Noooo, you don't have to plead the fifth amendment. It's a board, not a court.

You know, if you want to help a soldier, there are 2 ways to do it.

1) Supporting him/her while (s)he's still on the battlefield.
2) Doing your maximum to bring him/her safe at home.

I've wrote " her ". I hate to do this. Women don't have to be in danger, especially on the battlefield. Call me a machoman if you want, but wich society can send to death her women ? WICH ONE ? I already don't like when the men have to fight, so the women.....

And don't feel guilty if you are not a soldier in operation but be happy to be safe at home. War suck man, even if sometimes a war is necessary. Of course, war will stay " necessary " until all the peoples, from everywhere in the world, will not say " do it yourself " to their own leaders, when their leaders ask them to go fighting somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, please. I'm still thinking that Saddam had to be kick out. Irak will be more happy without him.

P.S : Did you speak with someone who is on duty in Irak ?

I find it irritating as hell.

"Supporting" soldiers entails what, exactly? The most common form of "support" I've seen, are people just saying they support the military. Wow! Keep up the good work!

Ok, I've been surfing this thread, but here is where I have to add my two cents. I'm a veteran of the Gulf war so I have seen iraq from a chopper and on the ground with a weapon in my hand.. The above quote is incorrect. Times have changed friends. Women ARE in combat. I realized how things had completely changed back then. SCUD missiles were being fired at us and trust me, men, they kill men and women alike. Also, there were females who were shot down, killed and/or taken prisoner.
There ain't no front and rear anymore. The nature of warfare has completely changed with the advent of Air Assault combat. Then there's insurgency warfare, like we're seeing now. The enemy is everywhere. You cannot confine him to an area.
Take the idiotic invasion strategery employed by Rumsfeld's chickenhawk brigade.. The war did NOT go nearly as well as the lame-azz media would have you believe. The TipFid was thrown out the window and the invasion force was fukken utterly below strength. Basically you had a long convoy from Kuwait to Baghdad, stretched to the max and without protection. WRONG WRONG WRONG. Had real military planners been in charge, as they were during the Gulf war, Jessica Lynch would NOT have been anywhere near being in a firefight. All non-combat related soldiers are supposed to be ringed by infantry. Ours in Iraq had NO protection. NONE. But, as you saw, it made combat troops out of everyone.
The thing is, the media intentionally does NOT discuss the fact that our girls are over there getting shot at, too. That would be a PR disaster for this administration. DAMN THEM! The chickenhawks should be hung by their... never mind. I won't say it. You get my drift.
As far as the original post in this thread is concerned, I say U.S. Patriot - thanks for thinkin of the soldiers. It's appreciated. Rest assured, they are doing what they're told to do to the best of their abilities under the most trying conditions imaginable. Not one of them, I am sure, wants to be there a day longer than he must. Awesome picture, too.

This Thanksgiving, let us give thanks the men and women sacrificing for us. No matter the cause, they are still humans, and thanks they deserve.

"May the road rise up before you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and may the rains fall softly upon your fields. And, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."

^^ To all those soldiers out there ^^

Looks to me like they're firing tank rounds into a city at night.

Pardon me if I don't particularly feel pride for the murder of civilians. It's, you know, a little pet peeve of mine.

Oh but I'm sure the entire city is full of evil, US-hating Arabs.

Or if it ain't, then it will be as soon as those tank shells land and blow apart some of their families.

They don't fire unless they are threatened. Are you saying that our soldiers are murdering civillians? The whole reason so many of our soldiers are dying is because we don't want to kill indiscriminatly. It obviously does have evil American hating arabs, those would be the ones killing our soldiers. In case you didn't notice, they are killing their own people now. Isn't that one of you're pet peeves?

I agree 110%. In matter of fact, if our morals werent as high as they currently are we would be thrashing homes left and right, killing anyone who looked at us wrong and not losing as many AMERICAN lifes. The fact that we take the moral high ground is a act of principal that I personally question. I admit killing civilians WILL happen on accident, I don't think any American or coalition troops are shooting down civilians for 10 pts a pc. This isnt a game, people need to realize its very dangerous over there. The fact we have shown so much restraint is amazing IMHO.

Yes. To all the coalition troops, Aussie, Brits, Pols, wherever you're from - I salute you for the job you do and for your country's unwavering support.

Interesting.........

Our "restraint" has more than 30% of the Iraqi dead as non combatant civilians. We are killing indiscrimantly. Take Cluster Bombing for example:
cluster bombing in an Urban theater.....What exactly is the benefit, other than wholesale indiscriminate death, to have a guided cluster munition if it drops bombs in a spread of up to 18 acres?
Think about that:

- up to 18 football fields in area

- that 'personal bombs' are dropped into

- in an urban theater

How many reports have you seen ( just serach ATS ) of whole car loads of families gunned down at checkpoint miscommunications?

I don't blame our troops, because I have family deployed and wore the uniform some years back......but we can & must do better.

Our troops are in the most hostile, untenable situation imaginable. Of course they've been killing indiscriminantly. Who wouldn't? They're scared straight. No one can speak to what he or she would do - unless they have been there themselves. It's not their fault.

It's also a tradgedy that so many innocent Iraqis have been hurt and have died.

The leaders - Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, Bolton.. the whole fukken lot of 'em should be fired and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for opening this pandora's box.
