Don't know why we're surprised at the decline/loss of building knowledge thousands of years ago, as we have 'apparently' the same phenomenon only 40yrs ago. We could go to the moon and back many times in the 60/70's but we can't go now in year 200x? Hmmmmmm???? Oh yes we have lost all the engineers from that era and the space building didn't progress/'build' on what was learned from our German Nazi scientists of that time? And, we lost all the film of the most important even of our modern times but at least we got those old Black and White Chaplin movies.... phew!
