What is the government's motivation to keeping UFO data secret?

I tend to agree with what Dr. Stephen Greer says on the subject. In his books its really a simple reason why the militaryindustrial complex keeps a lid on things...

Right now the world is pretty much run by NATO led by the USA and a few other nations. Look at the arrogance of America whenever another country "threatens" to develop nuclear technology. The USA and its allies are allowed such power but anyone else is a threat if they dare develop such technology.

Much of the world's nations remain stuck in hopeless poverty with no hope to escape. They live in debt and follow the rules of the american/allies policies designed to benefit a small elite few.

FREE ENERGY changes all of this. It frees the world from poverty. It will will give each nation the power to demand an EQUAL voice in world affairs. A small nation wont be forced to borrow money and bow down to a foreign power's policies. A village in africa wont need a trillion dollar infrastructure built to have power or clean water.

In short, the United States and its friends cant dictate policy anymore.

The asnwer comes down to an age old nemesis, RACISM.

The white nations of the world dont want to share power with nations of color.

The proof is obvious. Ask yourself this, ever wonder why africa and south america seem to remain in a constant state of poverty, war, and famine ?

"free energy" technology, should it exist, would benefit technically sophisticated nations even more than poorer ones. Did the Racist West keep electromagnetic technology secret to keep the Brown Poor People Down? No. They sell them cell phones. Everybody benefits.

The only reason I could see is if this mythical "free energy" technology were capable of being easily subverted to make enormously destructive bombs.

If every "free energy" powered car were capable of being hot-wired into a megaton blast, then maybe it would be a good idea to keep it covered up.

Very true. Racism and xenophobism are the real dynamic behind the last semi-century of US politics. Applied to outer space, we can imagine how they must have reacted towards EBEs, after discovering them in New Mexico back in 1947.

This wouldn't be the case if hydrogen fuel cells and fusion technology were fully developed and utilised. The 'personnel' required in the production, processing and transport of oil could instead be used the same for extraction (of hydrogen), processing and transporting of hydrogen fuel cells. I have asked this question to myself many times recently in seach of a realistic answer. Remember those optical illusions popular about 10 years ago? The key was you had to look past everything, thru the static & noise (almost cross your eyes) and only then would the image jump right out at you?

Let's see...if information and secrets had been passed down through an interstate (secret society) for ages, and they really did gain an all-seeing perspective on this life, this reality, this meaning, this existance I would imagine they would probably know quite a bit about who we really are and where we're from. And in the grand scheme (if there is one) I CANNOT believe they wouldn't acknowledge this bit about the year 2012 (or if that date upsets your inner child, just say "this century" Ok....whatever I know some people don't dig the date thing) What I'm stabbing at is a mass global destruction, pole shift, loss of gravity, something .....I dunno...SOON. Maybe there is some definitive understanding of our planet re-setting itself.
Maybe there are archeological expeditions that have proven our upcoming extinction.

So if this group of elite were to anticipate this event.....and money, power, materials was NO object whatsoever for these people....working only on the technology aspect of things. I would think naturally there is some sort of privatized drive to get off of this planet at all costs, as fast as possible. An the people orchestrating it believe they've earned the right to privacy.

And I am trying to be level about this and not sci-fi, so please respect. I look out my window at the way things have changed in my lifetime alone......very scary outside that window. I've started to watch this psycological warfare thing called the "TV" again after about a 2-3 year break in attempts to explain what is blatantly wrong with many people today. Why have 10.10 trillion UFO reports have been made and we're not on the same page with the people who know the most??? I think people forget that question alone still being asked at this point in the game makes for a huuuuuuuuuuuge answer!

It would not suprise me if the reason this information was supressed was part of an ENORMOUS picture we aren't allowed to see. But I feel like this is all going to change soon. These have been my thoughts as of recently.

But how much power do they get from this supposed knowledge, if it is maintained so secretly, that nobody gets to USE it??

It's effectively useless then.

I'm sure many of these people would love to be the new JD Rockefeller, three times as rich as Bill Gates, by being the founding investors in General Gravitation, but so far, the world has gone on completely on its own without any UFO stuff having anything to do with 99.999999% of the real world reality.

So, I don't buy this. If (and I have no idea) there are ETs here who are responsible for UFOs, they and nobody else is primarily responsible for the coverup. I bet the 'elite' probably have no coherent idea or clue, there's nothing real to report other than "WTF?" and "sorry cant' do anything about it", so they don't.

For now, knowledge has been equal to power. Thanks to the study of UFOs and the covert contact with extraterrestrials, America has gathered a huge technological advance on other nations. The U.S. Army is apparently already engaged in operations around the solar system that would seem like outright SF magic to most people.

