my comments were not meant to offend. i was only trying to let people know what people from stephenville are like considering i live here and know.

i just was trying to explain why there would be no pictures and why they thought its the end of the world.

Hello stellawayten,

I dont want to offend you, but I am curious to know just why you waited till now to post something like this that happened in your home town a week ago.
We are wanting closure to the ET phenominum and you have been a valuable member for a long time compared to alot of us ATSers, so why did you play this waiting game with your friends here at ATS.
Sincerely, gwhint

i live about 40 miles east of stephenville,tx. i can say that there has been more military aircraft in this area lately, mostly blackhawks and apaches, which is not too strange, considering my proximity to ft. hood and bell helicopter. but i have seem more activity than usual lately, including fighter jets at night

Most probably it's biased, since the UFO report you have looked at the sky more than usual thus you will also notice more aircraft and helicopters than usual. Just my 5 cents,

well, first of all... I just found out about it today. I don't read the paper and get most of my news from the internet.

I haven't been on ats in a while. today i was at another site that i regularly read... i don't know if i'm allowed to say the name. i saw that a ufo was spotted in texas and clicked the link. low and behold it said stephenville texas. i was shocked and came to this site to see what everyone had to say about it.

Here is my rub. Give us a logical explanation then! Most explanation thus far have been a load of $#it, that even a moron would be insulted by.

If a cigar is just a cigar then prove it to us, if not then don't BS us.

Let's see maybe flares this time, or Chinese lanterns, swamp gas, weather balloons?

Can we ever get the Realtruth?

While federal officials insist there's a logical explanation, locals swear that it was larger, quieter, faster and lower to the ground than an airplane. They also said the object's lights changed configuration, unlike those of a plane. People in several towns who reported seeing it over several weeks have offered similar descriptions of the object.

Hey stellawayten,

Is it true your town has 17000 residents only, this is a small town and you are just now finding out, I am amazed, it just seems that many of your coworkers and friends would have alerted, as well as the local fire and constable and you are on flat land as well, right.
I am just surprised you just now found about it, no offence, just curious, ok.

no offense taken. I would have questions too.

I don't work so haven't heard from anyone. I talked to my grandmother today who also lives here and we talked about it. she read about it in the paper but didn't feel the need to call me and tell me. I'm sure most people around here are laughing it off and saying... yeah right.. when they hear about it. And I asked my husband if he had heard about it and he said he just heard about it today on the radio.

Oh, and about the population. The town is small in population but it is a college town. So it swells during the spring and fall semester.

If I recall correctly the Chicago O'Hare UFO airport sighting occurred in November 2006 and did not make the MSM until January 2007.

So to have a 4-5 day delay for the MSM to report in this particular sighting is not that big of deal imo. It still does not change the fact in either case that people witnessed something.

Pretty fascinating, and very credible story worthy of more investigation. One guy said he thought it might be reflections generated by two aircraft, but that does not seem to fit what the witnesses described at all.

That "one guy" is an Air Force Major and spokesperson...lol.

Thanks stellawayten for your responses and what do you think if you and your husband do a little search and destroy mission for us and keep us informed as to your findings, you are there and I do believe there are ATS members that could give you a mission statement or a to do list to start or end this amazing breaking story,
Let me be the first to say thank you for any further groundbreaking news and who knows maybe a first source news worthy story for you and us here at ATS.

No where in the Bible does it say that UFO's is going to bring in the "end of times."

Makes no since to me.

People think it's the "end of times" because they are seeing something they don't understand...these are simpletons. I hope this helps you understand their reaction.

I would LOVE to go on a mission. I'm really into this kind of stuff. But you can count my husband out. He is a local redneck that doesn't believe anything unless he sees it with his own eyes.

I have a lot of free time so send me your missions and give me something to do. I have a digital camera so I can take pics and stuff. I also have a lot of family around here so I will get them to ask around too. Try to find some first hand info... There has got to be some college kids that saw it and took pics.

While the F-117 Stealth was in its infancy, and still a top secret, I bet sightings of IT were thought to be UFO sightings by regular, uninformed people. And they secretly had that craft for some ridiculous amount of time .. like .. over 10 years they were flying these things around but they "didn't exist" you see.

