I find it quite humorous that most of the folks who despise Americas Royalty (The out of touch and priviledged Bush's), are now shocked...nay, outraged, by the way the British Monarch was abused by GW's slip of the toungue and a wink.

One thing is for certain...

"He did not have sex with that woman....Ms. Windsor...not once...never. Now he has to get back to doing his job and taking care of the business of the American people."

Sometimes a wink is just a wink.

PS: Most of my friends mothers are no longer going concerns.

No surprise really. The man was educated with a banana and an innertube. He most likely thought that she was present in 1776. Chimpy mcflightsuit needs to go back to that dreary day on 9/11 when he was reading the story to the kids in Florida with the book upside down. Classless moron.

Hey, at least the guy can laugh at him self. I think some of you will find anything to criticize this man for. It's starting to become more than absurd.

Are the Brits going to declare war because our President is hitting on the Queen of England?

What is absurd is that a man of this intelligence and vocabulary became president ...

... twice.

I understand slip-ups happen, and at least this time he caught and corrected himself, but he's proved himself a number of times. There's something wrong when America is run by a man who cannot tell a reporter what the word sovereign means.

DW - You must be joking right? Maybe it's a cultural thing. A wink isn't a "come on" in the US. It's a gesture of friendly knowing.

GWs was saying non verbally "I screwed up... I'm a fool, and you and I both know it...sorry old gal!"

Sheesh, it was a funny moment, but this is being so overblown by the Bush-hating media.

He said she was here for the Bicentennial celebration in 17 (brief pause) 1976. Then he made light of his mistake.

In no way did he ever suggest she was here for the American Revolution, it was just a slip of the tongue.

Thank you,,,, the voice of decency and reason,,,,

Maybe if he would have "shot her the bird" it would have been more socially acceptable.
Really, this is absurd.

Sorry about that - I guess I made my own little gaffe. No disrespect intended. Thanks for the lesson!

Not a problem

I'm a bit concerned that even the White House website can't get it right, though

Bush got it right most of the time - they must have gone through his speech with a fine tooth comb since he usually says 'Great Britain'.

If you want to get ultra-technical, isn't she really Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland?

That's the full name of the country, yep. Sort of equivalent to saying 'United States of America'. But as devilwasp points out, her formal title is... well... pretentious to say the least

Still, she is the Queen. I'm glad you guys enjoyed her visit (for the most part, anyway
). Funny old world, isn't it? A couple of centuries ago this kind of thing would have been unimaginable, and yet here we are with the British monarch attending a state dinner at the White House, and thousands of Virginians entering the lottery to get front row seats, and the Queen paying tribute to the Americans who gave their lives during the Second World War - in part for Britain.

The special relationship is as strong as ever, it seems, and I'm thankful for that.

Not to worry. I couldn't possibly be offended by what you think or expect of a third party to whom I'm not personally related or acquainted.

You and anyone else who is so inclined may continue to poke fun of, ridicule, and despise this man as you see fit with no concern for offending anyone but him, his familiy and his friends.

My orginal point was the sweet irony in that most Bush haters owe a large part of their hate toward him and his family to their lives of entitlement and separateness from the unwashed. Then these same American folks who despise Bush's status as American "Royalty" come to the defense of British royalty.

No offence but I dont despise the man, I just wish he would act more subtle with his actions.

Remember this:

en.wikipedia.org...

I chuckled and was rather amazed when I read that...

Ok, so it was 1815... But the British General didn't know the War of 1812 was over?

How the bloody hell did he manage not to find out in 3 years?

Talk about a communications breakdown, even for the early 19th century....

As for the topic, I don't like Bush, but I still think this was just funny. Even the Queen thought so.

Anything we have to say of importance to the Brittish Monarchy we said in 1776.

oooh...Sour grapes there.

Honestly.. She comes over to celebrate YOUR history and look at YOUR achievements (NASA), enjoys YOUR culture (Kentucky derby) and also offers her condolences directly to victims of another one of YOUR School shootings, yet you still feel the need to snipe.

Grow up. We're supposed to be friends...

everyone knows that the queen is reptilian and was alive in 1776

Ok then....

So how do you explain the pictures of Queen Elizabeth from the time she was a baby to her now?

Seriously, back this up. I'm interested to see what drivel you come up with to explain how she managed to remain hidden for 160 odd years, then pretended to be a baby, then a young woman, then Queen......

Dude....

And all I can say..

is that she is the Queen of the UNITED KINGDOM not England.

I have come soooo close to e-mailing FOXNews and explaining to them what the United Kingdom is and England is not a country.

As an Irishmen, I am quite offended that Americans seem to ignore Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK.

WE ARE NOT ENGLAND.

And you have successfully made a Republican stand up for the Monarchy (which is rare)

I'm sorry to be a little pedantic, but she isn't the Queen of England. There hasn't been a King or Queen of England for three centuries (since the Act of Union between Scotland and England in 1707). She's the Queen of the United Kingdom (She isn't the Queen of Great Britain, either - there hasn't been one of those since 1801, when Ireland was added to the UK)

Sorry dude, but Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales.

It still very much exists, as the full name of our country is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Even with the full Irish Union, it was The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Should we ever give up N.I, we would be called The United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Great Britain is the name of the rather large island we live on.

I'm aware of that, but it's just as incorrect to call her the Queen of Great Britain because she's also the monarch of Northern Ireland, hence why we use the Queen of the United Kingdom.

As I said earlier (except with the analogy of Bush and the President of Texas/the USA), in theory she is the Queen of England but that's only because England is part of the United Kingdom. There is no separate title that makes her the Queen of England, just as there is no separate title that makes her the Queen of Great Britain alone.

If Northern Ireland was ever to leave the United Kingdom then it is possible that we may revert back to the national name of 'Kingdom of Great Britain', and then it would be correct to use the term Queen of Great Britain.
