Details about the prostitution connection were not immediately clear. But last week, federal prosecutors in Manhattan filed conspiracy charges against four people, accusing them of running a prostitution ring that charged wealthy clients in Europe and the U.S. thousands of dollars for prostitutes.

The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of the prostitutes' bodies, with their faces hidden, along with hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with various numbers of diamonds, with seven diamonds being the highest. The highest-ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.

The case is being handled by prosecutors in the Public Corruption unit of U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia's office. Garcia spokeswoman Yusill Scribner said the office had no comment.

Yet another hypocrite caught with his pants down, I hope he stays in office. He should not have to resign, if pres dumbass can keep his job so should spitzer. It's the American way, allowing hypocrites to run our country.

Is that a reference to Clinton who kept his job after the cigar/bj incident or is that a reference to Bush 2?

The real crime here is that the poor guy had to pay $1300.00 that is crazy. Honestly I have a hard time calling someone who pays a prostitute a criminal. I don't see the harm in it.

I wonder what will happen when Geraldo gets a hold of this story? Lol

The only problem I have with prostitution is that some people are forced into it. I'm currently undecided on whether or not legalization would help these poor women get out, or on the contrary, just make sexual slavery look respectable.

This is the same guy who ran his own comptroller out of office when he was caught / indicted for using NY troopers to provide transportation for his wife's use. The voters of the state of NY and the democratic power mongers won't stand for anything short of resignation. The senate majority leader, Joseph Bruno, is already recalculating his power base, but he has to be careful himself because the FBI is already investigating him. Wonderful morals in the hierarchy of my home states government.

Hey - That is just eliminating the competition! And THAT is good business. Don't you want the Governor of New York to have a sound understanding of business?

Damn, I never thought of that. That makes sense, he was just looking for a bargin!!! Heck, re-elect him!!

Well I am flabbergasted when I turned into the news and this hit me today, we need this type of news, juicy sexual scandals and to think that it was with a hooker.

After all the American public needs to be diverted to their favorite pass time, TV propaganda.

With the oil barrel reaching almost 110 dollars and the markets is down the hill, election year needs a scapegoat and what else but a lame government sexual scandals.

But as we know this not new in politics, corruption and sex goes hand in hand.

Maybe Spitzer rather than resign he should step up to the plate and stand against unjust laws against prostitution. Laws against prostitution and drugs are nothing more than a way to keep poor people from making money using the means that they have available to them. I love to see a politician actually be honest for once. Unlike our x governor in NJ who resigned after have gay sex with a member of his staff.

I think sex slavery and prostitution are not the same.

Many, many prostitutes are sex slaves. Don't close your eyes to reality.

Well, we should go down this road since the topic keeps coming up.

Prostitution and Sex Slavery are not the same thing. I am sure most people will agree with this.
...BUT...
Many prostitutes are being held/used as sex slaves. Every few years there are stories from Chinatown NYC where they shut down a ring where many women are held captive/working off their debts to come here as sex slaves. It happens elsewhere as well.
It's not like there is a Union for them that can keep the environment safe and clean.

I never met a prostitute who was a sex slave. Most of them are drug addicts in my neighborhood. However It maybe a whole different story with these upscale operations. I wouldn’t know.

One problem.

Spitzer built his reputation in part busting prostitution rings.

The public is not likely to buy into his trying now to decriminalize prostitution.

Even if successful, it wouldn't affect Spitzer.

Well I guess he just has to hope for Hillary to win so he can get a pardon. He is a superdeledate right. Or will who ever takes over for him have control of the vote.

Why can't we in act a bill or law that makes any public servant who has to take an oath of office, ie. police, gov., mayor ect. that in that oath they are fully aware of the fact that if they are caught and proven guilty of a crime that they are sentenced to death! or at least life with out possibility of parole. They can make the choice if they want to hold that office knowing full well what will happen. I think this would keep things a little more honest because of the severity of the consequence.

We can't even pass a bill to take there pensions away. Theres public officals in prison who still get a check from the tax payers. Convicted of felonies while in office.
