The Palestinians are a largely uneducated people, ignorant to the point of not knowing any better. Instead of funding money to Israel to build more tanks to displace more innocent Palestinians people, the congress should allot more funding toward educating and enlightning the surpressed Palestinians, no?

Flat out not true. Education levels among the Palestinian-Arabs are comparable to education levels in the United States. Literacy for both men and women is among the highest of Arab nations.

Are the Palestinian-Arabs responsible for their leadership? Thats debatable. My inclination is to say not, but after 35 years of indoctrination, where their political and religious leadership preaches hate, where streets and hospitals are named for suicide-murderers, and anyone openly pushing for moderation or peace is killed as an Israeli collaborator, its not surprising that there is so much support for violence among the Palestinian-Arab people. I dont hold the Palestinian-Arab people responsible, they are just pawns in a larger game, but after so much indoctrination their hate and capacity for violence is very real and cant be brushed away.

It takes a lot more than just desperation to make a suicide-bomber. Check out the following site:

I would not. I guess it's my vainity. I hate to call suicide bombings noble, but to believe in a cause so much that you are willing to die fighting for it is just as noble as it is blind. If I were palestinian I would go the way of Martin Luther King, but he wasn't fighting an enemy that believe they are actually God's chosen people...my goodness...you'd damn near have to blow yourself up to make a dent in that thick skull. Truly.

I'm not in their shoes and pray I never have to face what has happened to them or any people displaced because lines are drawn in some smoking room filled with elite european aristocrats.

No I wouldn't become a suicide bomber. There's nothing I would die for at this point in my life. I sure as hell wouldn't die to protect my country from a foreign invader.

Also, being an agnostic, I'm not sure what happens when you die. I'd rather not take any chances and life as long as possible.

The Palestinian homicide bombers are not desperate, they are fanatical.

Despite their harsh living conditions, the Palestinians are alot better off then millions and millions of other people around the world. Palestinians, for the most part, are all very literate and receive primary and secondary educations. Most speak two or three languages, and are educated on current world events. Most Palestinians are well fed and have access to sufficient drinking water. They also are freed to practice their religion in freedom (as long as you are a Muslim). Also, despite what you see on TV, many Palestinians own vast tracts of land which is used to grow food, grapes for wine, olive groves, and for herding goats and sheep. A good percentage of Palestinians are employed or own their own businesses. And millions and millions of dollars are pouring into The West Bank and Gaza Strip, yet you can bet that those dollars are not being spent on the people.

Now, compare that to some poor, unlucky schlub who has had the unfortunate luck to be born in The Congo, or North Korea, or maybe in the slums of Kandahar. There are millions of people around the world who do not have a place to stay dry in the rain. There are millions more who cannot feed their own children. And there many, many more who will never know what personal freedom is. For crying out loud, there are people living in parts of the good ole USA who are worse off than the average Paletstinian! (just look around the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky or out in the desert South West).

No, the Palestinans are blowing themselves up because they are fanatiacal believers of a religion of death, and they are being deceived by their own leaders. They would be wise to put aside their violent ways and negotiate in good faith in order to gain worldwide support. It will be the only way they will ever gain their own freedom and autonomy.

No, its much easier to get a rifle and start sniping Israeli's. Why kill yourself, when you can just pick off the Israeli's and still live. I guess that's the part I will never understand.

Exactly. Suicide bombers aren't born of desparation, or fanaticism....it is a financial arrangement. The sponsors of these acts are agreeing to pay their surviving family members a good sum of money for the act. Because a suicide bombing is a more potent political message, and screams idealism, more than a simple sniper attack. For a family that is struggling financially, it is a logical decision, and ensures that they will be provided for. If it was a fanatic, he'd be picked up way before he pressed the button. The ones making the agreement however, can keep their cool, because they focus on what it will mean for their family.

It's disgusting. And there is NO, I repeat NO justification for the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians by these suicide bombers. It is pure selfishness, them trying to better their family, at the expense of destroying other families, and it MUST not be tolerated as a viable tool of negotiation.

I totally agree. So many problems in the world would be solved if there weren't any countries or governments.

There would be no fighting over borders because there wouldn't be any.

Governments wouldn't start wars over petty stuff. I think alot of the worlds problems would be solved.

Villiayth

They wouldn't be solved, because a one-world government would get so much power and would be SO unbelievably corrupt that they would start wars between different religions (if not countries) and factions, groups, cults, clubs.. anything. Wars and violence would be all over the place anyway. Countries aren't necessary for that. The world also has no problems, death, violence, hate, crime aren't problems. They teach you something don't they? If there was only heaven on earth you wouldn't know about caution against criminals, about wars, about all that. So if something ever started to happen NO one would know how to stop it or what it even is, people just wouldn't have a prior experience to reference off of. So nope, there are no problems in this world. It is what it is for a reason, just learn from it

I would sacrifice my self if I knew I would save the world or stop some terrorist from detonating a nuke or something of that nature.
I cant believe these Islamic extremist/fanatics really believe they are gonna go to heaven for killing innocent people. I can understand the financial incintive for their families though. Those who do that are ignorant savages and people like that make me wish there is a hell so they will get what they deserve.

No I would not become a suicide bomber for any reason. It just seems kinda stupid because if you kill yourself then thats it you cannot go on hoping to make a difference you are done and gone.

