The White House is Briefed: Phoenix About to Announce "Potential For Life" on Mars

Maybe they've known before Viking what Mars is really like and they have planned a 33 year story that unfolds with each new mission?

Anyway, we'll see what pans out in the next few days. It's good times ahead.

I also think that NASA is going to announce smth big. BTW, I have just visited areo.info... where you can find true color images of Rover and Opportunity panoramic cameras.

I conducted a small research and must say they seem to be very realistic (from the point of image processing techniques).

President has been briefed but who knows what next. Nasa took microscope images offline for sampling of growth. Soon it will be public.

The image shown is not a protein strand otherwise it wouldn't be released, it's far more likely it's trapped air. As for the other images, there doesn't appear to be any change in the images apart from the shadows, if you change the light settings you can see all the "bubbles" in the exact same position and the same size as the previous image, no growth no nothing, you're clutching at straws....

Remember the last NASA news conference you guys got all upperty about, "NASA to release some news about something", you all waited around and speculated and at the end of it it was some crap news about a boring pulsar or black hole or something. This will be the same

Much a skeptic are we? Alloyed Machined legs dont bubble. There is no Water Vapor in the atmosphere, so it cant be ice.

My Sources are the alt unexplained IRC channel where we have been watching every move nasa makes with this for a month.

remember that its not just NASA running the phoenix lander - the university of arizona is also involved.

maybe its the university that briefed the white house, not NASA...?

I suppose the reason for the 'briefing' is so that Prezzi can appear a little more 'intelligent' or informed when answering questions from reporters regarding life on mars.

I just hope they explain it to him in REALLY small words.

It just seems odd to me with a twitter status that implies the news is untrue.

If it was a hoax, the news would of appeared on NASA's official website - not twitter. In fact, NASA wouldn't of commented on the story.

The White House too would've dismissed the claim, seeing this is all over the internet.

I have the Nasa picture that clearly shows an alien being wearing a long skirt and it was printed on most papers. You just can't say that it is a stone or an illusion, you can see the body structure relevant to its position. We know there are aliens on Mars because Nasa showed us a picture of one....

It's not a figure, it's a rock about 2m in front of the rover... Using common sense and logic you would have came to this conclusion. Only the new people (like you) think it's a figure. You seem to forget the FACT the rover is very small and can only move a few meters at a time...

Anyway, I'll write again.

If we find out that we accidentally transported bacteria into mars and it actually LIVES there, that is going to be a huge success. It does not really matter if mars ever had life or not, it may just as well never have evolved. Point is, that it is habitable by microscopic life.

Such information, when confirmed, can be used to terraform that thing. However it does take a minimum of millenia to do it.

I'd say it is huge, and there really are no civilizations over there even if you just want to believe in the same way as fundamentalists believe everything that bible tells them. You are no different.
