How would it affect you to have the existence of extraterrestrials confirmed?

It is so refreshing to see so many different opinions on this subject
that has us all combining our efforts to find some meaning to all of this incredible happening, which will in a short time unveil itself . Keeping a good sense of humor on this topic is so important in the sense that it keeps us sane and gives us a good attitude in keeping an open mind.

In relation to the governments of the world it will be immensely difficult to divulge any information about UFO's or ET's because of thier
machiavellian attitudes and the monetary based system that we all have been imposed upon, this also includes all the different religions and all of the different lodges that exsits that combine to have a custodial type of control over us all. Still it is good to know that on this planet that there are many free thinkers searching for the truth even if it's hard to find . There will be a big choice for us when the time comes for there are many races [et's]and in that time we will need to ask the supreme being to give us wisdom to make the right choice.

I would not effect me at all. I would still be Christian, I would dtill be American. I wouldn't change at all. I'm not exactly sure where the whole "change of life" thing comes from with alien disclosure and etc. Who honestly cares if there real? how will it effect us? Little green men flying around a few million light years away? OH NO PANIC! (sarcasm at government who actually believes this)

interesting question. I would think it would be amazement, followed by a million questions, followed by fear, and then acceptance

i would be quite excited, been able to live knowing after over 200 years (even longer i think) people have been wondering if they do exist, we KNOW they exist, it would be increible ^_^ but i think religioun would just fall apart, dont you?

I'm with you there. I'd ask them to show me everything, the universe, the past, all the myths of historic earth events. I'd ask them about every conspiracy theory i know of, how everything was orchestrated if it was, and by who. I'd ask them to tell me about Jesus, if he was an alien or just a normal person or just a prophet with a few bursts of luck or didn't exist at all. I'd ask them how the universe works and why it was born and what's the essence of reality and matter. I probably wouldn't want to come back to earth.

I would be quite excited, for many years i have been looking up to the stars thinking i don't belong here, i have always wanted to be an astrnot, ive had this real wierd deep feeling about aliens. but i have never seen an u.f.o or ever been abducted that i know of. but i have this strong fealing that i belive in aliens more than God. I truly don't understand why.

It will affect some but not others For example Gorman91 won't change his faith, which is fair enough too but others I know would.

No not at all, only the fact that no religion in the world (Well maybe Scientology, I'm not quite sure) supports the theory of alien life/intelligence ? According to your religion and afew others we are the superior beings in the universe other than of course god himself.

If I'm wrong please do correct me its just on other sites I've had debates apon debates about what would happen if intelligent aliens landed and what would happen to their religion. So some textual evidence that aliens and religion have no interconnecting bonds is wanted here on my behalf

I would like to get to know the aliens. Even considering the book the grays. I would like to get to know what they know.

Pre-western Churches taught to believe in other worldly races, as it was needed to comprehend the manner of God's greatness. I read this somewhere so long ago I forget, please Google it.

Yeah I know that religions are now teaching to accept other worldy races but my opinion on that (Please this is not meant to offend anyone, its merely an observation) religion is forever having to mend around our scientific studies. Most religions cannot keep to their story in a way (No pun intended) I believe Christianity has a lot of fact to it however I think its a different force at work. A religion that openly accepts the belief of extra-terrestrials from the start is one that I would believe in. I do believe that a force created us thats beyond our comprehension but just not any god that our modern day society as presented.

How would the confirmation of the existance of ETs affect me? It hasn't affected me at all.

religion would even make more sense if an extraterrestrial presence would finally be revealed & accepted by the public. just think of their spiritual level and what we could learn from them. maybe they know who or what god is and how / why he created this beautiful and yet never ending universe...

I think that the media has been preparing us to accept the reality of aliens since the release of ET and Close Encounters. When the existence of aliens is verified, we will all be affected by increased tolerance and the knowledge that we can indeed learn from those who are different from ourselves. It is time for us to be enlightened.

Yea I don't think it would do much to me, as I think already that there is other lifeforms out there, it would just be interesting on how the church would go about all of it...

Good question, D-R, and some interesting answers.

