My favorite piece of propaganda that every kid in the U.S. knows is this "Our country is the best, and we have never lost a war." Well... there is Iraq, Vietnam, and well, Korea was a draw, but heck none of these were true wars, they were only interventions approved by congress without declaring a true war.

My point is that, alot of the U.S. population is brought up with the idea that we don't need anyone else, and we will wipe up the enemies right way if we feel like it. Which is clearly not the case, and we have people coming up with excuses for our failures.

In my honest opinion we have too much patriotism in America. Sure it worked great when we wanted to liberate ourselves from Britian, but we are past that. America is too "jump the gun", and "Screw you guys, I don't need you anyways". The best way is to have a mix of having all freinds, but being able to take out a country if you, by all means, NEED to. So basically "speak softly, and carry a big stick" diplomacy, and use war or millitary as an absolutely last resort.

America hasn't actually won a war since WW2. That is true. I am beginning to view my country as little more than a paper tiger. However, there are contributing factors to that and it's not because we look out for our nation's own benefit either.

Whaa, I don't know!!!! I don't ever watch the crap. However, one thing I do know is that when I get word of disrespect from a nation who expects us to allow their citizens into our country with open arms,I don't take kindly to it, not at all.

The world does not hate the US because it is rich. The world hates the US because it is arrogant, it lies, it interferes where it does not have the right, and only when it sees a buck to be made, it conveniently forgets countries that have helped it and then denigrates those same countries when they dare to offer an opinion different from the US, it sees treaties as something conveniently transient, it uses its military and financial might to coerce one-sided agreements and it brags and brags and brags.
America has done so little about learning about the culture of the rest of the world that it does not know that most of the world sees a braggart as as being of low thinking and small mindedness. In my country (and many others) it does not matter how good you are and what you have achieved, if you boast you are a jerk and people will cut you down.

Instead of denigrating the rest of the world, the US should be bloody thankful that the world continues to trade with the US. How long do you think the US would remain wealthy if no one bought its food and manufactured products, no one sold it energy and raw materials and it was ostracised until it produced as much oxygen as it used? Take a look at what the US sells. If you remove the food there is little of any real human need - it is all dross and gee-gaws. And the food -genetically modified, poison contaminated and practically flavourless - second rate.

The US needs to get used to being booed and discriminated against. The world has woken up to the lies about US attitudes to human rights and freedom. The world has woken up to the fact that real human value is not based on how many internal combustion engines are in your garage but is based on fairness and peace for all, not just the geographic elite. The US is not only racist within its borders but is racist against the whole of the non-US world. Only when the US realises that other peoples, their way of life and human values are just as (if not more) relevant than the shallow, feeble-minded way of life touted as superior by the nort-american gringo braggarts and starts to try to be friends with the world, rather than being the school-bully, will the US begin to get past the jumped-up teenager stage and start to mature as a nation and people.

What I find funny about this is that this whole topic suddenly was turned into a whole deal regarding illegal immigration, and how Mexicans have no right to boo anyone based on the fact that Americans allow illegal immigrants to stay, and that their actions are racist.

What I find even more funny, is you are debating over an event that gives women, specially younger generations, the sense that beauty has to be a certain way, and that certain way is based according to the guidelines of some random schmoes, and their preconceived notions of beauty. From my point of view, doesn't this damage a lot of what girls and women think about themselves? Does this not damage their self confidence?

Doesn't anyone find it distasteful that they would do this at a pageant that is meant to bring about goodwill? Thats the issue here. Who cares what country their from? Booing at anyone at such an event is pretty low in my opinion, and I feel sorry for the woman who had to endure it.

Those are grevences you need to take up with your government, not with illegals. Its not the illegals fault that their country was economically and politically crushed by one empire or another. Just as it isnt your fault that you as a US citizen suffer economic disparaty (speaking generally of course, there are those that it IS their fault they are suffering economic problems.) If the US government actually gave a damn about its loyal citizenry as it claims, it would start investing in social services that better the quality of life in the US, rather then dumping huge sums of money in the military.

My overall two cents on illegal imigration. The US capitalist government loves it. It acts as a cheap reserve labour pool that depresses wages nationwide. The illegals wont fight back or orgainize for fear of being deported (so the government has already successfully crushed unions without raising a repressive finger.) And to top it all off, the government found a scape goat to blame for the mounting social ills (of course when that scapegoat fails to sing, a war happens to pop up.)

what the (4 letter word starting with F) makes an american more worthy of the american dream than a mexican? the only thing i see is name association. since when did your birth dictate your worthiness in a democratic society? this is the exact problem. you see americans as worth more than mexicans... and that's just messed up in so many ways.

Watching those pageants only makes me horny.Commenting on them makes me feel gay.There are bigger problems facing this nation.We should focus more on how "illegals" keep voting multiple times on American Idol.

While the video does makes any American angry including me . . . after a while I came to the conclusion that Miss USA was not booed because of her person, but rather because she represents our nation.

The booing could have been to show displeasure to our nation involvement in the middle east and nothing to do with racism or immigration issues.

Just an opinion, if somebody else has posted similar views sorry but I have not read the entire thread.

I understand what you're saying, but the fact is, the pageant's participants shouldn't be subject to criticism for their governments actions. Don't you think that being booed hurt her feelings regardless of the reasons for it? I just think it disrespectful to express such feelings at the pageant itself, I could care less about their feelings.

I find it amusing that illegals are the main thing here, and the booing of a bimbo, the real issues here, the DEEP ones are important, most important the hatred that the current USA government has promoted since 2000, and has kept dodging important migration, taxes, drug and bilateral economic trade, the bottom line is that most mexicans dont give a rats ass about the USA government and they insult the USA as a whole (in idiotic ways BTW) because of the hipocritical way those issues have been conducted, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BORDER.

So there you have it the bilateral relations have been real bad for the last 6 years and with Bush and Co. at the helm they dont look like they will improve anytime soon, in fact the whole inmigation and drug issues have been in the doldums for a long time and they just pretend to work on them when elections are close....
