I think the time has come where we need to start seeing large numbers of dead cops. That is the only thing that will change this increasingly tyrannical behavior.

Sorry man, it seems like the protesting typist are merely offended that this stuff happens to people all the time and until it happens to them they will do nothing but sheepishly type their pathetic complaints, you are truely on your own. I realized this some time ago and have come to grips with it, it takes generations of this kind of abuse to breed real heros and patriots, there just aren't enough of us yet. Hey look on the bright side they didn't tase the mayor and his wife to death.

Pigs refuse to use common sense when confrontation is possible. See, the pig wants nothing better than to use deadly force from which they are trained to perform. Just like a circus animal, they have there moves to. Only instead of spectators being entertained, the victims pain and fear entertains the pig force.

Pigs will not do the right thing and grab a suspect in a situation under there control. The pig wants to use deadly force to keep the homeland security money flowing to there department for more training, weapons and more citizen confronting personel.

Pig shoots you and its a mistake, oh well, still a good shoot. Victim shoots a pig and its jail no matter how wrong pig is/was.

The citizen is a perp to be taken down defined by the pigs training.

I had a pig yell through my door he was going to shoot my dog because it was barking at the pig for pounding on my door.

Than they wonder why we think there pigs. No respect deserves no respect.

Ok, who shoots dogs? This was planned. The mayor must have done something to piss them off so they sent in a team and said it was the wrong house. Sounds like the perfect payback to me. You do something that is going to piss us off and guess what? We are going to kill your family pets. Then we are going to get away with it but saying we raided the wrong house or something along those lines.

Or they could have just got the wrong house. Hey, it happens.

I am surprised , with all these reports of house 'invasions' where they do not knock and come in guns blazing, that the cops don't open the door to find some little old woman holding an immensely large shotgun and grinning maniacally.

Here in Australia, we have gun laws that prevent us from shooting a perpetrator dead (unless we have special license for that firearm). But if laws were different I guarantee I wouldn't be caught with my pants down if a group of men stormed my house. I would shoot first and ask questions later. If that meant me getting shot down then at least I would have taken a few of the bastards with me

LOL@ the crazy guy calling for killing politicians, enjoy your visit from the secret service!

With regards to the dogs, I've heard of this type of thing before, if the dog barks or makes any move towards the officers, it could be a trained attack dog, so they just kill it.

I don't think it's a problem of the police but a politics problem.

The politicians are the ones who create the laws that give too much power to the police (or take away power from the people).

Killing people is never a good way of solving problems, specially when the ones that are killed are just a small part of a large organisation.

Do you kill some cops to try to get even? The politicians will created new laws to take away even more people's rights or to give more power to the police. Remember, the police never ends, they can always get some more, and the bigger the power they have the more we will see people on police forces that joined exactly because of the power they will gain over the common citizens.

Here in Portugal something like that would never happen, do you know why? Because nobody can enter someone's house without being let in or without showing a warrant. After sunset and before sunrise, not even with a warrant can the police enter someone's house without being let in.

This was one of first things changed after the revolution that ended the 48 years dictatorship in Portugal, before that the police could enter someone's house when they wanted, day or night, and it was common to be wakened in the middle of the night by the police (or the political police) to be taken to jail just because someone had told the authorities that you had some "subversive" books, for example.

The change of mentality after the revolution (the Carnation Revolution) saw an obvious change of the laws, and the change of the laws resulted in a change of the mentality of the people who entered police forces, from the mostly under-educated people that saw it as a good way of having a better life than common people (because of the power the regime gave them) the police turned into a force of people that (mostly) wanted to help other people and to help his country to become a peaceful place.

So, after this unusually long post, and in conclusion, I think that the "cure" for this problem is in the politics that create the conditions for this to happen; change the politics (and you have the power to do it, we did not had that power until 1974) and you can (and will) change the direction your country is going to.

Remember, it's always easier to enter a dictatorship than to end it, don't let it start!

They say "ONLY FOOLS RUSH IN" and this story of UNtrained armed men called police smashing through the door of the Mayor's house, shoot and kill the family dog's cause they were a threat to the safety of the raiders, BTW the dogs were Labrador's, put the Mother-in-law on the floor and cuff her. I'll bet after she heard gunshots she thought she was going to die. I wonder is she was in shock over all this.

The Mayor's lawyer will have a field day with this case. I wonder how many cops will loose their jobs and do time in jail. The judge who signed the search warrant
will get something out of this. How many millions do ya think the family will get?
It's going to be a LONG time to live this VERY bad mistake down.

The rage I feel about this case makes me keep my mouth shut.

I'm glad you mentioned that, because according to the Washington Post, no judge signed the warrant.

A Prince George’s police spokesman said last week that a Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and county police narcotics officers were operating under such a [no-knock] warrant when they broke down the door of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo, shooting and killing his black Labrador retrievers.

But a review of the warrant indicates that police neither sought nor received permission from Circuit Court Judge Albert W. Northrup to enter without knocking. Northrup found probable cause to suspect that drugs might be in the house and granted police a standard search warrant.

"There’s nothing in the four corners of the warrant saying anything about the Calvos being a threat to law enforcement," said Calvo’s attorney, Timothy Maloney. "This was a lawless act by law enforcement."

Jeez - Don't think while everyone was watching TV and eating frozen dinners, or were otherwise asleep the right-wing fascist Bush-Cheney Cartel created a police state do you?
Please elect John McCain and his drug addict, thieving, convicted felon wife so the circle will be unbroken.

So we have two posters who call for killing of all police because of this story about some cops that might or might not have been in the wrong depending upon the whole story which we do not have. Though it does seem rather grim for them and their careers. In order to get a full understanding of what took place we need the full story of both sides from beginning to end, that is what we do not seem to have just yet. It does though seem as if the police might have taken a very wrong turn down a path that will certainly lead to nowhere. One would think that the police already knew where the mayor of their town lived. If they knew (I would think most would) then this may have been some sort of retribution for something he has done. On the other hand maybe they really thought the dogs were attack dogs, any breed of dog can be trained to attack.

But my question is what about the other 100+ stories that will that have happened in the last hour across the U.S. that will not be told? What about the cops that have saved someone’s life? What about the cops that are busting the child molester and getting him off the streets as we speak? What about the cop who comes home to his son and is getting a hug and all he wanted to do that day was try to make things better for his son? What about all the cops who are doing the right thing and upholding the law and the oath they have taken? What about the cops that are doing their job the right way? Should they be killed as well? I once thought that most of the posters on ATS had some intelligence but I see that many are no better than those these stories are written about.

Who says the dogs are innocent? I bet they attacked the officers. If you can't train your dogs to subdue their violent nature you don't have the right to be upset when it causes them to be harmed.

It's a #ing animal, they act on instinct.

People broke into this guy's home, shouting and shooting their guns. What do you expect to do? Go up to them and lick their face? I bet you'll change your tune next time your dog just whimpers and hides when someone tries to break into your home.

You should also read more on the story, maybe you wouldn't have posted such a moronic comment had you known one of the dogs was shot in the back.

Dogs aren't bipedal like people, so your comment about the animal being shot in the back is irrelevant. Anyway, they're easily replaced. I'd suggest the two sides reach a compromise and the police department could give the family some puppies of the same breed as the dead dogs.

Probably because they don't want to tell the suspects that they are surrounded. What do you think the suspects would do with drugs as evidence in a home?

Thank you officer for warning me about you guys. Give me a few minutes to ditch all the evidence and I will come out peacefully.

Anyways I see a conspiracy here, the dogs must have seen something, crooked cops probably doing something illegal, so those cops killed them.
