Truman were very unpopular Presidents in their time but are now revered by their respective parties. I feel that history will be a much kinder determiner of his actions then current sentiments.

Is this enough to answer post like this....

terroisists.................................... sheeple LISTEN the terrorists are attacking us sheeple. Go call the Shepard he will protect his sheeple. All the lambs grow up to be sheeple, never ending story.

He did not do a good job. How is going to war a good response to bad behaviour? think about it. How does going to the same level of behaviour as your enemy, give a good example for peace. How does war work?

Then think about this. The wars of today were created for you to go fight them. These wars are not against muslims or the other way around. The war on terror was propaganda. The 9/11 was used as a catalyst by your government. The 9/11 tragedy was an excuse to go into another war that was not needed. The American government want war, as been the biggest seller of weapons and arms, should prove that to you.

The American government put regimes in the countries, create terrorists, dictatorships, unstability and war. It has been the pattern for the last 50 years. Your COMPLETELY BRAINWASHED.

retaliating by means of aggression to its aggressor does not solve conflict.

Your need to look up the word peace and wisdom. Then find out how to get it.

A million more islamic extremists WTF are you on about. Your like those people I'd hate to judge
God your unbelievably clueless!

Respect bad behaviour? following a bad example, following the bad decisions of a leader, lieng to your country? resorting to violence and war? mishandling world affairs and turning his back on the envirnoment is this respectable ?

Do you understand the difference betwwen respectable behaviour and disrespectable behaviour. Maybe you were not taught that, so I can see why your failing to see reality. lol.

If you and some people dont understand that, then you dont know what respect is. This shows that this is currently a big problem in this world. Complete ignorance, lack of intellegence and awarness.

Alternatively called as sheeple

You know I don't hate him. I hate the things he does, but him I don't hate. He never has, or openly has, done anything to offend me. Sure he makes #ty decisions [scuse my language] but HIM I don't hate. We all make crappy decisions, and we all know we do. For some reason we think it's ok to hate HIM because he's the PRESIDENT.

We're all human are we not? I'd be more worried about the person we put ON the stand NOW than the one that's already there.

Iraq and Afghanistan. - Both were good decisions based on what we knew or thought we knew at the time. Yes the Iraq peace was screwed up, but the surge fixed that. Though they laugh now, people forget that in the first few days the iraqis did greet our soliders as liberators and with cheers.

Cut the income and Capital gains tax. - As a result the "rich" are paying a higher percentage of collected taxes than at any point in history.

Opposed embyronic stem cell research while being the first president to federally fund adult stem cell research. - While embyonic stem cells have yet to be used in any medical procedures, adult stem cells have been used extensively. His opposition to life-destructive research, coupled with suppot for non life-destructive research was an enlightened and intelligent compromise.

Fath based intitative. - Churches and other religous organisations have a proven track record of being able to help more people for less than governments can. Allowing faith based orgs to recieve federal funding allows the money spent to have a better and larger impact.

Refused to be Kyoto Compliant. - None of the nations that signed on was able to meet its emission targets. They did recieve substansialeconomic drag from becomming kyoto compliant however. The US during the last 8 years has reduced the growth in its emisssions more than any Kyoto Signatory though.

John Roberts

Samuel Alito

NCLb - while its not petfect and regardless of what people say about "teaching the test" this was the first major law to demand standards and accountabillity from our diseased public scholl system,. We spend more, yet get less in the way of educated children, than any country in the world.

HSA - while not a solution this has been a godsend for many people.

Was he a great president? No, between medicare Part D, his ridiculous caving in recent months to the enviro-nuts, and the way he stopped standing up to congress at all after 2006, plus his overly wasteful spending mean he was mediocre to decent at best.
But the reason history will teach our grandchildren more about bush 43 than Clinton, Or Bush 41, is because he began somehting which will in time reshape the entirity of the middle east. Two stabilised, healthy, economically and (for the region) politically liberal (in the classic, not modern sense) countries in the middle east, like Iraq and Afghanistan will eventually become, will do more to change the multi-millenial cycle of violence and opression in that region than all the good feelings and hopeful wishes int he world combined.

Thats my .02, for better or worse, and inflation adjusted.

bush is on my list of favorite presidents along with Reagen, Andrew jackson, van bueren, Coolidge, quicy adams, teddy, Lincoln, garefield, and a little of monroe and jefferson.

least favorites are, FDR, Carter, Clinton, lbj, and woodrow wilson who signed the money trust for the federal reserve act which doomed our money supply to the debt side and gave away control of our money.

bush has been great.

you cant make nice with these evils just turn the cheek well they keep comming and wont stop till they kill you and your child in the street. you dont know evil murders till you meet and see the terrorists. they see any turn of the cheek weekness and dont want peace ever.

i have been there !!!!!

the wars went very well we won them both in a month but this police action takes more work.

only 4000 dead, thats a world record of history, lease loss ever in a war, ever.

also you dont know how screwed up the iraq people are yes you can argue we shouldnt help these helpless idiots again i have been there.

the wars have kept us safe for 7 years its the price of the safety and freedom just tell bush thank you.

Well historically speaking… History has not been written yet.

sure it has. 7 years ago, 6 years ago...that's already history.

but see this administration, who dares accuse others of revisionist history, is even preventing that from being written accurately...the history from even those short number of years ago. they're already cloaking, masking, smokescreening, and generally denying and distracting us from the facts...things that we all have seen and witnessed and know to be true and false, they are changing right before our eyes.
