2012 is NOT something small, nor is it the "end of the world". It is real, and it has already begun.

The only people that will feel like the world is ending are the politicians, the fatcats of the corporations/MIC etc ie those who have control over us at present.

Strange how that almost coincides with the age young earth creationists believe.

I think they started day one of the calendar when their country Aztlan was destroyed.

Not the beginning of the world then.

People have always felt the world about to end. It's built into us.

The times we live in feel significant to us. But all times felt that way to those living in them.

We just underestimate that.

2012 is crap ? hell no, well maybe ...right. I aint sure and no one else on the planet is. The fact is through out history cultures and civilizations that never comunicated (to our knowledge) said 2012, now this is either the biggest coinsednce in history or there is some thing about it. I aint going to try to convince you because its up too you, but do some reading and you'll see that there may be some thing more to it.

Take Care, Vix

Please show me where all these others cultures and nations decided to start:

1. Using the Gregorian Julian calendar

2. Dating their years from the supposed birth of Christ

I know off of the top of my head that most Muslims, Jews, and China dont use either of the above.

To an extent yes, but 2012 is real. The times we live in ARE significant, 9/11 is just one example of that.

No one ever asks "why the New World Order" is happening now... the answer to that question relates to 2012.

Its that simple!

Here's some more fodder for the 2012ers.

NASA has anted its input into the debate (well, sort of) by saying that an extremely rare planetary alignment will occur on June 6, 2012. Venus will cross the disk of the sun on that day.

It's only happened a handful of times in telescope history: 1631, 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874, 1882 and 2004.

The principal events occurring during a transit are characterized by contacts. The event begins with contact I which is the instant when the planet's disk is externally tangent with the Sun. The entire disk of the Venus is first seen at contact II when the planet is internally tangent with the Sun. During the next several hours, Venus gradually traverses the solar disk at a relative angular rate of approximately 4 arc-min/hr. At contact III, the planet reaches the opposite limb and is once again internally tangent with the Sun. The transit ends at contact IV when the planet's limb is externally tangent to the Sun. Contacts I and II define the phase called ingress while contacts III and IV are known as egress. Greatest transit is the instant of minimum angular separation between Venus and the Sun as seen from Earth's geocenter.

You can read about this rare alignment here.

You are very confused.

It is no end of the world scenario. It is the beginning of a new world.

There is no chaos and great destruction unless we choose to go about it that way.

We can move into the new space peacefully.

Oh, found this coincidence as well -- also from NASA.

We are apparently in the quiet before the storm of sun spot activity. The upswing is about to begin.

And when does the solar storm tumult peak? 2012.

This week researchers announced that a storm is coming--the most intense solar maximum in fifty years. The prediction comes from a team led by Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). "The next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one," she says. If correct, the years ahead could produce a burst of solar activity second only to the historic Solar Max of 1958.

NASA's solar storm predictions suggest it peaks in grand scale by 2012.

I don't understand this thread.

You have asked that those who believe in 2012 to let it go, but since we all have opinions about this and everything else, you and I can probably agree that nobody is going to say 'ok, since you asked I will let those opinions go'.

Not only that, it seems that by you bringing it up, all it's going to do is encourage people who do hold that belief to speak up, therefore violating the very thing you were asking for. If you had not started such a post, people probably could've cared less about posting what they believe to be true or not.

Keeping all this in mind I think it is interesting that references to 2012 are communicated in some of the most mysterious crop circles, and I think there may be something to it.

It's not going to bother me one way or the other if you agree with me or not, we'll see in Dec 2012.

One thing is for sure, however:

Either you or I are right or wrong about some or all of this, maybe.

No, it's off topic, plus the rapture is a fake theory created by the Millerites in the 19th century.

Correct about the Millerites. Though it wasn't referred to as "the rapture" during the New Testament, it's still based on Revelations, so it's roots actually go back to the first century A.D.

I'm not saying I buy into any of these theories, but I still enjoy researching them and finding out why it was that the Mayans or early Christian beleived such. Even the Egyptians and Sumerians had similar beliefs. I do find it odd that some of these civilizations exsisted half a world and centuries apart, yet had many similar beliefs of "Sky Gods" and/or "Afterlife".

