I just wanted to step in for a moment and thank you for your dedication here. Sometimes your comments make me laugh. I only hop onto this site when I see your name on 'MY ATS.' I do that as a courtesy to you. I appreciate you taking over for me.
I don't think anyone will ever believe how much I regret having opened this thread. I have opened thread topics that I have spent days researching subject material, and the thread went nowhere. On this thread, all I did was ask a dumb question. And this thing just will not die. At one point, I even asked the mods to close it. But they felt that it would be unfair to the members who still wanted to discuss it. I suppose that is true.
Call me a weenie, but I just don't believe that anyone really wins an argument. So that is why I stepped out. Peace everyone. And thanks again Ash.
Edit: Just wanted to add something before I leave. I appreciate all the comments that I received here. Both Atheist and Christian. Please don't get me wrong. I do not remember the member's name at this point, it's been too long. This member was an atheist and was pretty riled up at me. But his comment at me, sent me on the most fruitful journey of my life. I wish I knew who he was, so that I could personally thank him/her. His comment suggested that Christians had tunnel vision. So I went a-studying. Lol! Thank-you, whoever you are.

Christians need to look at their own behaviors. Atheists didn't spend centuries destroying whole races of people in the name of Jesus

Yeah I know Jesus hates when people have used his name in vain, Scripture says they would kill in his name. Isn't like Atheists to take religious flyer off the windshield of his car purporting to have been water boarded into Christianity or been tied down having it shoved down his vitriolic foul mouth.

So some questions for you, AshleyD.

Were the crusades conducted in the name of the Christian faith and reclaiming the holy land from the infidel, or were they not?

Was the depopulation of Latin America by the Spaniards, and North America by the Protestants enacted in the name of "spreading the faith" or was it not?

Was the English civil war rooted in the divisions among the new branches of Protestantism in England, or was it not?

Did Stalin conduct his pogroms for the greater good of atheism, or did he not?

Of course there were "other reasons" - but we're talking about stated reasons aren't we, with hte "in the name of" meme.

Stalin was part of the Russian Orthodix Church, a Christian church. Stalin wasn't against religion. He was against any religion other than his own - just like most Christians.

He was labeled an Atheist by some. If you label a turd a piece of candy, it doesn't make it a delicious treat.
