Comment edited to say that the new font size (esp. in thread titles) is much better for zooming, if necessary as it no longer seems outrageously large. Better.

I tried to fix it on my end, but that doesnt seem to work. Is anyone else having problems with this?

I was following that thread too, and I agree that it's probably better that it "disappeared". Some of the so called "qualified experts", I think, were less than they put forth. My opinion only, of course.
The same happened here too--poof, gone. Is that not how it used to be? I honestly can't remember.

Chamberf=6.....

I agree.....that thread was a problem.

I've just transfered my question to the ATS 2010 thread.

Odd thing just happened

I was sitting in chat having some fun when all of a sudden I got disconnected (probably on my end as the router sometimes resets) however, when I tried to log back onto chat I got this message...

"This nickname is in use."

It's fixed now, but it is an odd bug.

If the chat app is anything like IRC, it "pings" you intermittently and assumes you're still there until time for the next "ping." You probably tried to log back in in between pings, before it figured out you weren't there anymore. Just a guess.

...and the machine that goes PING!

Beware: Some of Your Posting History is Now Completely Erased

It used to be that if you posted in a thread that got trashed to the waste bin, your post would still show up in your posting history. You'd get a 404 if you tried to click on the thread, but at least you could see you made a post in a trashed thread and what the title of the thread was. It was also counted in your post count.

Now things have changed, and in my opinion for the worse. Now you see nothing anywhere if a post you made was in a trashed thread. It is deleted from your post history and the thread is completely gone *poof*. There is no record (at least visible to members) that any transaction ever took place there at all.

This effectively allows the deletion of ATS history, with the simple trash binning of a thread by the mods.

So are posts like this still added to your post count? I think they still are, but shouldn't be, and would like clarification on this.

And also, if you author a thread that gets trash binned, does this still add to your threads count?

And I believe that this warranted a separate thread outside of ATS issues so that members are warned of this fact that some of their posts, and their history, will be completely erased.

What value lies in providing links to content that is not available?

Is the content still available in the trash bin then, in case of disputes, or is it permanently deleted? We have a trash bin at another forum I can peer into at any time as a mod if I need to or if there is ever a dispute over what was posted. It would be nice to know that it is still there if needed.

No content is ever destroyed, everything is preserved... removed threads go in the "trash forum," and deleted posts (such as "manners" or "T&C infractions") are preserved in a staff-only forum.

Some people have been reporting similar problems with a few of our new pages, as it seems some browsers aren't treating the content as dynamic and fresh. I've coded-in a new expiration date into the header data of that and many other pages, let me know if that helped.

Why am I getting ads?

I thought ads were removed according to your own ATS point system?

posted on 16-5-2009 @ 05:58 AM single this post New colored tags to replace the mystery colored bar... A long standing ATS mystery as been the complex and closely guarded formula that goes into the makeup of the colored bar appearing below the points indicators in the mini profiles. The entire "black box" containing the bar and points has been removed... in favor a slightly more attractive system... Content Contributor Levels. The core idea has evolved from the thread, A new way to thank our members who contribute consistent quality -- no ads!, and has been refined to reflect the full spectrum of our members. Since we all desire to see the best possible content here on ATS, the new indicators do a better job of providing a nice "badge of honor," in an exceptionally clear and democratic way, for all members... with a strong focus on those who contribute content that achieves the notice and recognition of other members. The Thresholds Of The Indicators Are: APPRENTICE: Our brand-new thread starters who are just getting their feet wet, the indicator requires at least: 20 posts, 10 stars, and 10 flags. SOLID: The core of our contributing members who may not be able to spend lots of time authoring threads, the indicator requires at least: 50 posts, 50 stars, and 50 flags. BRONZE: The first of our elite levels also triggers the code that removes ads from the discussion board*, the indicator requires at least: 300 posts, 300 stars, and 300 flags. BRONZE: (exception) Members with more than 2,000 posts, but less than the other levels for bronze receive the "BRONZE" tag, but still see ads. SILVER: The second of our elite levels who see no ads on the board, the indicator requires at least: 400 posts, 500 stars, and 600 flags. GOLD: The highest of our elite levels who see no ads on the board, the indicator requires at least: 500 posts, 750 stars, and 1,000 flags.
