This is to all the people who say it is ignorant to say the world will not end on 2012.

What better reason is there to believe it will end in 2012? People said it would end in 1999 and 2000? Remember Y2K?

IMO the Mayan prophecy is another tool used to create fear in the masses, don't you know, it's the way "they" control us.

Actually the only thing that bothers me about it is the way certain people want it to happen.

Have I read up on it? Yes, but I haven't gotten heavily into it like other people.

I'm not really hostile, just curious as to what this "awaking of the consciousness" and "fourth dimension" talk is all about.

Fair enough, I think everyone is a little curious and the ones that seem to deny it the most IMO are the ones that have the strongest inner sense.

from what i understand (and could be wrong about it ) even the mayans said the world would NOT end ,and that it was the end of the current AGE (whatever THAT means) and the begining of the next one.

in my honest opinon i think it would be like going from june to july (no biggie).

I totally agree and sympathize with the OP. People are too often focused on the "end" and Armageddon. So much so that they forget to enjoy their lives. I feel genuinely bad for those people.

But that's why I am not upset with talking about 2012. Most of the theories I have heard (okay, granted, from people on Coast to Coast) focus on 2012 as not being an end but the beginning of a period of transition. Now, I'm not saying that's going to happen; most likely December 1, 2013 will look much the same as one week prior to that.

But 2012 is not intertwined with eschatology. Sorry to the pessimists out there.

Rest in comfort that it was all said in jest. Politically Incorrect humor is a very subtle litmus test to the audience. To not see it and identify it properly and lashing out is a telling sign of being unconfortable with society at large and possibly yourself.

See Archie Bunker in "All in the Family" for caracture of racism, misogyny and bigotry in the era after the Civil Rights Movement. Be sure you watch that episode guest starring Sammy Davis Jr. very carefully. Be aware that Sammy built his career around finding humor in the very prevalent and blatent racism of his time in Rat Pack days with Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Knowing this you might be able to understand why Archie Bunker's chair is kept in the Smithsonian Museum not as a symbol of ignorance but as triumph over it.

Many people would scream bloody murder if "All in the Family" began production today due to the vitriol that Archie spews. But a small study of the actor would find that neithr Carrol O'Connor nor Jean Stapleton normally spoke with that accent, further evidence that everything on the show was acting. Sherman Hemsley's role was performed so well that he had to keep the character style to make "Amen" somewhat successful as a series. Carrol was able to do an opposite character in "In the Heat of the Night" to a longer run despite having to defeat the intial misperception of "Archie Bunker as a southern sheriff."

For a modern example of well performed acting check out the "Red State Update" on youtube. Granted was political humor but has expanded to cover the redneck stereotype as a whole.

Or consider the show "Dukes of Hazzard" in which the theme was nothing more than common people fighting government corruption. Tom Wompat and John Schnider were scheduled to perform with the Cincinnati Pops this season. Both had performed individually in the past with no problems even doing the theme song in the past. They were dropped from the schedule this year because the Cincinnati Pops did not want to be associated with racism and slavery that the Confederate Flag on the General Lee represented.

One last point to consider, the song "You Have to be Carefully Taught" nearly kept the musical "South Pacific" from being produced because song explained the prevailing theme in the musical that prejudice is a learned behavior. Prejudice was subtly explored throughout the play especially in the relationship between the female American and the older male Frenchman that was in hiding for commiting murder in the past as a crime of passion.

So it would seem despite advancements, we have degenerated as a whole when the clearly labeled humor of a minority (or a maliciously rumored woman) causes the downfall of humanity is still denouced as hate mongering without knowing the true personality of the humorist. That also fall under the defination of prejudice my friend.

But to clear you of a misinformed preconception, it just so happens that the nephew of John Carlos is personal friend and mentor of mine. I have met and had a cookout with Eric's immediately family and am welcomed to stop in and visit anytime. John Carlos is the 1968 Olympic bronze medal winner that was stripped of his medal and had it unceremoniuosly returned years later for participation in a political protest during the awards ceremony. just as the earth, moon, and sun have cyclical periods, so does the galaxy. 2012 might be referred to as the "galactic night".

in "the pharmacratic inquisition" is described the way in which we are actually moving BACKWARD through time. we are all familiar with the yearly procession of the signs of the zodiac, yes? well, there is a similar cycle in which the tilt of the earth's axis wobbles and progresses in the reverse direction from the yearly cycle.

www.pharmacratic-inquisition.com...

synopsis:
the story of moses depicts the killing of the bull and the herald of the ram (the age moving from taurus intto aries). the story of christ is an allegory of moving into the age of pisces. and we are currently moving into the age of aquarious.

the mayan calendar, which (as currently interpreted) comes to an end in 2012, depicts the exact same astrological patterns as the stories in the bible, and many other religions. there is no doubt in the correlation of these astrological patterns to the calendar. 2012 is, therefore, a prediction of a major astrological event.

for a bunch of images and words which are related, but you probably wont understand, follow this link (and tell me what you think)...

