Just my two cents, but I don't really mind when this happens. I'd rather know up front that someone is ... um ... unreliable and proceed accordingly.

I tried the thread button. That was helpful, but it does bring up the post "out of context." How about responses to your post. Is there any way to track them. I know there is probably a video of thread somewhere, but what are flags, flag contributions, what are stars good for and what are all the points I might have be worth. Also, where do I find out about all these personal stats I didn't know I was making??

Another "tracking your posts" question please...

I realize that myATS stores threads that you have been active in... but... I don't like the clutter and I only like to store threads that are currently active, not old ones.

However, it would be cool to have an indicator for EVERY thread that I had responded to, at one time or another. Something simple, like a "dot" in the margin next to the thread title, or something like that.

That way, if an old or dead thread pops back up again, it would be easy to spot...

Thoughts?

Hmm it's just an idea i guess because it can be quite annoying to see those thread's especially when it's supposed to be an introductuion forum.

With regard to the Intro forum...

The way it was set up is that people with less than 20 posts can't start threads in any forum besides the Intro forum.

They can, however, reply to other people's threads anywhere else.

I've never understood why some people object to this because there are thousands of threads on every possible topic you can imagine. Twenty replies to other people's threads could be done in a day, or even less!

If someone has some critical info they want to share with the community it's really not that much of an inconvenience. Introduce yourself to everyone, participate a little and before you know it, you're good to go.

There are certain things we do to protect our membership from the likes of spammers, recruiters, or other problems.

This policy has protected our members from receiving u2us or seeing posts about free pills, adult sites, colon cleansers, illegal software, or whatever the heck else people try to sell off.

If it causes any issues, the staff is always available via u2u or the complaints forum no matter how many posts you have. We're here to help.

It has been well atended to, thanks to all.
It was not a matter of opinion, but a matter of identities being revealed.
Thanks to all involved.

That's my point exactly, achieving those 20 posts can be done so easily but as soon as members join up they immediately post a topic about 2012 or ufo phenomenon or something else for example.

That's exactly why I was suggesting making it so you have to have 20 posts to start ANY thread as it would stop new members doing this and filling the intro forum with random topic threads

Not an invalid point, but we attempt to err on the side of fewer restrictions. We don't want to make the first thread requirement overly onerous, and although it may seem like there are a lot of threads in Intros which aren't intro threads, when you look at the numbers of members, it's actually fairly sparse.

The 20 post deal has cut down on the number of hit and run spammers signing up to start some thread advertising their software or shoes or whatever. It'll never be perfect since we're dealing with people, but it works extremely well for our purposes.

Sorry, but i lost the link to where to send my re-design ideas. He He, i'm a former graphic designer so, i have a ton of crazy, whacked out....Uh, i mean, wonderfull and thought provoking designs. It will just take me a while to get them up and going. So, where can i send them (when thier finally done)?

And for the record...I am absolutely, 100 percent, against using Little, Fluffy Pink Bunny paterned wallpaper as a backgounnd for the ATS site. As well, no "Inspector Gadgit" or "Maxwell Smart" themes either. I know that the idea of the site is "Top Secret", but a Watership Down Bloody Bunny wearing a trench coat and holding a shoe phone, with a propeller sticking out of his head just sticks in my craw, if you know what I mean.

I don't know if anyone suggested such a thing, but i just felt that i should state my position on this one.

(i hope you laughed, and have a good one)

PS i do need to know where to send my (serious) redesign ideas.

Thanks, and by the way, eat more Hooters Hot Wings!

Peace

I would suggest you go to Crowdspring.com and submit your work there. We have a creative brief up and there is a cash award for the design we select, if we get one good enough that is.
