Yes, that's my point. The original source is more an advertisement than a news story.

I added some examples to my post to try and make the point that its not. News about planned politic events are exactly the same as news about a planned demonstration.

Good to see that America is waking up.....

It's easy to sit at home and and twiddle your thumbs, I'll keep a keen eye on the media over here in Europe and see who brings what on primetime.

Hope Ron Paul gets the nomination....
But he sounds too good to be true, if he is above board, I think an assination attempt would just be the thing the Warmongers would be happy with.

Here is the major problem with this.

Most have not heard of these marches!
If the word does not get out, people wont spread the word further, or plan ahead to take off work if needed. Also, I am sad to see that many US cities do not have a march organized.

IMHO were not going to make a large enough impression until we have millions marching.

I mean seriously, we have over 300 million people here in the US. If we could muster 1% to march that would be 30million! The sad thing is we are never going to get 30 million people to march and even if we did they would just say that we are the radical 1%.

I think the marches are a great idea, but count on TV news to give very little 'face time' to the protests if any at all. Look to the blogs, and internet news sites for more coverage!

I wish something sparks change tomorrow.
Good night and good luck.

I know. But if every single person do what they can, thats all anyone can ask really. I do what I can, you do what you can, and so on.

Its a lot better than giving in to apathy.

Maybe these demonstrations wont be big, but they will get attention, leading to more people coming onto alternative news networks and so on. Maybe the next demonstration have more people joining because of it. So just spreading the word is powerful and gets consequences we dont see instantly.

Your post made me laugh, and then it made me wonder what you know of the constitution.

Our founding fathers specifically promoted a NONINTERVENTIONALIST FOREIGN POLICY. That means stay out of other nations' business.

Don't you see that when we invade other countries, we put ourselves in danger of experiencing the "blowback" of our actions? The founding fathers stated that commerce with all nations is our foreign policy, not invade them to save our economy or oil or wtf ever.

No amount of being "tough" in this situation is helping anything. Imposing sanctions on Iran is just gonna get our asses in a sling that forces us to have to invade. We did the same thing with Japan during WWII. Piss them off enough, and they'll come over here and drops some bombs, then we can join the war and make money off of our sons dying for someone else's cause.

Wake up good sir and realize that being a tough guy does nothing for the safety of our citizens. Had we not put our noses where it doesn't belong, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Why don't you try preemptively beating up your neighbor, just to make sure he doesn't get tough with you later. See how that helps your relationship in the neighborhood. Then tell me why we're in Iraq and heading to Iran...

Massive huh? Isn't every anti-war rally massive? Let's see the actual numbers before people start ascribing such terms to things. Prepare to be dissapointed. You can slam me all you want, let's wait for the numbers though.

Im not going to slam you. But like I said to another poster, the term "massive" is from the external source. I hope these demonstrations become massive myself, but since its a grass root movement trying to get the message out, maybe they will not be so large.

You should not interpret small demonstrations as a sign of lacking interest. Its merely a possible result of the media not reporting about it and hence not helping to give people the knowledge they need to be present.

The numbers attending these demonstrations would be in the millions if it was on national TV in my opinion. But of course no network is going to help people rally against the war their owners are profiting from. Nothing like a war to bring amazing ratings.

Bi-home living in NYC and Phila -- in the PA papers was just reading about a massive demo planned from the west side to center city walk and then a chain-link of people from noon until 5pm!

This is a worthy case -- get flyers and posters about a 9 $$ TRILLION DEFICIT. And the war(s) cost of approaching a $$ TRILLION.

I live just outside of Jonesborough, TN. I had not heard of the march until just now, but i will plan on attending if i can find out some more information. Jonesborough is a small, historic town and probably won't receive much publicity at all in comparison to the other locations. Every voice counts for something though. Even if it does get you labeled a fascist by Bill O'Reilly.
I will post back with the outcome of the event, and any articles or write-ups from the local newspapers.

Hey, you're right -- that is kind of odd. There probably will be some sort of protesting going on in relation to this:

Just knowing that this thread helps to make people like you attend this thing makes me very happy. Hopefully this thing will attract lots of people and make it to the evening news.

Bring video cameras.

I will have my digital camera and take some pictures. I'll take my video camera too in case anything strange happens. Like i said though, Jonesborough is a very small and quiet town. I don't look for much police presence or excitement, but you never know. I'll keep you all posted.

Will a protest be deemed to be,

How can they say they are "marching for peace"

How do they know what the result would be of an immediate and complete withdrawal of troops from Iraq?

Are they prepared to just sit back and watch if Iraq turns into a civil war bloodbath or returns to a hostile dictatorship with inevitable crimes against humanity?

Is the only thing they are concerned with actually really the lives of the American troops? Shouldn't they have thought about that before the war began? Shouldn't they have thought about that before re-electing Bush?

Oh and BTW, I agree with djohnsto77, using the word "massive" is not very clever, and it's only being used to try to hype up the event, and yes the "news" announcement reads more like an advertising flyer from the promoters of the event.

I noticed that some of you here are saying that this is people waking up. Well I am sorry to inform you that this is not people waking up at all. There is nothing that they are waking up too.

They are not going to be demanding the truth to 9/11, they will not be shouting that the media has been lying to the public, they will not be shouting that NWO is real and has control and they will not be successful in doing anything but making a big scene.

They will be protesting for the war to end and for peace and thats it. Sure it is great to see that there are lots people out there that are trying to make a stand and promoting change but most of these people that will be going out are uninformed of the real truth and are completely going about this the wrong way. This is a big step in the long line of big steps in the wrong direction.

Don't get me wrong, protests have made a difference in the past but it should be really obvious to even a complete idiot that this is not working anymore in are day and age. We need a new approach and a new direction. ATS is are new approach and direction. We put the truth out there for people to see and they can come to their own conclusions. Then from there it is up to us and the people that we inform to go to the next step.

Informing people should be are main priority at ATS and we have a lot of work ahead of us. It is up to us, no one else will do it. Very soon I will be creating a thread that will help take us into the direction of getting people informed of the truth.

Read this article, actually Iraq is worst now that it was before invasion and liberation from evil Saddam.

We just traded a US hostile regime for another one more friendlier but still hostile to its own people.

UNAMI issues its 11th report on the situation of human rights in Iraq (10/11/2007)

www.uniraq.org...

Our military is no gaining any support in iraq by the iraqi people, they are targets at every turn, including public opinion.

Massive? by who's saying? First off, these will be low key marches at best. There is torrential rain expected in the New York, Boston and Philadelphia areas. I know another conspiracy, Bush is controlling the weather again.

I don;t buy into these HUGE peace rallies. Its just an aevent for the SAME people to come out and label Bush a war mongerer. You get a few million at one of these, and I will take notice.

Lets see the post on Monday when your out here asking why no one showed up.

Who shows?

Stupid does as stupid is told to do!
