Leeds are believed to be close to finalising a short-term rescue package designed to stave off the imminent threat of administration.

The club have a week to find a buyer before a January 19 deadline imposed by major creditors, who are owed a combined 82million, otherwise the administrators could soon be moving into Elland Road.

But Leeds today confirmed to the Stock Exchange that while they are in "continuing, constructive discussions with a number of parties", none of the proposals "contemplates an offer for the company's shares".

Looks like they are not going to make the deadline unless something drastic happens, this could send Leeds well down the tubes.

Well it looks like they are getting more time as Trevor Birch's good relationship with Leeds' creditors is helping to postpone administration. How much more time they going to get,its just postponing the inevitable.Unless something happens fast they are going to run out of patience.

They are so desperate, can you see many players staying,i rekon Viduka and Smith could go,Leeds are in desperate trouble and look a good bet to get relegated now.lol

Leeds caretaker manager Eddie Gray backed the spirit of his bottom of the table Barclaycard Premiership side to see them through the current Elland Road financial crisis after a brave late rally just failed to save a point in the 2-1 defeat at Southampton.

Leeds have until 1700 GMT on Friday to raise enough money to satisfy their principle creditors and stave off administration. It looks like takeover talks at Leeds are at an advanced stage according to a representative of the consortium hoping to save them from administration.

Looks like they actually did it as Leeds United players have agreed to a wage deferral of more than 20 percent to help the struggling club avoid going into administration.

They have bought themselves some time but i think its only delaying the inevitable, they are going to go down and the club will have to sell all the players, they will still end up in debt after that,it could spell the end of Leeds for quite a few years unless someone pumps millions into the club and i can't really see that happening.

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of former England international Nicky Barmby on a month's loan from Leeds.

The 30-year-old playmaker has found first-team opportunities at Elland Road few and far between this season and has decided to join Forest in their battle to avoid relegation from Division One.

Forest boss Joe Kinnear is hoping the deal can be made permanent during the summer.

Well they gave themselve's a chance today as Leeds grabbed a relegation lifeline and dragged Blackburn closer to the drop zone after a 2-1 victory at Ewood Park on Saturday. The result means Leeds are still in the relegation zone but level on points with fourth-from-bottom Portsmouth.
