i just noticed that rodrigo santoro (who plays paulo on 'lost') played the role of king xerxes in the movie '300'...

I just saw the movie yesterday and there is no way I would have guessed it was him. I thought the man playing Xerxes was a skinny basketball player in real life. >_<

About Jack's tattoo, I think the producers wanted it to imply that he is with the others but not really one of them. I can't imagine how many viewers ABC would tick off if they made Jack a permanent "other."

There seems to be questions that the producers have completely forgot about answering, like what happened to Jack's father's body, why did the Others need a van on an island with no roads, and why do the Others never mention the monster?

I have a theory, and I think it's way out there, but it starts to sound like it would be true with every new episode we're watching.

The last few episodes has mentioned "hostiles" and DHARMA employees living on the island, and that the hostiles were there first. I believe the two skeletons found in the cave were Ben's parents, since he was born on the Island. This would make him a "hostile." He and his "hostile" group kidnapped the DHARMA employees and brainwashed them to work for them. The ones that were kidnapped are either the current "others" or offsprings of former DHARMA employees.

Some of the "Others" have mentioned many times that they are the "good guys." If that's meant to imply that there are "bad guys" on the island too, then maybe there are still surviving DHARMA employees on the island, and they are really the good guys, while Ben and his crew are the bad ones.

i am still fascinated by the whispers that are sometimes heard by the losties...

for some quick transcripts of the whispers, check out the whispers (lostpedia)...

in the episode 'abandoned' (the episode where shannon dies in season two), a whisper says "hi sis"

maybe it is boone???

although the whispers seems like they may be the voices of the deceased, they also appear that they may be alive and well:

"maybe we should just talk to him" (from 'outlaws')...
"no if he see us it will ruin everything" (from 'outlaws')...
"they could help us" (from 'outlaws')...
"i don't know if i can run, but i can (or can't) yell" (from 'abandoned')...

this is from 'outlaws,' while sawyer was on the beach:

"oh my god there's a guy out there"
"dennis find out what's going on"
"did he see us?"
"maybe"
"open it"

...

"go and get him"

...

"i want to get closer"
"i know what you said, but he's looking around"
"what if he shoots us or something"

from: lostpedia.com... (note: all of the previous quotes are from this link)...

so...

what are your views about these whispers???

I know what you mean about the Whispers.

I sometimes just read transcripts of them because they sound so interesting. The way they speak make it sound as though they aren't Others. Maybe they are what's left of DHARMA.

I can't even begin to guess what they are so I ain't gonna try

you just did guess what they could be

anyway, maybe they are actually the consciousness of what's left over after one dies...

this would make sense if it was boone that was whispering...

then again, why would the whispers care about being seen if this was the case (actually, how could one see consciousness???)...

its interesting to note that, in one case, the whispers actually cared about fake henry gale (in season two)...

when sayid was torturing him, the whispers said things along the lines of "don't give up" and "we should help him"...

Ah yes !!! I love this thread, LOST is the bomb.

Hurley is one of my favorites, he cracks me up and gives the show some fun. Can't wait for the next episode.
"They see all " Thank you for this post I'm loving it. Still got to go back and read a few more pages in this thread but will definetly will be back.

The transcripts are quite important, in my opinion, in determining that there are other groups on the island. I believe I read that DHARMA had a station on the island that studied telepathy and if this station housed DHARMA employees who also had telepathic powers, then it could very likely be that they have been the ones who send whispers to the Losties, or produce images, such as walt showing up soaking wet, when Shannon went into the jungle to look for Walt's dog.

I also have a theory that the DHARMA program was set up to study the "hostiles," who were living on the islands. But the hostiles over powered the DHARMA employees and now live on the island as the "others."

hurley is great comic relief (although he does have a very important role to the show, as he was the first to discover the numbers and their power)...

keep on enjoying this thread

if you really enjoyed it, flag it

nice work here...

although, i think walt appeared to shannon on his own accord...

i like this theory...

but, i think, these hostiles might not simply be people who lived on a remote island all of their lives (with no technology or anything)...

remember, dharma has put all of these stations of the island (not the hostiles)...

the hostiles (ben's group) took over dharma...

dharma tried to purge them, and they failed...

so the hostiles run the island now...

for me, the word "hostile" and the fact that they lived on a remote island brings about the thought that the hostiles were people without technology and the like...

i don't think this is the case...

ben claimed he has been on the island all of his life and, yet, he has connections with the outside world and all of that...

see where i am going (it sounds confusing)???

let's all remember this:

alvar hanso (the man who funded dharma) had different viewpoints from dharma itself...

alvar has military in his background:

Alvar Hanso is the Danish CEO and Founder of the Hanso Foundation and the Hanso Group. The grandson of Magnus Hanso, little is known about his early life, but it is understood that he was initially involved in the military, developing munitions during the Second World War. However, years later, Alvar would establish the Hanso Foundation, in contrast aiming to "reach out for a better tomorrow" and preserve life on Earth.

from: lostpedia.com......

dharma is:

The DHARMA Initiative (Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications Initiative)[...]

...

