As someone who's seen the real life version of the asset refered to the tr3b on no less than three occasions i can tell you that article is lower than whale shyte in regards to just about everything and anything accurate related to the subject. its an embarrassment to Defence View or whatever. Seriously nothing in that article is remotely accurate and the pictures there in are garbage too and far from reality.

Probably a 16 year old journo on their first day on the job.Quick 5 min google search writes their story for them.

I think blackfinger is spot on. Or at least the writer has the intellectual capacity of a 16 year old.

Do take note that there’s already been talk of the SR-72 eventually being able to achieve Mach 7. Citing author James C. Goodall’s book 75 Years of the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, Leone writes that “NASA is funding the validation of a previous Lockheed study that found that speeds up to Mach 7 could be achieved with a dual-mode engine that combines turbine and ramjet technologies.”

It's long been talked about, but the engine itself has proven problematical in every attempt to date.

Only thing that works up to that speed is still the solid booster rocket design that started with the X15.

Could it be possible that the tbcc engine is using a turbine far different or at least heavily modified from a standard turbine to access speeds up to mach 7 and then a shcram jet is used up to double digit mach numbers. ...???...

I dunno but everyone knows that simply by spinning a magnetic field really really fast you can reduce mass, inertia, gravity and via that diddle time rate gradients making essentially a non temporal time machine... I learned it from an insider named fouchet...very credible guy.

Not to say spinning a magnetic field really really fast when combined with something else and then amplified couldnt have another very useful application not related to propulsion. Or at least not directly and most likely not used for that intended purpose but a more practical application.

Spinning magnets around copper wire produces electricity I do know.

Making renders and small wind tunnel models is one thing but going the whole hog and have a fully backed up flying and supported airframe is another.Have they got runways, terminals, shuttle services all ready or will they end up like their abandoned cities?

A lot of talk like is usual but we all have seen a lot of these ideas fail to follow through...

USEQ has a high speed burst tunnel as well for hypersonic testing.

We caught an interesting radio call at Tonopah on our trip last week. Something called in right after the tower closed for the night, on a long left base, and long final approach, but we never saw anything actually land. We did catch what appeared to possibly be a small UAV on the ramp later in the week, but the heat haze during the day is so bad you can't make out any real details.

Ooo wonder if it was the demonstrator wasn't that supposedly a single engined UAV?
