The best JSOC unit ever was comprised of SEALs, British SAS, CIA SAS (Ground Unit), CSAR, SFOD-Delta, and Navy EOD.

It was a 12 man unit, and was tasked with an espionage mission in Russia back in the early 90's. That's about as much detail as I'll go into.

Not sure if this has been posted before, because this thread is 19 pages long and its early so I don't want to read all of it. But...

Navy SEALs go on missions that we don't hear about almost every day. They, and other elite special forces operate in secret and protect us even when we don't know it. Just because it wasn't public knowledge that SEALs were in Iraq doesn't mean they weren't there. I'm sure they were, we just don't know about it because we don't really need to.

there were probably tons of spec ops teams there we didnt know about thats y thier called specail operations
any how just wonderin is it true the navy seals weapon of choice is a 6 pound shotgun?

Im sure the SEALs use a shotgun for certain ops. I'm no expert on their weapon loads but I doubt they'd favor a shotgun over an automatic rifle such as an MP5 or CAR15 and the like.

They used the shotgun in Vietnam, if that helps

i have skipped a few pages,so i don't know if the tactical edge the sas has in all points east of the present uk has been touched upon.in all of the books i have read(fiction, non fiction)the british have always had a(my man in "insert location")type thing going on.probably because the brits have occupied or set up forign ministeries in every large or small country east of england.these small pockets of the old boy network will always have the best real time on site intel anyone could want.this would make any op probably 70% easier.these people have the added advantage of being in the open and not having to hide.also there is the fact that this old boy network doesn't have their own agenda.they are above all loyal to queen and country not their former branch.the sas seems to be a force that does more real actual intel gathering themselves.

the sas in my opinion is the best because they can operate anywhere and seem to be a more self sufficient unit when unsupported.they can use more local assets wherever they are .

Look at what just happened in Mexico.
I would say that the Brits are getting to know every "nook and cranny" of the globe, just in case.
Too bad the locals found out

Yeah I just read about that...
I dont think they are SAS.
They are too busy in Afghanistan/Iraq and at home...
Especially since they are running large Selection courses (they are creating a fifth squadron, I think it might be called R Squadron or L Squadron) so they have to recruit men for that
so I dont think they can spare the men for a bit of fun

This link makes the claim of one Seal in Iraq not so credible...pic from a different site. Same group.

globalspecops.com...

I agree, thats Iraqi freedom, i recognize the camo scheme,AS POST 1993 CAMO, because in Black hawk down in somolia, they were using the "chocolate chip" scheme also, some of the soldiers a holding M-4s (m-16 carbine version) in somolia, they were using the CAR-15, BIG DIFFERENCE! blah blah blah after that

Unless I miss my guess, that pic was taken in Iraq. More than one Seal? Yup. Kinda takes the credibility away. And I know it's not Desert Fox, Desert Storm, Desert Shield. They were there.
