I just saw the movie yesterday and there is no way I would have guessed it was him. I thought the man playing Xerxes was a skinny basketball player in real life. >_

The transcripts are quite important, in my opinion, in determining that there are other groups on the island. I believe I read that DHARMA had a station on the island that studied telepathy and if this station housed DHARMA employees who also had telepathic powers, then it could very likely be that they have been the ones who send whispers to the Losties, or produce images, such as walt showing up soaking wet, when Shannon went into the jungle to look for Walt's dog.
I also have a theory that the DHARMA program was set up to study the "hostiles," who were living on the islands. But the hostiles over powered the DHARMA employees and now live on the island as the "others."
Alvar Hanso is the Danish CEO and Founder of the Hanso Foundation and the Hanso Group. The grandson of Magnus Hanso, little is known about his early life, but it is understood that he was initially involved in the military, developing munitions during the Second World War. However, years later, Alvar would establish the Hanso Foundation, in contrast aiming to "reach out for a better tomorrow" and preserve life on Earth.
The DHARMA Initiative (Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications Initiative)[...]
...
The initiative was allegedly founded in 1970 by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. It was or is financially backed by the mysterious Danish industrialist and munitions magnate, Alvar Hanso and his Hanso Foundation. The alleged purpose of the Initiative was to create "a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social-"
Note: the last research subject of the initiative was not fully made clear in the Swan Orientation film and is unknown (some have suggested Utopian Social Engineering or Utopian Socialism).

And I had a LOST dream too!
And I was just wondering (for those few of you who peruse this thread), if oyu had the chance.... would you join the Others?

The way he changed gets to me. When you see him before the island he was a putz who payed women on the phone to talk to him, got suckered every time he turned around and couldn't kill anyone, not even the undercover agent at the pot growing place.
Now he'll just grab the eye patch guy and toss him thru an invisible fence, just to watch him die.
For Locke, this has turned into fantasy island.

I don't think he did it to watch Mikhail die. No one knew what would happen if you crossed the perimeter, so better one of Them than one of you, right?

Yep, this is going to be more complicated than we thought.

I wish I had a magical wish box. Although now that I am thinking about it, I think the hostiles are testing John, by presenting his father gagged and bound. Maybe it is a test to see if they will allow him to stay in the compound?