I beleive this sums it up nicely

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Many here believe sucide bombers go and blow themselves up for money, but many people I've heard about die not for money, but freedom.

If you ask Palestine college students if they are willing to blow up a bus containing 20 Israelis what do you think they would say?

I think they will blow them up for what the Israel has done to them.

Saying is one thing....doing, quite another..... I don't know about you, but I've lived with them...they'll shout and cry about a lot, but when it comes time to act, most won't be there......

I'm sure there are a few fanatics, but as the man so often says....follow the money. If you follow the money, and look at these bombers' family before and after the act....I'd wager you'll see a drastic change in income....

I think that suicde bombers are one the lowest ways to die. For several reasons. killing civilians is just not right, once some one takes up arms against an military member, they have lost the civilian status and should not be treated as such.

The biggest reason that I think suicde bombers are the scum of the earth is because of the lost of innocent lives. They do not have the morals or guts to face some one of same caliber and fight solider to solider. It does not take courage to kill childern. Our childern have for to long been targets for terrorist. Many know that childern will be safe because we just can not sink to such a low level and start killing their childern.

This site can educate the Westerner of the nature of services in Palestinian-Arab controlled lands:

www.memri.org...

The following report consists of Palestinian sermons from 2000-2003. Each Khatib (preacher) is a paid employee of the Palestinian Authority (PA). The sermons are broadcast live every Friday at noon from mosques under control of the PA and are shown on PA television. Part I of this report includes the common themes of the sermons, such as: calls for the destruction of the U.S., the perceived American Crusader war against Islam, honoring Shahids and the rewards of the martyrs, educating children to martyrdom, and antisemitism, including calls for the killing of Jews. Part II includes Palestinian leaders being questioned by Western journalists about the content of the sermons, and is followed by Part III, the transcripts of the Friday sermons.

....

Sermons often call for Palestinians to become martyrs, or Shahids. Within the sermons, it is told that those who become a Shahid feel no pain and receive rewards in the afterlife, such as 72 black-eyed virgins. Family members of the Shahids are also praised in sermons. As Sheikh Isma'il Aal Radhwan stated, "[Even when] a martyr's organs are being chopped off, and he turns into torn organs that spread all over, in order to meet Allah, Muhammad, and his friends, it would not be [considered] a loss This is the honor given to our martyrs, the martyrs of the Islamic nation, who were killed due to their loyalty to Allah... The sacrifice of convoys of martyrs [will continue] until Allah grants us victory very soon. The willingness for sacrifice and for death we see amongst those who were cast by Allah into a war with the Jews, should not come at all as a surprise Oh believing brothers, we do not feel a loss... The martyr, if he meets Allah, is forgiven with the first drop of blood; he is saved from the torments of the grave; he sees his place in Paradise; he is saved from the Great Horror [of the day of judgment]; he is given 72 black-eyed women; he vouches for 70 of his family to be accepted to Paradise; he is crowned with the Crown of glory, whose precious stone is better than all of this world and what is in it" [8]

The virtues of martyrdom are the subject of many of Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiris's sermons: "Blessings to those who wage [Jihad] with their body Blessings to our Shahids who sacrifice their souls easily for the sake of Allah B lessings to the happy Shahids within the entrails of the green bird in Paradise. Blessings to the Shahids whose sins are forgiven with the first drop of their blood." [9] On another occasion, he stated, "Know that a Shahid [who falls] on this land is considered more than one Shahid someplace else. Yes, there are traditions that a Shahid here [in Jerusalem] is worth 70 Shahids in a place other than this good land" [10]

Regarding the rewards of the martyrs, Sheikh Mudeiris stated in a sermon on May 2, 2003: "No preacher or sermonizer has right to begin his words without blessing all our Shahids The Jews cannot influence the actions of our youth and children. But for you, Allah has chosen Shahada Allah had honored our youth by choosing you and by choosing from among you the Shahids Is the Shahid dead like other dead, which requires us to offer condolences and mourn with his family, friend and relatives? Or is the Shahid enjoying virtues and the ability to perform miracles, which gives us the right to congratulate the Shahid and his family?... We have the right to congratulate the Shahids' families, and not extend condolences and sorrow of our Shahids, if they [sacrifice themselves] to Allah But the Shahid is spared the agony of death. This is one of the miracles of the Shahid. Is it not enough that the Shahid weds 72 black eyed [virgins]?... When the Shahid sees the grace of martyrdom and death for the sake of Allah he will wish to return to this world to be killed in it ten times The Shahid - is it enough for him that he does not feel the blow of the sword or the pain of death or of the killing rather, as one of you feels a [wasp] sting" [11]

The page is very long with lots of interesting reading. This is just a small sample.

surfup... Just because it is wrong, does not mean people do not do it. Take for example murder, it is done everyday of the year but it is still wrong.

Sucide Bombing is a form of terror not worship. Why do I think this way? If your higher power wants to see to what depths you would go to for him/her, and wants to committe suicide then so be it on your part. But how can any one justify the killing of inconnet lives because they want to reach some thing that may not exist in the first place.

They are willing, but they don't usually blow up civilians unlike some people who are willing and happy to do that.

All i can say is a would do anything to protect and serve my country. Living in the United States is a part of my dignity.
I would hope it would never lead to killing innocent people. But, innocent people are killed everyday. Besides, it's part of the bigger picture.