Well it's a very complex subject, the most important there is for humanity. If the question implies full worldwide disclosure, there is a lot to disclose and it could lead to some major repercussions for trust in govts such as that in the US who have knowingly covered it up for so long. From Roswell to the SDI star wars program, billions of US$ have been spent on pursuing the technology behind closed doors, at the expense of e.g. social programs.

I don't see it happening soon, unless the ETs want to take control of the situation. They could obviously disclose themselves any time in a way which could not be ignored even by the media - like as an example parking in the sky above say 50 major world cities, all day and all night for several days. It seems they choose to stay in the background so as not to disrupt human society too much, yet are obviously there as they are seen by tens of thousands each year. 'If you want to search, you'll find out about us. But if you're determined to ignore us, OK' seems to be the way most of them operate.

Then there's the abductions, which seem quite sinister and certainly indicative of power and technology such that they can do whatever they want without bothering to seek any kind of consent (though people are not usually intentionally harmed). Then there's the animal mutilations. If a govt were to disclose, it would mean admitting they know about all this and are absolutely powerless to do anything about it.

In the light of this I think the possible implications for human society might be quite serious. Reactions may vary a lot. For serial abductees, an end to scorn and skepticism, of always having to be guarded and secretive about what they are put through, of not being believed. That would be a big change.

For most people in the west (and the east), it would probably be quite positive overall. Though beware of numerous 'they are our saviours' cults springing up to replace redundant belief systems. I can see inflexible, fundamentalist religious belief systems being shaken up quite a lot. The idea of ETs being evangelized at is not a very enticing prospect!

Imagine the tens of millions of people wanting to travel to the stars with the newly-acknowledged visitors. There is little prospect of this dream being realizable for everybody, at least not in the short term.

Philosophical implications - possibly large. A lot of hard-line believers in conventional scientific models are going to take a bath alright. SETI funding is not likely to last too long.

New energy sources to render fossil fuels redundant for ever: what would be the short/medium term implications for the oil & gas industries? What about stock market collapse? The automobile industry? Fossil fuel dominated economies of places like Saudi, Iran, Russia?

The prospects for the nationalistic way we divide up the planet and the petty tribal squabbles we engage in might be in for the biggest change. But I suppose that might depend on the nature and intentions of the ETs and the way they interact with us.

Or they might reveal themselves in a major way, then choose to pack up and leave and return in another 500 years. With our present mastery of technology - basically only 200 yrs from the horse and cart - we could hardly follow them. But we'd know they're out there, for sure. That might make a big difference.

I know extraterrestrials do exist, so the effect on me would be as it is, the greys and a human form have been a part of my life.
As for other people they would cope with news and in some cases would hope that they would be able to save our world.

If an alien ship just landed in my yard, they came out for a quick stretch break, waved at me, and got back in and left; I don't think my view of life would change that much(that's not to say, of course, that I wouldn't be amazed). It would just be a confirmation of what I already know(or at least, truly believe to be real).

However, if they were to be able to communicate with us, start arriving en masse, etc. THAT is what would change my thinking.

I would be extremely interested to hear if they have religion or spiritual beliefs, and if so what they are. I'd also be clamoring to get on board a ship and check out their home planet.

I'm kind of strange on this topic.

It would not affect my life at all to see aliens' existence confirmed by some sort of authoritative figure, because I already know they exist.

I actually believe they're already on our planet, maybe in the ocean, maybe subterranean cities, I'm not sure. I think they are here though.

The reason I say I'm strange about this topic is because I really enjoy reading about things I don't know about like aliens, paranormal stuff, unknown creatures, that kinda stuff. I'm very much interested in aliens, where they came from, where they might be, different races of them, etc.

BUT if an alien walked into my bedroom in the middle of the night and woke me up, curiosity would be the last thing on my mind. I admit I would be SCARED #LESS.

Same thing goes for paranormal stuff. I'm not sure if anyone has seen that show Supernatural. But I LOVE that show, but if any of that stuff actually happened to me in real life I'd be high tailing it out of there as fast as my legs would carry me.

But yea, to answer the question specifically - Hearing it from say, the president of the united states, that they have confirmed alien contact on Earth, wether it be a city or whatever, would not affect my life.
