To many...including me, it proves there is a God.

And its not only the vastness of the Universe that reveals God's existence, it's also its diversity, harmony, and symetry at all scales.

Nice scale reference. I wonder all the time about the universe and in general our role in this massive space. It boggles my mind how many possibilities there are.

Why would a ominpotent God need to set rules for a universe?

If God has the power to change anything anytime, the rules that govern the universe would be irrelevent, there is no need to study the universe, there is no need for science.

The universe would only a simulation/test/illusion to see if the creations get sidetracked with all these distractions.

It would not be nessesary to contruct or create a universe or an entire universes for this purpose either. Unless God was really, really bored.

Which could explain why a ominpotent God needs our worship, when robots or other being with lower intelligence would do the job better, God wanted a challenge....

Who created God? Everything has a beginning and an end, right? When was God created and by whom? Who is God's God? I don't understand why men state things as fact when they have no real idea, other than what they've been told. I'm sure there is ALOT more to existance than any religion can even begin to explain, so I say give it a rest, enjoy life, and treat everybody with respect so we can all enjoy our limited stay on this speck of dust.

Cool pics in this thread though, sometimes at night when looking up into space, it really freaks me out to think we're just floating on a tiny ball in such a huge universe, and then trying to think what's beyond what we know, what's beyond dark matter, where's the end? What is beyond the end?

It is nice to see that there are clear minded people

I totally agree with your first paragraph. Our belief or diselief is a total irony. It is enough when you live respectfully and behave others respectfully.

In regard to second paragraph, I have a feeling of wondering rather than freaking when we consider that we can think on the borders of this universe while we are nothing in the sense of quantity. This feeling of wondering give me some kinf of meaning of science and history. But these are long issues. If we have time and patience, lets discuss

The Hubble is a space telescope that is in Earth's Orbit. i forgot how many pictures it took to get all those images of galaxies but that was only a tiny portion of space.

The Hubble telescope cannot take a photo of our galaxy, because it cannot see what our galaxy looks like from our solar system.

if we were to take a photo of our galaxy we'd have to leave our galaxy to take the picture.

Therefore in that famous pic,our galaxy is not there.

And btw That picture is also like a grain of sand compared to the number of galaxies that goes on and on and on and on and on.

And to the person who said the Universe is expanding. Thats a Lie

the Universe Has Always been there. it has been there for an infinite amount of years and will continue to be the universe for an infinite amount of years.

There is no "end" of the universe it is neverending. AKA "infinite"

Galaxies go on forever and ever, infinetly. and some well educated scientists would also agree with that theory.

i guess we will have to wait till we die to find out if im correct =)

the universe wasnt created by the Big Bang. there is evidence to support that that is false. the Universe Has Always been there. it has been there for an infinite amount of years and will continue to be the universe for an infinite amount of years.

The best side of science is that it tries to avoid such statements like above. You try to use some scientific concepts like "evidence" but it is totaly unscienctific the way you are talking.

I mean, you are making very sharp comments against the very credible scientific theories right now; while these theories have thousands of pages of research, you only have some sharp words as "never", "just" etc..

My theory is based on two beliefs, that our universe is currently expanding and that is resembles a spherical shape. This raises the question of what can exist outside this spherically expanding universe?

The answer is, there are similar spherical shaped universes surround our universe. All simulatenously expanding at the same rate because of a synchronization that exists with these symmetrically organized universes. The reason for this behavior is that is creates a chain effect which allows an infinite expansion and deflation process. This process explains how an infinite existance is possible and furthermore explainsthe future of what we currently know as the universe. This expansion/deflation process can best be described by the following analogy:

Picture a bowl of marbles. There spheres arrange themselves in such a way that there is one point which holds SIGNIFICANT important. I call it, the triple point. The triple point is the smallest empty space available between three marbles, even when considering the three-dimensional layers created by the marbles. Each of the marbles in the bowl represent a single universe. Now in reality, these universes exist infinitely in numbers and are not limited to some sort of cosmic bowl. In the center of each clear marble is a black dot. At some point in time this black dot represents all the matter, particles, anti-matter, dark-matter, and energy compressed within that universe. This compressed ball is so unstable it explodes (corresponding with the Big Bang Theory). Now the black dot in the center of the clear marble grows. It grows equally at the same rate and same relative time as the other black dots within every other marble. They are synchronized. Once the black dot grows to the boundary of the clear marble you will now have a bowl filled with black marbles. These universe have no where left to expand to, except for the empty void of the triple point. While the universes collide, the triple point fills up. The triple point becomes a massive ball of energy, particles, and matter. This creates a gravity powered vacuum that takes in all the particles and matter of the surround universes. This creates a new black dot within a new marble. It would appear to an observer viewing this event from a three-dimensional perspective, that the marbles have shifted over, because now where there were triple points, there are marbles, and at the center of where the old set of universes were, there are now triple points.
Now once again, the new super massive ball of particles and energy explodes again into another Big Bang. This is a endless cycle that has always existed and explains how infinite existance can be possible, which I suggest a synchronized and symmetric system.

Evidence of an infinite universe

Now this is better...I mean it is better than to claim that the expanding was a "lie" etc...
Don't forget that the "infinite theory" is also a theory.
Are there also some researches against the big bang (as you claimed)? I am just curious, no offending.

edit: I just saw your long post. I have to go now, and will it read later. I am excited

See u soon.

Well, I didn't mean to say I freak out in a 'bad' way, sometimes it all just kinda hits me at once, I think we are naturally inclined to feel like the earth is everything, that it is all stable and solid. But sometimes when you have the realization that our planet is a microscopic speck of dust floating in a huge cosmic shooting gallery, you lose that feeling of stability and feel the earth floating. But it's good to wonder about the universe, sometimes I get the feeling that I have it all figured out somehow inside me, but the explanation is just beyond comprehension, it's kinda wierd...

That's a big claim. Have you got any proof? If not, then I'll take it as your unsubstantiated opinion rather than fact.

For everyone that feels a deep urge to hold on to the idea that a God created the Universe can you please answer the following question rationally?

Who or what created God?

If the answer is that God has always existed then why, using reason and logic, is it so unthinkable that the universe has always existed?

Note that within the term 'God' I am implying sentience.

Why can't theists grasp that the concept of God is entierly unncessary and completely redundant! In fact it does not explain anything at all. Saying God created the universe is nothing more than a non-answer.

We are in the milky way, so it isn't on that image. It's not possible to photograph it while being in it.

The MilkyWay is a barred spiral galaxy. Maybe that will help you find images of other galaxies that look somewhat like ours.
Some barred spiral galaxies to try and look for:
M91 / Messier 91
NGC 1300

I don't know if hubble looked at those yet. but worth a shot on google image search.

The way he said it wasn't very scientific, but these are the new theories that are arising from quantum physics.
btw It's the Expanding Universe Theory and the Big Bang Theory.. and in all honesty these new views are.. theories

None of these are fact.. it's all theory.

doesnt really matter how big the universe is anyways. and it doesnt even matter if we get the means of travelling those distances because when we die,the universe will be our playground and we will be able to go anywhere we please.

My opinion of course