The initiative was allegedly founded in 1970 by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. It was or is financially backed by the mysterious Danish industrialist and munitions magnate, Alvar Hanso and his Hanso Foundation. The alleged purpose of the Initiative was to create "a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social-"

Note: the last research subject of the initiative was not fully made clear in the Swan Orientation film and is unknown (some have suggested Utopian Social Engineering or Utopian Socialism).

from: lostpedia.com......

dharma seems pretty nice, huh???

why do i think that hanso and dharma differed in viewpoints???

well, let's assume that hanso secretly has a plan to take over the world...

it would probably be very hard to accomplish this without being a general or a leader of nation, right???

so, alvar funds dharma (a group with honest studies for the betterment of humanity)...

little does dharma know that alvar hanso will soon use their research for his own evil gains...

with me so far???

somehow, dharma finds out about hanso's evil plans...

dharma disrupts their own studies (because they don't want the research to go to hanso) and causes what's been known as an "incident"...

dharma members rage war against members of hanso that were on the island (there must have been some hanso people their just to make sure that everything was okay and etc)...

but, dharma failed...

the members of hanso win the war...

hanso's group take over the island (well, technically, they always had control of it)...

hanso's people actually pretend to be dharma people and resume studies...

in conclusion, the "incident" was a war of sorts between dharma and hanso; in this war, dharma looses and hanso resumes studies to take over the world and force world peace...

note: i cannot account for, among other things, how ben was on the island all his life and who exactly are the "hostiles" (whether it was dharma or hanso)...

i theorized this a long time ago in the first major 'lost' thread in BTS (linked in one of the first few posts in this thread)...

what do you all say about this???

on another note:

last night, i had a 'lost' nightmare

i dreamed that i, along with alex, kate and sayid were captured by the others...

the others took us to a high mountain and told us to tell them where everyone else was (and if we didn't, they would throw us off the mountain into water)...

i could actually feel as if i was extremely high up in the air...

alex was being a smart-ass and said that she wouldn't tell them anything until she was in a closed and safe room with walls and all...

the others then threw her off and she fell and died

i don't remember anything else about it though :shk:

and, no, i am not making this up...

Nice theory TSA. I can't say I understood it all, but I'm gonna keep at it until I do.

And I had a LOST dream too! Except in it I was an Other, I knew exactly what they were doing and why they did it.... and when I woke up I couldn't remember anything apart from being an Other and seeing Kate at least once.

Angry isn't the word for how I felt!

And I was just wondering (for those few of you who peruse this thread), if oyu had the chance.... would you join the Others?

if i only knew what the losties knew, i wouldn't join the others...

sure, as it may turn out, the others may be the good guys, but i might not be able to forgive all of the evil things that they have done...

Anyone want to take bets on what Locke is going to blow up tonight?

The way he changed gets to me. When you see him before the island he was a putz who payed women on the phone to talk to him, got suckered every time he turned around and couldn't kill anyone, not even the undercover agent at the pot growing place.

Now he'll just grab the eye patch guy and toss him thru an invisible fence, just to watch him die.

For Locke, this has turned into fantasy island.

I don't think he did it to watch Mikhail die. No one knew what would happen if you crossed the perimeter, so better one of Them than one of you, right?

I am so psyched. I wonder if they are going to show us how he got paralyzed. It looks like they will from the coming attractions. I am willing to bet he wants to find out how the island cured him. Hmm...

T-Minus 2 minutes and counting!

Yep, this is going to be more complicated than we thought.

Betting is now closed, he blew up the sub.

I wish I had a magical wish box. Although now that I am thinking about it, I think the hostiles are testing John, by presenting his father gagged and bound. Maybe it is a test to see if they will allow him to stay in the compound?

the submarine (i knew this from the previews)...

the people who are responsible for making the previews should really watch what they put in it...

geez...

well, i also read spoilers (way back even before this season started) that he would blow it up...

i still can't believe that he did it...

they better not make locke a self-centered character...

locke's story gets me sad...

he was weak and trusted people way too often...

also, i don't think he just wanted to talk to the phone sex girl just for the hell of it...

this is just how they show how locke is a character that trusts people and it shows that he doesn't judge people for what they do (like the phone sex lady and the pot growers)...

if people are nice to him, he will be nice...

yeah...

he didn't know what would happen...

although it is suspicious that he threw him into it after he was going to mention that locke was paralyzed pre-island...

is that motive or what???

yes it is...

so, let me get this straight, ben wanted locke to blow the submarine up even though it will make the others think that there is now no way off the island???

ben said some of the others need the illusion of leaving the island...

so there isn't a way off the island even with the submarine (maybe because of the anomaly)???

it seems to me that locke destroying the submarine will, in fact, make the others think that there isn't a way off the island...

so ben didn't stop that thought from entering their heads...

i guess ben got what he wanted after all because now all of the others are stuck on the island and he wasn't responsible for it (in their eyes)...

ben is smart...

but how will the others react to this scenario???

how will jack react???

interesting stuff...

that box analogy was weird...

so they can get locke's dad on the island, but not a new submarine???

the way ben said it, it seemed as if this box was all powerful and etc...

yes, this could be a test...

but locke is important to ben now...

ben may have given cooper to locke just so he could finally get his revenge / and so locke will finally not be afraid...

i wonder how long the others had cooper...

and, for the record, i knew the others would have cooper...

i deciphered that while i was watching the episode...

guess what???

i just noticed that we are right back where this season started:

the others with captives

the others have sayid, kate, jack, and locke...

ben said he would release jack's friends after he left the island...

well, we can see that's not happening anytime soon...