But one day -- sooner rather than later -- you can be so knowledgeable that you isolate yourself completely from reality. Which decreases power substantially, because no one will want to have anything to do with you. And when you finally share your knowledge with the world, the maintained secrecy on UFOs then reveals itself as historically childish and shameful.

The cover up has reached that point where it hurts its own usefulness by now.

Well, immense power too.

The altruistic side of this being that if any of these new exotic technologies were released wholesale our collective econmies would certainly collapse due to the huge industrial vacuums it would cause. That is, if these guys holding it back give a crap about such things. If they care about what happens in the long term, the big picture.

The evil side of it is control. Control, money and power. To control the direction of our government, maybe even the path of humanity. Certainly to hold the public as technological hostages for as long as possible.

If this is what is happening, NASA is a joke. A very very expensive front, facade to appease the publics eyes and to divert from what is really happening just under the surface of our government and its agencies.

Then again, I may be full of it....who knows?

Money is a good reason. End of humanity? Maybe. But think about all the technology in the last 30 years. The government just didn't throw it all out there at once. They slowly put it out there for public use. I definetly believe that the government has technology right now that would blow our minds. Zero energy for example. There goes all the money & taxes we pay for electricity, fuel for our vehicles, etc. Domination of the earth might be another reason, but I think all the governments have alien technolgy for the most part. And if we all showed our guns at once then we're back to the beginning again. I personally wouldn't trust the government with anything. I believe that the government should be afraid of the people instead of the people being afraid of the government, but who has the time and money to do anything about it. Me and my wife have to work, Me days and her nights. With our children and work and high prices we don't have time to fight back. The government likes it that way. That's why most people can't retire until they're 65 or older and by then they're to worn out to do anything. Maybe it's not the government we know. Maybe it's the black government. The ones that nobody should know about, working in the background, unseen and manipulating our government to do it their way without them knowing about it. Yeah there's plenty of reasons to cover it up and keep what the government doesn't want us to know in secret. But money and power is my guess.

An often neglected yet pivotal reason for the initial cover up, imo, was the frequent appearance of UFOs at nuclear missile sites, and UFO interference with nuclear testing.

In the midst of the Cold War, if there ever was a reason for a big cover up, that would cut it.

I hate responding to 5 year old threads but this is a good question with however, an answer very easy to give.

What is the motivation to keep UFO data secret?

1. MILITARY POWER. With unseen technology in possession, one that you would reveal against your enemies only in such case that your country is threatened or if you want to achieve world domination. Not to say travel to distant stars being first in the space competition.

2. HEALTH AND ENERGY. With improved health and new forms of energy, you sure possess the most important resources. Such is their advantage that keeping them in secret to non-existence sounds logical.

3. NEW ENLIGHTENMENT. That would be imminent as a result of the collapse of the current system - religion would be put in question, all of these lies poured to the masses by the Church and the Church itself would collapse. A new way of thinking would follow, people would question everything TOLD BY THE CHURCH AND EVEN BY TODAY'S SCIENCE

4. NEW WORLD ORDER. Or simply the result of the mentioned collapse of the old system, political unrest, people would try to put down those who have hidden the secrets for so long, in return mass extinction would follow - bio and nuclear weapons will quickly shut those trying to resist the new regime and the powers that be.

5. ALIENS would be a whole new factor.

Is it really so hard to figure out what would happen? Depopulation, regimes, wars, all that many abductees claim to have been shown, yet I saw all this in my own dreams.

There's nothing to keep secret. There are no UFO's, therefore there is no information about them. People just have a hard time accepting that.

UFOs are real, sorry but evidence is all over - no one argues their existence, only whether its aliens is what they argue. I think you should start from Cash&Landrum case, radiation poisoning, burns, hair loss eliminates the idea jhat it is in someone's head and just imagination.

What else could it be that would justify a legal cover-up?

It used to be we could barely hurt ourselves and through time we became smarter and developed tools to hurt ourselves in even more deadly ways than we could have imagined a few years before. Today we have crazies and others out in the world hurting not just themselves and the innocent bystander but able to deliver death and destruction on a much larger scale. Remember when we were all so worried about nuclear weapon schematics hitting the internet and the thought of people building them in their garage was all the worry? Well what if tomorrow the information was released that showed us all how to easily work with endless energy platforms? Quite a few of our readers here on ATS blow up and rage at the simple writing of other people. I would love to have a bright shiny red Lazar sport model with the power to go off on my own way but, I would not release it to the public if I thought for a second that some idiot could use it to blow up his garage or house or neighborhood or school or state or country or world. I believe the type of power we are talking about to travel over space at extreme or even limited speeds could be easily a million fold over our current nuclear technology. So as much as I want it, if I were the military I would not release that info, but, ...I would atleast say they are out there and work all the safe ends of the technology for the improvement of the world,.......... if they exist at all that is.
