China apparently claimed it was a space plane test. The link they had on their gov site disappeared. Team Rogoway pressed (X).

“In the past we’ve put a lot of confidence in our assessment of what an adversary like China will do in the future, and we use that to inform how we want to make our investments. And one of the lessons that I’ve taken from my own experience is perhaps we should look at what is possible from a physics perspective, as opposed to what we think they’re going to do,” Niemi, PACAF’s director of strategy, plans, programs, and requirements, said in a Monday talk hosted by the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance. “Because China, again and again, has proven that if it is possible within physics, and it will surface another hole in our swings, that they will do it.”

Oh it's alive all right.

The fact that there was a pretty loudly discussed spotting of the demonstrator for the craft (allegedly powered by a single engine and can be optionally manned if you believe initial articles about this) escorted by two T-38 Talon chase planes back in 2017 shows they must be much farther along now.

Given that the USAF have released that five not two B-21 test craft are being built - I'd say there's much interesting craft we may seen in the near future and some others we might get lucky and see that aren't announced.

odd nose on that one

wonder if it uses a HF arc to make a false front

Think its just a dummy demonstrator wrapped around a working engine..

"They launched a long-range missile," Hyten told CBS News. "It went around the world, dropped off a hypersonic glide vehicle that glided all the way back to China, that impacted a target in China." Asked if it hit the target, Hyten replied, "Close enough."

China seems to be definitely ahead.

look of fractional orbital bombardment

the USSR and the USE did that back int he 70's and 80's

we even had advanced renter bodies that could change course in the PERSHING ll missiles

that picture is from the US test atolls in the Pacific in the 80's. the think doing a 45 degree Mach 23 turn is a perishing ll MARV(multiple advanced re-entry vehicle)

You're missing the point that the end weapon is an HGV.

The used a FOBS to deliver an HGV.

It's a nightmarish combo.

a MARV is a hypersonic body

in reality we don't need HGV

we already have PGS systems

the small amout of manuvering you get is over a huge area(like the sr-71 taking 2 states to turn)

we broke the 7 min barrier along time ago and are weapons hit with in meters of the target theirs hit over 25 miles away.

but yes still a end of the world weapon no way you cut it.

nuclear warheads are nuclear warheads no matter how fast it gets there

also if you look at the declassified MARV photos they look like mini HGV's

then there were the hyper sonic interceptor nuclear lenticular missile system that was going to be on the XB-70

they are ahead because we are doing other things.

russia was always a great rocket builder, and we are know for our technology and advanced weaponry.

i dont doubt china could deal ALOT of damage but i believe we could destroy china and every living soul in it with out nuclear weapons or Bio/chem.

got a nice glassy finish and is super pointy

i think they had that airman stand there so we couldnt get a good look at the intake.

there has been alot of neat stuff coming put in the past two days.

like NG new multiservice action /isr/elint/kinetic/ECM from all branches to work as one unit even space assets

also it doesnt looked manned, It might be one of the remaining family members.

the nosecone doesnt look right for hypersonic flight but who knows what that is made out of and if it projects an artificial bow shock
