I have kept myself away from discussions about lights and shadows, but this time I will not let it pass.

If that "floating object" is really casting a shadow, and the dark area is the shadow, it is easy to see where the light source responsible for that shadow would be.

It would be something like this:

but the light source would be much smaller to make that type of penumbra.

So, I don't think that is the shadow of the brighter area, just a darker area with more or less the same shape as the brighter area.

As for the "rock that rolled up-hill", I will let it pass, but just this time.

Recycling your own nonsense, eh?

I refer you to my original reply to this "floating thing" ...

All of this speculative picture interpretation aside; where are the streams, snow-capped mountains, and foliage that Mr. Lear has stated are there "for a fact"? Where?

China Moon Mission Chang'e-1 In Good Condition

The Chang'e-1, China's first moon orbiter, is currently moving on a 24-hour orbit with an apogee of 70,000 kilometers after it entered the orbit following its second orbital transfer at 5:33 p.m. on Friday, according to the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC).

The lunar probe has traveled more than 500,000 kilometers so far. It has to travel a total of 1.59 million kilometers before it reaches the moon orbit as planned, said Ji Gang, an engineer of monitoring and controlling branch of the moon probe program.

The satellite is expected to fly to the moon in a real sense after it enters the earth-moon transfer orbit on Oct. 31, and it is planned to arrive in the moon's orbit on Nov. 5.

So the Chinese will start snapping pics only 8 days after lauch but the Japanese can't show us TV pics for a couple months?

Hmmmm

www.spacedaily.com...

But this line was interesting... just what else do the Chinese have 'way out there'?

"Such a long distance will not be a challenge for our monitoring system. We have successfully accomplished missions to monitor a satellite which flies even further away from the earth," said Tang Ge, head of orbit monitoring and controlling office of the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC).

Update today

The "KAGUYA"(SELENE,) flying around the moon, successfully extended the Lunar Magnetometer (LMAG) mast and Lunar Radar Sounder (LRS) antennas, and deployed the Upper Atmosphere and Plasma Imager (UPI.)

Thanks for the photos Sherpa.

Anybody know what the yellow circled spot is? It looks kind of like a shadow but it can't be because its in the same identical place in both photos?

Also notice the reflection on the antenna and spacecraft. The highlights are almost identical which is odd because we are looking a different areas of the moon, one is sunlight and one is not.

I am going to be totally conventional here so don't hate me for it but I would suggest Kaguya's shadow cast on the lunar surface.

Huh?

Upper Atmosphere Imager??

Plasma Imager??

I guess they want to have a look at Aristarchus huh?

Amongst a lot of other things yes.

Incidently regarding Chang e 1, (why don't we just say Moon Lady), and there deep space tracking maybe what they was tracking wasn't theres.

I was looking at Space.com on the history of China's satellites and Moon lady is the only deep space one mentioned.

It doesn't preclude secret satellites though I admit.

Well, they're not going to make all their findings & images public for a year or two.

Ok, after seeing these new images, it is really obvious now that they put some kind of purple color filter on these images. Look at the equipment on the orbiter - It all has a really obvious purple tint to it. This really pisses me off because it is a big in your face slap to us, saying that we are covering everything up, including the real color of the moon - and we are not hiding that fact.

LOL I am having enough trouble convincing them that WE have secret stations... no one will buy the Chinese... even though Buzz Aldrin seems to think the people on the moon speak Chinese

The pictures we are seeing at the moment from Kaguya are from system monitoring cameras not the real deal surface imaging ones.

The cameras for this are HDTV and are not expected for release until mid December.

Why is the UPI going to be used to look at the Earth? This is a Moon mission last time I checked. What "other phenomena" around the Earth will the Japanese be looking for?

As far as the spots/shadows go, can a satellite that is roughly 60 miles above the surface at a pretty fast speed create a shadow that can be picked up by the lowest resolution camera that Japan can send up on a multi-million dollar spy...oops...research satellite?

I hope that the high definition pictures show us something when they finally get released. Maybe China will beat them to the punch. This is going to get interesting.

Looks like they plan to talk to ET as well...

"The LRS also observes radio frequencies from other planets when the satellite is on the back side of the moon where no artificial radio waves from the Earth interfere with the observations"

The color does seem to be a bit off. Here's a corrected version, with the moon that ordinary dull brownish gray that it really is:

This is a little off topic, but the colors of the pic you just posted match the colors of the new US Air Force ABU. I find that interesting. I guess the uniform must match the area you work in...

I watched the video. Zorgon you are a liar. No-where in the video does Aldrin say that there are people on the moon, let alone that these people speak Chinese. He said that a very significant areospace CEO from California stated that humans would be BACK on the moon, and those humans would speak Chinese. Which, to anyone with half a brain, means that he believes the Chinese are going to be going to the moon. Please stop lying about things like this it doesn't help anyone except maybe yourself ( unless you get caught out )..
sorry

I just watched this video and there is something that Buzz says that may be taken one of two ways.

" the Chinese think beyond that...and they are planning on going back to the Moon."

This is around 2:15

So what does this mean and what does his associated body language mean when he says this?

Does he mean the Chinese will be the first humans to go back, or does he mean that the Chinese have already been there and will return?

The only time he scratches his neck is when he mentions the Chinese going back to the Moon. Some would overlook this but I don't. His body language changed when he mentioned this. He also changes his expression when he talks about speaking Chinese on the Moon. He gets excited and raises his eyebrows. Is that him joking or is that him saying that the Chinese are not to be taken lightly?

This is the way I look at people when they talk about stuff, but the only time his character changes is when he mentions something about China. I find that interesting.
