Geez guys, I go to sleep for a few hours, come back and still no dice?

I swear my dreams were tinged purple!

OK, so back to the drawing board for me, hopefully I don't drain another 12 hours of my life away to get this.

WTH kind of puzzles are these? I don't get it???? What is the objective and where do you find the puzzle that the OP is talking about? No fun man.

It would be easer to find a word that rimes with purple than to solve this puzzle!!

I saw that, too, earlier this afternoon. Oh dear. Hope it wasn't us bombarding their poor little site with activity and traffic they couldn't handle.

Their site was down for an hour or so then it came back up with that error message.

Oops.

Looks like it's time to go suck up someone else's bandwith.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to send the owner of the Decrypto an email apologising and explaining what we were doing rather than him think of it as us abusing it.

That might not be a bad idea. The word 'abuse' did throw me, though. That is, if it was even our bombardment of the site which resulted in the site crashing and subsequent error message. I'd feel terrible if it was us that did it but the timing seems awfully coincidental. lol

Okay, email sent...

Has anyone gotten the stand-alone version of Decrypto to work? I've tried, but it complains on startup about missing files, then crashes when I hit the start button:

Couldn't open statistics: java.io.FileNotFoundException: english4.sta (No such file or directory)
Couldn't open statistics: java.io.FileNotFoundException: english4ns.sta (No such file or directory)

Just put this together to send the owner, haven't sent it yet as I wanted to show it to you guys first.....

Hi mate,

I am a member of a social networking site called www.abovetopsecret.com. This website is dedicated to those people who wish to talk about conspiracies, whether that be from a believer or a sceptical point of view.

Every so often this website runs a competition, usually revolving around decryption of codes to attain an answer and lead to the next question. The website is currently running one of these competitions (called www.whatistheconspiracy.com) and a number of us are attempting to solve it. This is where your Decrypto online cryptogram solver comes in. It appears we may have overused it in our desperate attempts to solve this clue before our brains melt from strain.

I, on behalf of the members from Abovetopsecret involved in the competition, would like to apologise if it was our fault that overloaded your server and assure you that nothing untoward was meant by it. It is simply a large number of eager codebreakers attempting to decode a puzzle. We shall attempt to limit the number of people using the program so as to avoid this happening again.

Regards,

195 209 209
104
212 210 197 202 208 115
95
207 200 209 196 206 193

I got this using cryptogram solver

Looks good, I'd go ahead and send it anyway... here was mine:

Subject: Decrypto server down? (it was probably us, sorry!)

Hello,

First, thank you for the online Decrypto server; it's a great tool!

I notice it's down currently -- if it was because of high traffic, I
can probably explain that. There's currently an online
cryptogram/codebreaking contest at:

www.whatistheconspiracy.com...

We're discussing the current puzzle (annoyingly tough!) in this forum thread:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Everyone's feels really badly, if it was our recent usage of the
Decrypto site causes an overloaded server or a crash or anything!
Oops!

Thanks again & sorry,
Ian McLean

The guy really does deserve kudos, that's a spiffy application...

Edit to mention: Hmm, looks like a cryptogram solver might be needed to decipher my amusing grammar and conjugation.
Oh well, it's the thought that counts...

Haha, now the guy's going to get his email account disabled because of the sudden flood of apology emails.

As far as this puzzle goes, I thought we were onto something with the folding idea, but I've been wrasslin' with it for the past hour and I'm no closer than I was when I started. Arrrrrgh!

Oh BTW I have a dictionary expansion pack (word list) that Kellter and I made from ATS keyword tags... if you want it, U2U me your email address and I'll send it.

Might be useful, if the dictionary with your cryptography program doesn't have words like 'chemtrail', 'titor', or 'wackenhut'.