The times we live in feel significant to us. But all times felt that way to those living in them.

We just underestimate that.

To an extent yes, but 2012 is real. The times we live in ARE significant, 9/11 is just one example of that.

No one ever asks "why the New World Order" is happening now... the answer to that question relates to 2012.

Its that simple!

To an extent? Sorry, but you are fooling yourself into feeling this is the end time.

Your proof? 9/11?

Like ww2 wasn't worse?

Don't you think people living then were planning for the end of the world?

how about 1666. Great fire of London? People weren't thinking this is it, end of the world?

Part of this is that you feel a little special. If you are alive you MUST be in the end times.

Surely, the end of the world MUST happen in MY life. I AM the centre of the universe, after all.

That has been one of the most true statements I have read on this site. Selfish ego centric humans always promoting their individual self importance even if it means the end of the world.

I'm no expert on 2012, I've read a lot about it but I really fail to understand any of it. Everyone speaks about "galactic" stuff, and really it's all Greek to me. If you think you understand it and you can work out the fancy schmancy calculations, great for you. I don't believe in psychics, and I'm not going to start believing in people that worshiped the sun of all things. AFAIK the Mayans never even really intended much to happen during the time that works out to be our 2012 in the Gregorian calendar. If all of this prediction stuff is so authentic, then why weren't things like 9/11 avoided?

I have lived through 1988, 1989, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003 - all years that were supposed to be "the end" in some way or another (and I'm sure there's more, those are just the ones I know off the top of my head.) When 2012 comes and goes, I suppose 2016 will be next, right?

I would also like to know how this whole "change of consciousness" thing is even remotely realistic. Science says that all 6 billion of us humans evolved from apes, so I guess that makes us animals. Does that mean that my dog and cat will gain consciousness too? Will they be able to understand me, maybe even help with chores around the house?

What happened the last time the last Mayan cycle ended? Or the one before that? Whoa, we humans are still around... figure that out! Every generation thinks that their generation is the last, it's been like that for millenniums, seriously.

Most importantly, don't forget that the people operating those 2012 websites with banner ads all over the place, or the people writing those 2012 or doomsday books, or the guys writing the "Left Behind" series are all making a buck or two off of everyday suckers. Fear-mongering is an old, but still playable technique among the masses.

The Mayans where no dummies. They built fantastic buildings, and beautiful cities, and where guided spiritually, like Native Americans, through mythology and folklore, which usually holds some basis in fact.

If the Mayan calander says things change on Dec 21, 2012, I say, look for something to possibly change.

I don't think it will end on December 21, 2012

It will just be the beginning of a new era, maybe not a pleasant one for a while.

If they were so great why are they not here anymore. They had their end of the world long ago.

There was the whole Y2K panac attack, which turned out to be nothing...

There were all the christians who were just sure Jesus was coming back in the year 2000. Well, if he did, I guess he took a look around, saw American Idol on TV and thought... "What's the point?"

The truth is.... there's always a new doomsday set in front of us.

Now, I'm not discounting 2012 100%. There's no better vision than hindsight. But, here's something to remember.... While everyone was busy worrying about computers failing and Christ making house calls, Bush managed to invade the white house. Now, if that's not the beginning of the end, I don't know what is.

Yup that's what it is, why the crap is everyone so obsessed with the world ending in 2012? Are your lives really that pathetic that you hope for imminent destruction upon mankind?

Sorry to tell you, but it's not ending in 2012, just like it didn't end in 2000.

Also, what's with this theory stating that mankind will obtain a higher consciousness? It sounds like a bunch of new age mumbo-jumbo to me.

If you did a little research into it, then you might see that its not so new-agey after all.

Some people say the 4th through 6th. To me it's a bunch of hogwash, no one on this earth knows what's on the other side of what's going to happen in a few years if it does.

Yeah, the mayans. How many people did they sacrifice I wonder.

Great people to take advice from about the end of the world.
