Face in the window (photo)

Oh man...

The hair on the back of my neck stood on end when I saw it, and now I keep looking over my shoulder...gah...

I trust you, and thats why it scares me the most. You've been here for a while so you would not hoax.

And for those of you saying it's an illusion, well, to be honest, if we take everything he said as true in addition to the picture, then well it can't be that, it is definitely something supernatural.

to me it looks likes the "Silver Surfer"(®©) Maybe it is a sign that "Galactus"((®©) is on his way, what a good reason to stay awake at night huh? How odd that this happened on the day of the full moon, wonder it the moon's gravity had anything to do with this "lunacy" (pun intended)

Well... i've never read the silver surfer... so i have no idea what you are talking about, but i'll take it that it would make sense to someone that has.


When i mean optical illusion, i mean that somehow a combination of shadows, the way the curtain hung and the curtain's pattern somehow created the illusion of a face... but the only thing that stops me thinking that is the wierdness that goes with it. It was literally like a mold of a face, as if they had pushed it in and it stayed there.

It will be another of those things that never gets properly explained i guess, but at least i have some photos.

i think i figured it out (you actually helped me with that zoomed pic).

i'm going for optical illusion; combination of sun reflection (left part of the face), branches from the garden making shadows (to the right and that part that looks like hair) and pattern of your curtain.

look at the bottom end of the curtain, just bellow the face; if this was a real face the curtain would be pushed inside the room, but its not.

(if someone doesn't understand what i mean, feel free to ask, i'm trying to write this as fast as i can since i'm already late for work...)

Yeah i understand what you're saying. As i said earlier, that is the most likely explanation. Either way i think it's still got me a little freaked out. I keep checking rooms when i walk past. It's 3pm here and the storm clouds are that thick that inside it is nearly pitch black.

Nice pic, I'm thinking its the lighting, the curtain most likely has been sitting in the place for ? a reasonble time, and maybe you just noticed it due to the suns position....

I agree. In the close up, the material's surface, which has texture, does not follow the curves of the "eyes". It is an optical illusion because circumstaces are right to give us a pattern, and our brain sees that pattern and forms a corresponding image that we recognize as "a face" although no face is actually there.

we need a forum for photographs, strictly to post and possbly debunk or prove photographs.

that would clean up the forums right good id imagine. plus make things easier to access.

to me the thing does look like a face, but since we usually see 100s of faces everyday of our lives, our brains are pre-conditioned to spot the pattern of a human face, thereby realizing you are not alone and to defend yourself, or socialize, or take whatever prep is necessary due to the other intelligent entity. its a survival mechanism if you will. we as humans know our fellow humans will capture, kill, or serve us up into bondage if they are not stopped by other humans. right now we live fairly cozy in society, but once it was not like this and people had to fear every path they took.

so we see things that are just random patterns.. this for example, looks like a face but is likely just the way the curtain moved w/the wind or a/c or something.

Here's where I would normally tell the OP off for making up a huge story over nothing but seeing as he has already stated rational possibilities I can relax.

To me it looks like a freakish coincidence of the way the net curtain has settled.
If you have indeed noticed a lot of these pareidolia threads then you are subconsciously aware to look for such things as faces.

In a more busy atmosphere and if you wasn't really aware of the threads you mentioned you most probably would have missed the 'face' all together.

If I was alone, feeling a bit vulnerable and nothing really occupying my thoughts and been taking notice of the pareidolia threads I too would crap my pants if I saw that shape.

Good picture though, much better than the usual blurry dark mess of randomness normally seen.

I just find it amazing you had the temerity/foresight to keep a camera so close at all times to capture these weird "events" we ALL see, but can never "capture" or prove/show to others.

Not hard to Photoshop that in at all!!!! Opacity use in layers .... and use of selections .... Piece of cake WITH ice cream on the side!

First thing i learned when becoming interested in UFOs and the paranormal: keep a camera handy. It's always on it's charger just in-case i need it.

The detail on the 'face' is stagering, you can make out Eyes, pupils, and an ear, and a nose...

THat looks like a face... and is makes me shiver.

One of the downsides of socializing in an environment that promotes paranoia is suffering from paranoia in the real life.

Including seeing faces in windows curtains.

Seems as though many factors came together all at once to give this illusion of light. shadow, curtain design and crease. Unlike many of you I see nothing creepy about it. I do think it should be entered in a photo contest though as it is quite cool looking.

I have seen many of the OP's posts and have no problem with this story.

yea a trick of light and shadow, and texture pattern of the curtain itself.

But still none-the less extremely creepy. I definitely wouldn't care to see that in my house.

and yea looks like the Silver Surfer wearing a baseball cap pushed way back up on his forhead.

You can almost see a second face to the left of the obvious one also, at least a nose and chin, looks like half of a face there too.

I'd be changing those curtains to some blinds in a hurry, personally.

Looks to me like a long face, with a sort of 'grin' - and with the dark area above, almost with a whispy brown cropped haircut.

Id have freaked out had I saw that !
