1 - If there were an Al-Qaeda supporters rally in the US, how many arrests do you envisage ?

2 - Why haven't there been such arrests at KKK meetings ?

both are terror organisations that have nothing to do with peace and love, but just hatred.

3 - Al Qaeda is a very veryyyyyyyyyy loose term, coined by the CIA, check the thread called 'Are you an Al Qaeda sympathiser'. Anyone of muslim descent who disagrees with the US, is Al Qaeda and tahts BS !

elevatedone: "Attending a known terrorist organizations training camps isn't or shouldn't be considered "terrorist intentions" ?

Again, any good logical reasons why they would attend this camp, other than "terrorist intentions" ? "

Who's to say these guys went to see what the hell these wackos were doing and eventually would realize, once back in the States, that Al Qaeda was full of lunatics?

If they had "training", does this imply that they were somehow brainwashed and then sent back to the United States as mindless fanatical Arab killbots?

The most telling part of the article for me is :

"Elaine Cassel, a Virginia lawyer and civil rights advocate, calls the Lackawanna case "one of the worst examples of the vengeful Bush and Ashcroft battle against terrorism."

"It's like the movie "Minority Report,' " Cassel said. "The idea is, "Let's go out and arrest people before they actually commit a crime, or even think of a crime.' ""

I wouldnt envision any protesters being arrested as it is in the law to have the ability to protest. The arrests would come from people trying to beat the protesters up.If they were not allowed to protest, I would imagine it would be because it is a threat to the government and promotes overthrowing the government. KKK does not have the intentions of overthrowing the government, they would just like to alter the rules of law to have the America they envision.(White-Christian America)

2 - Why haven't there been such arrests at KKK meetings ?Because they have the right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression no matter how #ty their views may be. The constitution was set up to make sure that no majority could ever become to strong and that every minority has equal rights as the majority. In fact, a 1978(believe that was the year) a KKK rally was setup for a small Jewish town of Skokie Ill. The people of the city found out and protested against the rally, that ended up in the Courts who ruled under the Bill of Rights, the KKK had just as many equal rights to protest in public as does anyone else....It kind of sucks, but that is out system of law.

both are terror organisations that have nothing to do with peace and love, but just hatred.Lots of groups have free will like the ones above, if you look deep into it you will find NAMBLA,ELF, ALF and many other groups that are "protected" under our constituion.

I disagree, Al-Qaeda was a coin termed by OBL to label his particular group of extremists, same as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsar Brigade and so on. There are lots of people who "disagree" with the idea of Democracy but still are friends of America.....Mubarrak for one. Al Qaeda sympathizer is a pretty loose term in itself....On one hand you have the people who understand the reasons why the extremists do what they do and then on the other hand you have the people who would like to carry out their fight against America.

I lived in Alabama. When I first got there, I met a Klan family that lived in our apartments. Talk about some scary ass ignorant rednecks!
If you look at their picture gallery, I lived about 20 minutes from Clanton. I wouldn't want to live in Chilton County.

Well the law is the law, but this is a bit out there. I guess in retrospect you can jail someone for having kiddie porn on their computers even if they havent been convicted of a sexual assualt on kids.

I am split on this one......On one hand, they did break the "LAW", on the other hand the government really never proved they had terrorist intentions.

The odd thing is that 6 who happened to attend training camp all lived near by eachother and knew eachother. Seems fishy, but not solid proof.

they pleaded guilty thats enough for me

Oh fools. All 6 were coerced into going and most tried to escape the camps. The one who recruited these 6 is somewhere abroad and is reported to be a Moussad Agent. Ypu got proof?

This reads like a patsy job in which the Bush Government looks good in catching terrorists at home.Quite possibly true.
Even the top fbi agent was fired.

Research feebles! Time is wasting.Im not going anywere anytime soon. Are you?

I had to do a 10 minute debate speech in my Politics class that they along with other groups should be banned, contrary to my beliefs on freedom of speech. I got an "A" but I also got grilled by my classmates on why we should throw away the constitution away for these guys.

Frontline (of course) did a show on the Lackawanna Six. They were all recruited by the guy we killed on that road in, I think, Lebanon. When they got to Afghanistan they only stayed 10 days. Once they were there they supposedly changed their minds and made up excuses as to why they had to leave. Before they left they were taken to see Bin Laden after he questioned them he allowed them to go.

I couldn't tell if they were lying and really were a sleeper cell, so it's good they're locked up even though they're cooperating with the government. We can't tolerate citizens joining the Jihad and meeting with Bin Laden.

It seems they were suduced into it and once they got there reality hit them in their collective fat american spoiled asses and they wanted civilization back.

Well, that whole KKK comment I made sparked it up.

The whole point being that terrorists use every dirty trick in the book for their war. To beat them, you need to do the same. Now everyone is crying foul for the new recruits.

Just like at one time, a sniper was considered "not fair" since they remained hidden and could kill with one shot. Now? Every military and police force in the world uses snipers as a part of regular tactics.

Should we say, its not fair to shoot an enemy with a gun from a mile away because you don't know they were really going to shoot you?

If 9/11 had happened in any other country, they would be calling America for help. If that was one of your relatives dead, you would be all for charging these recruits?

This, reminds me of the Nazi SS officers using the "I was ordered to..." defense.
I went to their camp, trained, spoke to Bin Laden...but really, I thought it was a Club Med.
LOL!

That still doesn't make it ok to imprison someone with no evidence. That's never ok. I'd rather see another set of buildings burned down than to see that become our new justice policy. Remember, the same rules go for you too. It's not going to be only terrorist suspects that are jailed without evidence. Once they're allowed to do this openly, it'll become common procedure. Don't give up your freedom for a false sense of security.

"they pleaded guilty thats enough for me "

Yes, they pled guilty and accepted 10 YEAR SENTENCES.

I am 100% sure the government would have threatened them with the death penalty or at LEAST life in prison.

If you could be shipped of to Gitmo or tried in secret and you were offered the chance to only spend 10 years in jail instead of the rest of your life, what would you do?

Even if they were innocent, it's them against the entire legal power of the US government (which has been changing laws as it suits them since 9-11).

I hope that all of you who say that they have no problem with this are never "suspected" of terrorism and have to make this decision for yourself.

Free democratic countries don't send people to prison for thinking bad things.
