Somehow, I knew you would miss the point.
Do, I know any scary atheists? Well I met one once. Her name was Madlyn Murray O'Hare. Not only was she ugly enough to scare a bull-dog off a gut wagon but she was scary! I think her ways made her ugly, because her photos, actually weren't that bad.
She was in a restaurant in Austin, Tx. And she was loud and profane and scaring some poor little waitress out of her wits. The COOK got her order wrong, and she was giving that girl h####! She cussed worse than any sailor I have ever heard.

And as far as your lil pic. I am not offended, because I am not Catholic.
You might want to educate your self on the difference between Protestants and Catholics.

Your story is fascinating. The woman sounds just crazy. Not sure how her religious beliefs or disbeliefs mattered in that story. Not sure how you knew she was an Atheist unless you were there with her at that restaurant. Hell, you even know her middle name. Giving her three names is like making her out to be a serial killer. They always have three names! Assassins also. Except Sirhan Sirhan, but he did have a middle name which was also Sirhan.

I missed your point? What was your point? Your point and my point of view will certainly differ at times.

A painter can have a story behind a painting. I might look at it and create my own story. Are either of us wrong?

If you really want me to prattle off a list of politicians that adhere to atheistic beliefs (Western and Eastern), I will. Not sure why- it's all easily found on Google. But I think there is an even more funny underlying point we should note. Why are there so few atheistic politicians compared to theistic politicians?

Because the majority does not vote for them. Not because it's illegal for them to run or hold office. It's because they lose. There was a thread here on ATS somewhere where someone brought up some 'laws' that stated it was illegal for atheists to run or hold office in some states but they were all old laws. Kind of like the laws saying it is punishable up to five days in jail for wearing your saber on the left hip instead of the right hip. It's against federal law and the states that do still have these laws on the books don't uphold them.

So it goes back to the voters. Then there's the despots. Let me know and I'll do the dirty work for you since you seem to be very fascinated with the topic but unaware of Google.

WOW! I didn't realize that when I asked YOU a question, I had to do the research for YOU to come up with the answer. This makes sense?

I was looking for YOUR answers not google's!!

Madlyn Murray O'Hare is one of the most famous atheists in recent history. You should google her name and find the sorts of things she fought against in society. She was a wacko. Even her son gave up on her due to her extreme atheistic beliefs and eventually became a Christian.

There's atheist wackos and christian wackos and pagan wackos and buddhist wackos and jewish wackos and muslim wackos......etc...

Not sure what this woman's atheism (if she was atheist) had to do with anything. Reminds me of the Salem witch trials.

The discernment comes from the impact on society. And she had a huge impact in the 70's. You're probably younger and don't remember that, but she was pretty mean.

There are so few atheist politicians because the percent of atheists is a huge minority...so what? How many Jewish politicans are there? How many Buddhist? How many Muslim? ETC..........

Should there be laws against these minorities with regards to running for office? Does differing religious beliefs make one less than?.....Are we discriminating in 2008 against people because of their religion?

You are better than? Better than what?

WOW! I didn't realize I was supposed to be so obsessed with atheists that I would have a list of them on tap!

Anyways, you're throwing around your own poo again by twisting my words. I said I would do the research. Not you.

Because the majority are prejudiced bigots? Only just though. 48% are able to look beyond a person's godlessness.

Not true actually. South Carolina, 2007:

SECTION 2. Person denying existence of Supreme Being not to hold office.

No person who denies the existence of the Supreme Being shall hold any office under this Constitution.

It is true that the federal law would hold, laws are still there on the books though.

Aye, it took a long time to get a black individual into a position where they could hold power in the USA, never mind ride on a bus with white people. One day it might just happen that an atheist might have a similar level of acceptance in the political arena in that 'great' land of the free.

Yes, and I am at it's head! J/k

Edit: Oops. Nearly forgot, I'm not an Atheist.

Maybe there is a HUGE conspiracy here. Maybe most politicians ARE Atheists and they only PRETEND to be Christian or Jewish or WHATEVER!

Because Atheists suck, right? So in your logic:

Atheist = Suck
Suck = Atheist

If you dislike something, it MUST be Atheist.

So what if someone doesn't believe in a higher power? So what if someone doesn't believe what you believe? Are Atheists the new 'n-word's?

Isn't that what I just said? Then even illustrated using sabers? Quick. Someone hand me an English-Atheist dictionary. Yes, they're still there but not enforced. And if they tried, federal wins.

I actually made a thread mentioning that on PTS. It would not surprise me at all for politicians to falsely claim religion.

There you go missing the point again.
How could some one with the kind of statistics on your profile page miss such straightforward points, unless it was intentional. I had the impression that you were a person of intelligence.
Please do not tell me that you do not tell me that you do not know who Madlyne Murray O' Hare was. The world's most famous atheist. Murdered by one of her own followers. She was head of an Atheist organization in Austin, Tx. She was the one who got prayer removed from public schools. I think you know that.

And I said that bit was true, no need for a dictionary, I agreed with you on that point. Can't see the problem. Is agreeing with you a problem? I know I'm an atheist, and you a theist, but we can agree on some things, no?

I also showed that they are not all old laws.

I stand corrected. Looks like I'll be moving to South Carolina. Oh wait. Never mind. I'd still be under the feds who would overturn this in a heartbeat.

Siz, My Girl. That's why I never spend too much time on word-twisters. It's like explaining physics to the mad hatter. Not worth the time and anything you say will be twisted around to make you look like the bad guy and a bigot.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure that a person of minimal intelligence, understood what I was saying.

I'll spell it out real simple.

Atheists are always slinging the phrase, "Murdering Christians.' as if there was never any other group of ppl that committed any wrongs. I was pointing out the atrocities that were committed by the so-called white people, in the name of greed and progress. And this had nothing to do with religion. But they conveniently overlook that tidbit.
Interesting, Huh?

I don't think she is the world's most famous atheist. Probably the most famous in the US at one point. I actually only learned about her a couple of years back, but then I'm not part of the 'world'. Dawkins has always been the most famous over here, and probably much of europe. Probably the 'world' now.

Could mean world as in 'world series of baseball' etc, I suppose.

But I better be careful, maybe I'll be accused of playing semantics. I can see why you all hate her though. Apparently she was a bit of a pig, but hey, so are half of the well-known fundiegelicals. So probably nothing to do with that.

Wow it sure looks like this thread has made some progress since I was last here.

Cmon now.... there is so much obvious bias being kicked around this thread... it's like watching kids play soccer in a hallway full of clay jars. It's a mess at this point.
