This is my first attempt at putting a pic on here, hope it works. Not a good photo either but can anyone tell if it's real or fake? I wondered, what is it you look for?

Well I'm guessing your silence on this means you're all stumped. It's actually a genuine UFO.

It is! I'd show you more but none of them are very good and I wouldn't want to bore you any more than you seem to be already.

Well - Thats very poetic and thoughtfull of you..thanks..

Poetry: is a form of art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its ostensible meaning. Poetry may be written independently, as discrete poems, or may occur in conjunction with other arts, as in poetic drama, hymns or lyrics.

I agree im pretty bored..

Photoshop and CGI have nothing on the good ole hubcap chucked in the air.

I couldn't resist when I came across one the other day.

Actually, Im quite impressed with my camera and throwing skills.

I winged that hubcap out into the mesosphere.

Amazing easy to get a simple fake with no work.

Of course the dirty hubcap with a chevy symbol on it may give it away.

If anything, so far this thread only proves that it's harder then people think to hoax photo realistic UFOs.

It doesn't prove it. It just demonstrates that a couple of people tried and the results aren't very convincing

You have to invest time, like that Australian 'art' group. Or the sci-fi channel adds that people regularly come to post here and ask if they are real or not.

Oh, great. How long before this one circulates the interweb, and winds up in a new thread here:

"OMG!!!!! I Just saw a flying hubcap!!!!!!!"

Let's not forget the old "object on window" trick.

Or my personal favorite. Manipulate a real photo in photoshop, add your ufo/alien. Then make a print of that image (the larger the better) . Now for the trick.. Take a picture of the image, then post the raw camera image complete with exif data, and no "Adobe Photoshop" tags to be found. Of course, the image will lose sharpness, but for all intents will appear to be a genuine photograph.

So are we just disregarding all the tons photos of 'UFOs' that exist from way BEFORE Photoshop was even dreamed of?

If it's whether UFOs exist or not that's in question, photos only represent a PART of the evidence to be considered anyway, y'know? What about the statements made by people who used to work at the 'Hanger 18' complex for NASA and the military in the US - 'back-engineering' gravity drives from so-called 'UFO' wreckage? I will try to find a link for this one story - it was on TV years ago, but I wouldn't really know where to go for it - will keep you posted...

It's been interesting to see the attempts by people to do the faking thing - I can hear the arguments on both sides about whether it's a positive step or not - jury's out for me really...

Photo editing and manipulation has been around as long as cameras have been around. Well before the computer and Photoshop.

Anyone interested in UFO's since the 1970's knows a popular form was double exposure. Forced perspective is another (ala Bill Meier). In fact in the 1960's and 70's double exposed negatives where used to explain many UFO shots. We had plenty of fun and success with double exposures in Photo lab class in the early eighties.

Perhapse all the real ones are from someone with photoshop in the future who went back and fooled around in the 80s and 90s before the technology was there?

I think this has to be the most realistic looking. Of course it looks like a hub cap, but all the realism is there. No earmark "doctored" signs. I guess if you're going to go for the realistic fake, best to build a model and chuck it into the air.
