Your standard of 'proof' seems pretty lame.

It hasn't been proven 'fake' any more than it has been proven 'real'.

If you aren't interested in reading the thread why do you care if it's open?

for the record, the images and the story haven't been proven to be true or false. as it stands, the evidence against is a bit stronger than the evidence for but I am leaving the thread open and the offer to the original poster still stands. u2u me and let's try and work out a method for verifying the images. If not, well, the [Hoax] tag will be applied and the member will be banned for hoaxing.

I thought the "Gray Area" was for people's experiences - such as they are. I tend to doubt the entire event, but I thought this new Forum was supposed to be for these type of threads?

Can someone clarify?

If this really happened, there certainly would be more than one person who witnessed it

question? to all those that are questioning the validity of the ops pics. if the first pic is fake how come the jpeg artifacts are identical in both the supposed UFO and the rest of the picture. I work in photoshop for a living and Ive just tried to immitate the atrifacts in a cut and paste from one jpeg to another and I cant do it. in summary. the ops pic has the exact same jpeg artifact pattern on both the UFO and the background in pic 1. Can someone please explain that to me?

because artifacts become random

replicating randomness is much harder than just letting it happen.

im not an expert, but (to me) this seems rather simple.

The second one in particular looks like a "worm hole" of sorts created in maya or 3DSM


of course - its true that it COULD BE real. Im just curious though - if its real - has anyone else seen it besides the OP?

a member just sent me something that might explain what trog saw. Trog, check your u2u's as this might help provide an explanation to what you saw.

I won't be posting anything regarding the u2u yet, for obvious reasons so please don't ask me about it. yet.

This is how they, him, them do these bogus ufo snaps splashing across the pages of ATS.

Take a snip of an outdoor sky shot...

Snip a pic of, as in this guys story, a wireframe view of a globe and toroid from Bryce 4 or 5.

Open photosnot and import both images while giggling.

Suppress your over whelming desire to hoot with glee, carefully now, with the image of the outdoor scene, create a new layer, than continue to remain calm as you copy/paste the wireframe image to the new layer and adjust the opacity/fill. Now bounce up and down in your chair clapping hands as you look on with self indulged pleasure.

Ok, now you have it where you want it and you select layer and flatten image with OMFG! this is the best yet. So you are all jittery with excitement and your licking your lips while curling your toes as you save the image to your LCD flat screen as wall paper.

Ya, your almost done.

You pull out your web cam, camera, cell phone camera, any camera and take a snip of your LCD flat screens wallpaper and *iss all over yourself with yelling and screaming you have the story of a life time.

Your so pleased with yourself you make up a story with spelling errors and broken sentences to make it seem as if it was so traumatic you hardly can think straight as your mind goes off the hook over your plan.

All thats left is to upload the screen shots to photobaskets and post your story with the pic(s). And.

Sit back and enjoy the show.......

We call him a hoaxer, and insult his credibility, then ban him from the thread and delete all of his old posts, denying him of his ability to defend himself and his story, then feel validated that he doesnt respond?! This is childish. He should be allowed to post again and to prove himself to us, not suppressed and insulted. This very well may be a hoax, but I have seen something similar. I posted it a day or so ago on this thread and it was ignored. Now, I know I dont have much in the way of credibility on this site, but I believe that this should be given a fair chance. I would be willing to stake my own life on my story's truthfulness, and I know what we all saw.
Moderator: He may have insulted you, but Trog should be given another chance to convince us all. If he is, indeed a hoaxer, that will make it all the more satisfying for you and us to say it, beyond a doubt. As it is now, this is still not a confirmed sighting or fake. I am in no way affiliated with Trog, I just think we should listen to him.

If the pics were of anything else, I would want to say he's a hoaxer, but this particular configuration sends chills all through me. I saw something almost exactly like this about 7 months ago. It was from a much greater distance, but it was quite dark outside, and I have dozens of witnesses that confirm my sanity. lol. I go to Centennial High School in Portland, OR. Please dont just write me off because I live in the lesbian/marijuana capital of America.

