What happened to the reporters who have tagged along with the Russian forces moving out of Gori in the direction along Tbilisi?? Are they reporting the position of the Russians? Surprising that they are silent now!

The US humanitarian aid mission is crucial. Georgians may currently be feeling a little let down by the West after losing South Ossetia and Abkhazia for good, not to mention the loss of many countrymen. If the U.S. puts together an effective, well-organized programme it may enable many to keep body and soul together and win back hearts and minds.

Is anybody else wondering whether the Pentagon has learned from Iraq and thought through the mid & long term consequences of current actions? Not to mention an exit strategy. My guess is Georgia will now be fast-tracked into NATO, with a multinational force in situ for years to come.

Yeah haha
I've just been thinking about how ticked off Iran will be, if the U.S does indeed go into Georgia they will be surrounded. Looks like this week will be heated as worse as the last.

An UN soldier takes picture in his armoured vehicle parked on the roadside as a Russian military convoy travels on its way on a main road leading to the Georgian city of Zugdidi, which is about 350 km (220 miles) away from Georgia's capital Tbilisi, August 13, 2008. Georgia accused Russia on Wednesday of sending tanks from South Ossetia into the Georgian town of Gori but Russia issued a swift denial and an eyewitness said the town was empty.

To follow up on Maloy's earlier story:

Georgia leader ramps up rhetoric in verbal war with Russia

"These are regular Russian troops, they go into houses, they destroy houses, there is all this documentary footage around that can prove it ... They are taking things like furniture, toilet seats, killing people, terrorising people."

(AlertNet)

What odds on Saakashvili conducting his next press conference in a clown costume with a horn?

The toilet seat thing is weird. Who wants a used toilet seat? What can one do with a toilet seat without a toilet?

"Hey Ruskies, WHY. SO. SERIOUS!? Lets put a smile on your faces!"

Ah, just picture that.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Russian soldiers are not at all well-paid. Many Russian families rely on the produce of their garden plot to stay alive. I have no doubt whatsoever that in the heat of war barbarous acts of looting, and worse, are more than likely to be occurring. It's just another way of expressing contempt for the enemy.

It may sound unbelievable to Western ears, but in this case the Georgian President is probably stating facts.

Maybe he's telling Russia in a different form of words that they might aswell take the toilets too because he's stained his pants so many times.

Tbilisi could be the place that changes the U.S/Russian relationship forever.

We can savely assume that Saakashvili daoesn't have a speechwriter. If he does, they should sack him/her immediatly. I mean toiletseats, who the hell would mention that?

Or maybe they took the toilet seats as cushions for the long drive to the capital.

Oh for Pete's sake, let's sink this silly discussion once and for all. The Russian soldiers, ahem, probably use very basic facilities. They've ripped out the TSs in order to acquire some creature comforts. Visualize the scene if you must.

Can we please now discuss slightly more high-brow matters?!

THIS WHOLE THING HAS BEEN A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!!

One moment OMG they are gonna take Tbilisi!!!!!

The next...we have nothing to talk about as the the whole thing calms down forces retreat and it gets boring enough to talk about toilet seats

Man what a week!

I am too tired to type anymore, gonna go to sleep for the night. Hope I don't wake up to see strange headlines with the words 'USA', 'Russia' and 'war" together in the same sentence...

OK, sorry, but after all these days of following this situation, I felt the need for some relief.

Back to serious discussions.

It's like you try to draw atention but you get none.
Now for more serios things, why are you bound to trash every move that russia does? You know everything for a fact?
It's simple, Georgia leveled S.O and as a result Russia is pounding Georgia.Things are simple when you view things from above in general.