I doubt it. The F117 looks and behaves like a normal aircraft. The design of it may not have been recognizable to people who saw it before it was disclosed, but it's behavior in the sky would've made it easily identifiable as a standard jet.

stella . . . .steLLA . . . . .STELLA . . .stellawayten :
Watch out for these mods, they seem to have no sense of humor.

I want to echo "gwhint's" words and say thank you for being here.

If you live there, maybe you can start an immediate journal, while people
stay have it fresh in their memories. Take lots of notes. Talk to everyone
who saw anything. ( You're going to get excited.)

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, TUESDAY, JANUARY 08, 200

A very peculiar object was reported to NUFORC recently, which reportedly was seen by many people near Stephenville, Texas. We have not spoken with any of the witnesses yet, but an article from the Associated Press was released over the internet on the date of this posting, January 14.

We include below the “raw” reports which we have received to date about the alleged incident. We also would like to invite anyone who may have been witness to this event to please submit a short report, detailing the sighting, using our Online Report Form. Thank you!

Peter B. Davenport, Director, National UFO Reporting Center. Posted: 21:30 hrs. (Pacific), Monday, January 14, 2008

Report #1:

Flashing strobes, silent, flames out the back side and jets chasing it!

On 1-8-2008 at 6:15 pm CST. my friends and I was watching the sunset when several strobes or flashing lights coming from the east at about 3500 foot agl heading west toward Stephenville, TX. Estimated speed was about 2000 to 3000 mph.

The strobes made several changes of flash patterns and configurations. The flight duration lasted about 3 minutes. The front two strobes was about 1/2 mile a part and the back ones was about 1 mile back from the front strobes. The back side of the flashing lights came to a vertical flashing.

Then there was 2 separate vertical flames about 1/4 mile apart for several seconds and the craft was gone.

We never head ANY noise from the craft! They headed west towards Abilene, TX.

Then about 10 minutes later here came the craft again with 2 jets chasing. They were headed east towards South Ft. Worth, TX, at about 4000 ft. agl. The jets were unable to catch and went off into the distance at FULL throttle.

I am a pilot and have been fling for 30 years and have never seen anything like this. I also fly several times a week in the area. The craft is NOT from around these parts!

The witnesses are 1. ((male name deleted) 254-((number deleted)), rancher/trucker 2. ((male name #2 deleted)) 254-((name deleted)), delivers mail for the U.S. Postal Service 3. ((male name #3 deleted)) (myself) 254-((number deleted)) or cell 817-((number deleted)) owner of a large transportation/trucking firm.

Report #2:

1MILE LONG BY 1/2 MILE WIDE TRAVELING AT EST 3,000 MPH BEING CHASED BY MILITARY AIRCRAFT

NOT WITNESSED BY ME. KNOW THAT CREDIBLE PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED. MILITARY AIRCRAFT WERE CHASING THE SECOND APPEARANCE.

A COMPLETE ARTICLE IS IN THE STEPHENVILLE EMPIRE TRIBUNE 1-10-08 EDITION .

THIS ONE IS FOR REAL!

Thought id post the above from the National UFO Reporting Center for more insight.

I have to agree, why did this news take so long to spread? Anyone that lives in the general area have to be alert and ready to get pictures even if you aren't sure what a light could be. Also the F-15,16,18 whatever they are people need to get pictures of them flying around up there.

This way when they say they aren't there we have pictures that prove they are fibbing as usual.

Has anyone checked the ufo reporting centers hmmmmm. I'm going to check out NUFORC but they might not be posted yet.

Fox is reporting this again the E.D. is serious and the guy is insulting saying this is a plane.

Thanks SIEGE, I think today is going to be a sitting on the edge of the seat kind of day, it would be a good thing if Stella had a pic phone and maybe she couldgive her # to one of the mods privacy inclusion, that could direct her and keep her going in a forward direction and keep us posted as well.
Mods here know what they are doing and who better than for them to get a pic and download it quickly,
but I guess I am asking for to much, my blood is flowing pretty good now and I wish I could be there with Stella, it would be a great road trip seeing that its not the first time for them but multiple sightings, right, what next???

If you look at the local paper www.empiretribune.com you will see the progression of the reports and will see that it is possible that it took this long to get into the national msm.

Maybe you missed my above post.

It is sad that no photos were taken. That would be my first thought if I saw something like this.
