Yes I'm sure the wounded soldiers in that hospital were waiting for months just to shake his hand and spend ten minutes with him, I'm sure some of their very lives and health depended on it too.

Who cares, I seriously doubt the troops in Germany give a damn if Obama or McCain visits them. Besides, hasn't Obama visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan recently, wounded troops as well? Or do people just like to push that fact under the table so they can act outraged that he canceled a trip to one hospital, boohoo.

People act like he's never even been to Iraq or talked to a wounded soldier before this.

You're exactly right.

Nicely put. Sometimes the only way to expose a conservative is to spell it out for them.

Boo hoo indeed.

It's funny how the Obama camp is trying to make this look like the military prevented him from visiting the troops, yet the only thing they said was, "You can't bring your entourage with you if you visit."

They said it would have been a misuse of campaign funds, yet sightseeing and shopping in France isn't?

Where's McCains trip to see the wounded troops, the sick kids, and the innocent puppies of the world?

Do i smell the stench of stagnant double standards again?

*sniff sniff*

Yep. You could call it that.

It's not just a stench - It's a full out assault on the sense.

www.huffingtonpost.com...

McCain declined to visit a military base for the EXACT SAME REASON as Barack Obama, yet no one made a fuss about that...

I don't know. I really don't care. This thread is for the pointing out of Obama's failing to see wounded troops, not McCain's. If you want, start one on McCain. I'd be glad to badmouth him in that one.

Its been widely reported that McCain frequently visits the Walter Reed Army hospital in DC with little to no fanfare. The latest visit I can find evidence for happened on June 1st. To his credit, Obama has done so at least three times as well, as recently as last month.

He probably visits regularly because he feels guilty about "not knowing" how big of a dump it was even though he was on the Armed Services Committee.

Edit to put "not knowing" in quotes. I find it hard to believe that a hospital within walking distance from the Senate isn't checked up on, and I find it laughable that people will say not visiting troops is disrespecting them when you have someone like McCain who is on the Armed Services Committee and allows wounded soldiers to swim in overflowing toilets full of crap and fungus for four years.

I wouldn't blame just McCain. Blame every swinging dick in DC for that. And it isn't something that just happened as soon as Bush became president. That place has been a dump for years, at least since the Vietnam war.

Politicians don't care. They get to go to Bethesda, which is much nicer.

You are correct, vor, Nice call.

Its funny how both sides use the troops as political pawns.

We should (both sides) be ashamed of ourselves.

I'd blame Levin and McCain, but since McCain is the only one running for President I am looking more at him. I mean there's a difference between being inexperienced like in Obama's case, and experienced and not doing crap about something wouldn't you say?

And if Walter Reed has been a dump since Vietnam, and McCain started his senate career in 1987 then that means he's gone 21 years without doing anything about it.

Not really. In this particular case, its such an obvious problem that everyone in DC deserves to be taken to task for it until its fixed, no matter which party they're in or how long they've been in office.

Amen to that.

McCain, Obama and every other Senator and Representative in Congress need to be thrown out of office this fall and replaced with new ones and a 3rd party president needs to win the election. Indeed, I do wish we'd have an anti-incumbent political environment this fall, not just anti-Republican.

Never gonna happen, unfortunately. Those of us, myself included, who keep voting for the lesser of two evils are part of the problem.

He only lost by a few million votes.

You are absolutely right. Prior to this trip,Obama had only spent 2 days in Iraq in his life. His last visit was in January, 2006, before the surge was launched. A two-day photo op.
Then he broke with the CODEL to do his own thing on the taxpayer's dime.

But he did find two weeks to spend on a trip to Africa to promote his book, "An Audacity of Hope".

Oh yeah, and he spent spring break in Pockistan.

I think it may have made a difference, at least in the way he is viewed by people.

Nobody that I know has the same political and social viewpoints today that they held 20 years ago. If they do, they haven't matured much over the years. People understand and accept that.

I'm surprised you had to resort to name-calling, HAL9000. Now where's your other half to defend you?

At least I didn't get into a hissy fit.

I just find this attack on Obama to be the lowest that I have seen yet, and that is a long list of lows, and lost my head. I apologize to anyone who took offense including you.

The fact is there are closet fascist on this board, and I was speaking mainly to them, not you.