Right after a football game (we won. lol) and everyone was leaving, me and a group of my friends as well as about 30-40 other kids were around the back of the stadium waiting for our rides. One of my friends said, 'dude... check that out!' and we could see in the distance a purple-blue-ish shimmery and sort of insubstantial object in the sky. It looked like we were viewing a disc-shaped object from an angle and below. The thing was quite a distance away and over some trees. It looked pretty high up. The news swept through the crowd, and soon everyone back there was gathering in the parking lot back there watching it. Several kids captured it on their digital cameras and cell phones. I would have, and tried, but it was too far away, and around 9:30pm and the 2.0 megapixel camera on my Samsung A717 would not pick it up at all. It was moving slowly from left to right (no idea what cardinal directions) across the horizon. When it was about halfway across, (this is about the part in the story where most people just smile and nod-and offer me some tinfoil ), it brightened for about a second and something bright white and moving at a very high velocity dropped seemingly out of the bottom of the object. It fell very rapidly and pulsed with a very white light brighter than just about everything in the sky. The purple thing never slowed or changed its speed, just inexorably moving across the sky. The object it dropped fell out of our line of sight quickly, and after about 30 more seconds of an uninterrupted line of sight, the shimmering object glided behind some trees near us that obstructed our view. Me and my friends, at my urging, ran across the street and tried to keep it in sight but couldnt.
The whole sighting buzzed around the school for about a week, but soon everyone forgot it. I told my parents (mistake! ) and they didnt believe me or my friends at all. I soon just assumed that what we had seen had been wet helicopter blades reflecting off the stadium lights or some such other 'airforce explanation' .
These pics seem to be pretty much what we all saw then. If he is a hoaxer, I believe him to be an informed one (if thats possible). lol.

Thats the story, and I get the award for longest post on ATS!

And I am in no way affiliated with ATS (beyond being a member), or their staff, or any admin.

People have suggested that this is a hoax because the EXIF data has already proved that he lied, and because he is unable to produce the original pictures that haven't been through photoshop. If his story is true, why lie about when he took the picture, and why refuse to show the originals?

He was not banned, he was put on global ignore until he responds appropriately to the Mod.

His old posts are not deleted, they are temporarily not visible because he is on global ignore.

Right now, he still has the opportunity to respond to the Moderator(s) via U2U and be reinstated along with his posts. If he can prove himself with a public post, why is it unreasonable to ask him to prove himself in U2U to a Mod first?

I understand what has happened and have managed to keep the facts straight on what did and didn't happen just by reading. Why couldn't you?

For starters, I was kidding about the insult. the things said about me oor to me are not going to upset me. it's the internet, nothing is real and, besides, I'm a staff member on a site that focuses on aliens, secret societies and conspiracies. with regards to another chance, have you been reading my last few posts? I've kept the thread open and I haven't tagged it as a hoax because there's not enough evidence to prove or disprove the story. I was recently forwarded information that might explain what trog saw. all he has to do is contact me and we can try and figure out a way to verify his story. we don't allow our members to hoax the community as it makes it harder and harder for people with real stories to take that giant first step and tell the world what they saw. The more ridiculous these hoaxes are, the harder it is for the next guy, with a real sighting, to come forward.

I'm not looking for satisfaction in a "told you so" moment. I want to help spread the word, get the truth out and make it easier for people who might be afraid to come forward. Why else would I get involved with a site such as this?

For all the discussion on this photo, I find it interesting that some believe it to be a fake due to a "wireframe." A hoaxter with the skills to create a wireframe 3D object in the first place would at least apply a skin before releasing it to the public. I'm certainly not claiming that it's authentic, but you can't jump to the conclusion that this is a wireframe simply because it has a wireframe appearance. Secondly, you probably should not make such pronouncements without any background in photography, or apparently for some, technology.

It's an interesting photo, and the original metadata would be helpful, as many have pointed out. Looking at the image alone won't help us to get to the bottom of this until we can at least establish a set of parameters as to the existence of some metadata that support the image in the first place. After that, we can try to figure out what it is.

So I got back from the hospital. I am very calm now, and very level headed. I got prescribed pills. I also got a therapy session. I showed my therapist this site, and my pics. She wouldn't comment as to if she believed them or not. She said what is important is IF I BELIEVE THEM, and if I know if they are fake, and still believe them. She sounded very sceptical, which is fine, she did a good job with the meds she gave me. She did advice me to not come here again. I'm only coming here to say my peace. These pictures I posted are authentic, this I know. The craft was at my house last night before I went to the hospital. I posted a picture, but when I realized no one could see my posts I replaced my statement with 'no'. As in NO I can't believe this is happeneing. Some clown made a mock of my picture. Try to imagine it without the alien. My neighbors all saw this thing at night time and even called fox news. These neighbors are also crack heads and not very reliable. Appearently no one cares.

So I'm off as quickly as I came. I'm gratefull to the people who didn't bash me or call me a fake. I'm also gratefull to the few picture experts that said these pictures looked real. I'm VERY VERY gratefull to the people who posted and said they saw the same craft. This means so much to me as it makes me feel less crazy. It may not proove anything to the non-believers, but it validates me. Thank you.

What pains me the most is that no one will be able to read this, or my other posts. I beg the mods if they aren't government drones to PLEASE let me speak my story. It is in the "grey area" with blatent disclaimers that this information maybe false. Please let me get my story and my pictures to the public. Call it fake all you want, but I need to let others see this. Ban me, or not. I won't be returing. I'd really much like to atleast have an accurate history of the thoughts that transpired in my head during this event.

sure can! A low opacity paste where you can see threw to the artifact pattern. That image of a mesh is barely on there.
