Yes, that's my point. The original source is more an advertisement than a news story.

Ask the moderators to close the thread, then. Same as well to ban him, too.

I will be at the rally in New Orleans with my camera. I know it won't be big. I have a print out of events happening this weekend and the rally is no where on it. I don't really want to be put on a FBI database but what can you do right, have to support what you think is right. I don't believe we should be out right away but we really need to rethink our "strategy".

If you have enough energy to make it to a protest rally; email your Representatives and congressmen and tell them of your dissatisfaction for the war. That will make much more of an impression on them than a street demonstration.

Perhaps I misunderstood your post when I read it. But the protest are a sign of the freedom of speech that our nation enjoys under our constitution.

So if people feels the need to protest it should be allow to so.

WOW.....OK.....Well it looks like I really have a lot of really hard work ahead of me.

I did not realize that there where so many uninformed, unintelligent, extreme left, liberal hippies right here on ATS. This is very disturbing.

Im sorry for the outburst but come on!

All I got to say is just watch out for a thread that I will be creating soon that will contain some actual ideas, and intelligent thoughts and got for bid some actual learning that will actually make a difference in this god forsaken world instead of doing some stupid protest that will do absolutely nothing except show how ignorant you really are to actually participate in it.

Correct me if I am wrong here, you do not think people should exercise their rights to protest in this nation?

What is that hippie, bias and every other insulting way you has used to relate to protesters, the protesters are not all liberal hippies you know is also conservatives included fed up with the administration fiasco in Iraq.

What will you call them traitors?

I was thinking of skipping the peace rally but you have turned it into a kind of conceptual challenge, so I think I'll go and see if I can persuade some cute little hippy to have a drink with me after the festivities. Might be fun.

Are you happy now?

Perhaps I will attend the protest in Philadelphia so that I can protest the protesters! The silent majority in this nation (those who support the troops and their mission) must be heard!

And thus the War begins...

Support the troops yes..

But this 'war' was NOT a war... it was to remove Saddam from power (which we supported with money and arms) and FREE IRAQ...

Have you all forgotten that? We have removed Saddam and his Kin... its time to go home... had we done so last year the majority of Iraqi's would have called us friend... the longer we say the more will call us 'occupiers'

If our leaving causes civil problems... so be it The region has had this for over 2000 years... but if Iraq needs our help... let us withdraw so they can ASK us back to help them officially

Trust me the troops would then have a true mission and would have the support of the majority of the nation

I've attended many of the anti-war protests up here in Ottawa, Canada. But I'm not an american citizen. It worked up here, Canada stayed the hell out of Iraq, the government got the message, Canada wants nothing to do with Iraq.

Unfortunately, I'm not a US citizen. So I won't be amongst you down there, but don't you dare decide to stay home and watch TV... get out there! Make a difference!

All those times you wished you could have been part of the peace movement in the 60's... well... HERE IS YOUR CHANCE... GO!

There seems to be One on the board who's not aware that the right to form demonstration is enshrined in all democratic constitutions incl the American.

And I don't think the mods are here for censoring. Well, if they should ban anyone they don't agree with...

Obviously somebody don't want too many to show up, and the first step in that, is to let the demos be as unknown as possible. No reporting or you'll get slammed. Because if too many show up just one time too many, they can make enough trouble for the powerholders to alter their policies, like Johnson had to do to counter the massive protests of 1967-68.

30 million would be wishful thinking, but 3 millions could do. Only problem... contrary to 1968, where Johnson was really emotional affected by the demos.. is that your leaders today don't give a damn about your opinion.

To me it seems they're saying, "It's none of your business, and you'll only get more of this medicin called WOT, if you not adapt to the rules as we see them fit."

Sad... anybody in support for such a reasoning.

I think this will have started now. Looks like the Philadelphia actions will start at 9 AM and I think you guys are 6 hours behind me so it should be about now.

More on the times the demonstrations starts in different cities

Will be fun to see how the mainstream media spins this.

I guess you really mean to say 'support your local economy', but you forgot that you're speaking to a global audience (or you believe that any economy outside the US borders shouldn't exist ... I'll go for the former, as the rest of your post was pretty righteous

    lol

Yes, of course. I tend to speak directly to Americans, for I see them as being the prime example of all the world's ills. Being an American, I feel I have every right to diss the country for its sorry behavior. I don't mean to exclude others or present my opinions in a manner that would seem to alienate anyone, however.

Thanks for pointing out my narrow focus and poorly chosen phraseology. A locally sustained economy is the only way for future communities to survive, unless some magical "free energy" is readily available and shared. If only Tesla and his believers would throttle Big Oil, we could create a whole new world.

Changing this world will require all of us to partcipate and take action, together, regardless of our cultural, political, geographical and spiritual boundaries. We are global, thus we are one. Sadly, some children in the sandbox continue to act as if all the toys belong to them and no one else. As if by yelling "Mine!" makes it so.

I went to the Jonesborough protest. All it had to do with was with the depleted uranium being used in Iraq and the fact that there was a plant making DU about 5 miles down the road. There was about 200 people there. It was speeches half the time and singing the other half the time broke up by some 20 man biker gang in the background calling us all terrorists and cowards in the background.
