Hi vze, you picked up on the lifeforms this is truely a hot bed of life. If you will look closely as I know you always do you should see tiny underground geometric bunkers.

In the background to the left on photo you should pick up on a tiny tiny transport vehicle. The sand with ripples is actually water and NASA has changed the color and texture to look like rippled sand. Look at the shoreline where the pond should be it has been doctored, and a pond to we humans on Earth is a lake to the Sandmaries and tiny tiny lifeforms on Mars.

The Martonians are close to the size of humans on Earth a portion of them live above and below ground. Rik Riley

Now the closer I look there's another face that's more Monkey-like over where the monkeybutt would be with withdrawn eyes/inset and curved nose. But what is really surprising is that HOLE is the dead open mouth(symetrical) of a dragon with eyes close together on top like a cone head, ridges in linear odder than chance formation. That's a large animal.probably when alive in the 10 foot or more range.

Here's an illustration of the approximate body style and head size your"monkey" actually is under the Nasa Masking and tomfoolery. The animal On this illustartion is alive and real. They have charcoal black eyes like most mars animals that resemble black marbles. This is the caterpillar body style variety whereas yours is probably a snake body, similar head size. Think of a snowman when looking for most animals with charcoal eyes. They fit inside the outline of the head symetrically toward center(pretty obvious) and few animals besides humanoids have light eyes or pupils, though some snakes do,oddly enough. Think of 2 black marbles side by side when looking for Mars animal faces.

Whoa!

What's Gordon Shumway doing on Mars?!

I thought he crash-landed on Earth back in '86.

Perhaps there's cats on Mars too, I mean; something has to be present to keep the rat population in check.

This will generally show you some of the range of animals I found with similarities to yours(central masked figure. The last pic is an artistic guide that most closely fits your animal as I understand it,but with less rugged head and vertebrae since the gravity makes it easy for a lighter build to stand upright with less mass and strength than here on Earth. The skull size of your creature is smaller than this illustration, but similar and humanesque.

Calm down, man...er...alien...

It's all good.

Edit to add:

Incidentally, IMHO, the "poof" of sand in the OP's image is simply the visual effect of the feathering of the shadow on the edge of the rough textured, lighter colored rock's rounded surface.

The sand was not moving when this image was captured, in fact, it's not even sand.

Finding the waterhole.First a stray thought,as I saw the logo for USA football New England Patrtiots team with a face and a trailing off body,it came to me as a great illustration for much of the Mars life I've uncovered in 4 years. In Africa, the large herds live and die by migrating to waterholes, since they are some big animals and have big water needs. When theRovers team was deciding around 2000 or so where the 2 landing sites would be for Spirit and Opportunity they were looking for the watering holes. If you find an abundance of large fossils like dinosaurs with big water needs, then ,like Earth the big ones may be long gone, but the geology is still there and the big ones mark the area as a former at least "watering hole." If there's an animal with a large body and skull pertially buried with head sticking out of a hill the smaller animals can use that for shelter and you have an instant cave that lasts for centuries and expands underground with more digging by successive generations of tennants. Mars UNDERGROUND. That's what I was looking for with the rovers.

The thing that's amazing about this photograph is the fact that humanity has had the brilliance to send a camera up there and take this magnificent landscape of an alien world.

Yeah man. I'm with you. I posted a picture of that lower elevation area of the wide high resolution picture from the rover and what looks to be ridges or grooves in the sand, possibly indicating that water used to be there.

I think one person replied to that and that's it.

I guess wild speculation and trying to make rocks in to life is more entertaining than a dried up pond/lake to some.

This is what I see in the OP picture in question. I really wanted to believe this one at first. I always want to believe it, and I was mad when I saw it this way. But to me, it looks like a rock. I have sketched out what I see as far as the formation goes.

Does anyone else agree with me on this one?

Your "eternal image" link isn't working.

I'd be real interested to see what it is to which you refer.

Thanks!

goosdawg'''''''''that's weird I just clicked it and it worked for me.

Must be the MIB. Were getting to close!

Isn't there another rover set to land and get som soil samples in the not to distant future? I'll have to check the scedule on that. Why, with all the stuff laying around, theres bound to be some "organics", I still think (like some scientist) that the Viking lander that tested the soil back in '76 real did come up with a "positive" for Organics.