Thank you so much for saying what I always thought.

Every time someone predicted the end of the world, it never happened. I don't think its going to happen in 2012.

Yup that's what it is, why the crap is everyone so obsessed with the world ending in 2012? Are your lives really that pathetic that you hope for imminent destruction upon mankind?

Sorry to tell you, but it's not ending in 2012, just like it didn't end in 2000.

Also, what's with this theory stating that mankind will obtain a higher consciousness? It sounds like a bunch of new age mumbo-jumbo to me.

Why so hostile? especially with the New agers?

You will get more honey with bees.

@op
well if you call everything about that date bs then you're not well informed either.

as far as prophecies go, nothing says it's the end of the world. (apart from hogwash false translations)

apart from prophecy there are real reasons why 2012 - 2013 are interesting:

-In 2012 our sun will reach solar max again.
-end of 2012 - beginning 2013 our solar system will align with the galactic center.

I hate the associations with 2012 because it prevents people from talking about real things that just happen to coincide with that date. People like you don't help in that respect.

Especially our alignment is worth talking about. Take a look at our history during the last alignment. But hey, get informed yourself first.

I used to think my own growing sense of uneasiness and an obvious flex in technological muscle could be, in some way, contributed to an awesome world-wide paradigm shift in 2012, and that perhaps I was seeing the onset of that. Terrence Mckenna really sold me on it with his interweaving tales and clever metaphors. I drank the Kool-Aid many times over.

But it's too easy to connect the dots ... BECAUSE IT'S IN THE FUTURE ... and you can hope and pray and anticipate all you want, and even convince yourself the Cosmos will render us perfect.

It's fanciful food for thought, that's for sure, but what good will it do to anticipate great change from above? I'm positive that if things are going to improve it's going to have to come from within ourselves, collectively. Same goes for those counting on the rapture; take some responsibility for your life and, if you can, consider the generations that might follow.

I wonder if Mckenna would still be touting all that if he hadn't died.

2012 can be as real or as inconsequential as we want it to be. You wouldn't post this thread unless it bothered you, and I'm not entirely sure you've read up on it much, if at all. Live in the 'now' and don't worry about the future; what will be will be.

Very subtle humor there, I love it. And to add to the humor (note not bigotry but humor)

With a black man or a woman, that might be a closet lesbian, leading the pack for the 2008 US presidency, only the media and dibold know for sure. And you don't think the world or at least the USA won't end within four years of that? Don't need crystals or an aligned chakra for that prediction. Hell even the bees are bugging out now while the gettin' is good.

Am I to understand that because a "closet lesbian" and a "black man" are leading the democratic margin for this election you think the world is near it's end?

I hope this is sarcasm, because if this bothers you enough to feel like it's the end of the world, maybe you should focus your efforts during the last 4-5 years on building a time machine. Then you could zip back in time to the 20-30's when those ideals where more widely accepted. They certainly have no place in the 21st century.

Mankind can not move forward with it's evolution with these types of feelings still looming in it's psyche. People should embrace the future with an open mind and hope – whether they believe the end is near or whether they believe mankind is here to stay.

I'll stop in the year 2013...

Nuff said.

In all honestly, theres a few different things that get me about the year 2013, the mayan calender is just one thing that points specifically to an end or change.

The other one is something called the "pope list." Supposedly there are 2 popes left, including the present one. Kind of adds alittle more fire to the 2012 date (or around that time) bringing a change, or "end."

Add to that the bees, global warming, and growing tensions in the world, well somethings going to happen. Whose to say what will happen...

But I won't stop thinking about it, until 2013...

2012, I got the real scoop in that, we will be 5 years older, we will be more wiser or dumber and the year will come and go just like all the years of our lives so far.

It will be deaths, weddings, divorcers and new britney spears, births, happiness, sorrows and tragedies, we may be still in Iraq or at war with some other unfortunate country that has fallen under the tag of axis of evil.

Hybrids will be more in demand due to the outrageous oil prices and life will go on for the ones that will make it to yet another five years.

BTW religious rapture followers will be still claiming another failed year for their rapture.:Lil:
