It's time you go to the darkside.....

BTS has sports as well as many more interesting topics. But beware, some who have crossed over have never been the same again...

On the Recent Posts page it would be very nice if the original posting page would show the original date of the original Post. Also, if there could be something that tells us we've already read that post like a small icon maybe?

I wonder if it's possible to someday "tag" one's thread such that it is hosted in a forum, but noted or cross-referenced to other forums that the thread may also apply to. For instance:

I write a thread that could be posted in General Consp., Social Issues, Education/Media, and Paranormal.

If tags were in place, I could post in General Consp. and it could only be replied to in one place, but I have it "listed" or "noted" in the other forums...

Thoughts?

I think that's a great idea.

That's never specifically crossed my mind, but that's a great idea. I say it's never crossed my mind, in that I know it to be, essentially, a non-feature, so I wouldn't have dwelled* on it. But were it possible, there's many posts that should be seen/enjoyed by viewers of more than one forum and the ability should be there to allow that.

Perhaps it could be a feature to be moderated so that people don't go overboard? Dunno.

*why does it say "dwelled" is spelled wrong?

i had mentioned this to a mod via u2u, briefly.

i notice we have an adopt a newbie program on ATS, and that sponsoring the new additions can probably be a fun thing.

prior to the last ATS LIVE radio show (#19) i was giving some thought as to the quality of the ATS experience for the mods, as compared to when they were members. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that their responsibilities and obligations may alter their enjoyment of ATS.

after listening to the last ATS, and viewing the titles of some of the threads that popped up over the last few days...

i was wondering about maybe ... this may sound wierd...

Adopt a Mod program?

something akin to:
"adopt a new member"
www.abovetopsecret.com...

but, what would mods enjoy from members?
something to make ATS a little more fun for the mods?

designing funny avatars for your mod?
lurking, stalking, & posting in their threads?

i'm giving it some thought. something fun for the members and their favorite or unfavorite mods. like a contest, maybe.

analogy:
designing funny avatars for their mod, like a dunk tank with a boss in it..

Interesting thought ET. I figure with all these "hate threads" and Skeptic even posting a thread about the subject I think we could really use something to lighten the mood a bit. I'm all for a great "work" atmosphere what do you think?

(PS I know its not work just didn't know what to put in place there to get my point across)

if you look at some of these "hate" threads that have been brought to the forefront and the "hate" titles that have popped up in the last few days especially...

i have interjected some measure of humor where i could to lighten the mood, but after listening to the mods discussion on ATS LIVE with Neformore, Semperfortis, and the others on the team, ya.. some lightening of the mood can be benificial, me thinks.

ATS can be fun, even when debating.

we need more solutions, and less finger pointing though, imo.

perhaps someone should author a thread for appropriate rebuttals for hateful posts?

example:

appropriate response:

the first 14
's didn't bother me. i think the 15 lol is the one that hurt my feelings.

i just think ATS should be more enjoyable, even for those evil moderators!

Would it be possible to get an 'Edit' button added to our posts on the mobile version of the site? My phone's auto-correct often puts the wrong word or leaves out a letter and I don't catch it til after I've posted. Not the most important issue, certainly, but it does irritate me to find I've misspelled something when I can't fix it because I'm on my phone or because the time has lapsed to edit my post before I can get to my computer.

Back in 2005 and 2006 when i first joined we used to have a function on the toolbar at the top of the page to switch between ATS and BTS to view most recent threads. I found myself utilizing that function frequently, as there are topics and forums I enjoy and participate in on both boards.

Perhaps this suggestion is too late to be applied to the adaptation of the new ATS version, but i would like you to keep this in mind as a possibility in the future. i did use that function alot.

Thank you for all you guys do, and all you offer,
john paul

I think I can remember them saying they're adding something like that to the new ATS 2010 page. Specifically on the recent posts page to make it easier to switch between ATS and BTS.

I think all the forums will be on one single page as well so you don't have to click BTS at the top of the page to find the BTS forums and the same for ATS but I'm not 100% sure. :/

Hoax tag expansion...

Well as most people are aware (or should be aware
) ATS has a Hoax forum, as shown here, and certain threads in that forum are assigned a special tag in the title which reads - [HOAX] - which is here, I can only assume, to make it clear to members prior to reading that this is a hoaxed attempt and not to be accepted as anything other than. But I was thinking after coming across this post here about the possibility of perhaps expanding the tags ever so slightly.

What I mean is maybe adding something similar to the Hoax tag such as a - [DEBUNKED] - Tag for example? Something which would make it perfectly clear to members prior to reading, much like the hoax tag, that this has been debunked and or explained already.

Personally I think it could become quite useful, certainly in the UFO and Paranormal forums for example especially since ATS has a huge amount of skilled debunkers present and of course because we see certain threads each and every day that can be explained away quite easily, birds or flies mistaken for UFO’s for example.

Anyway It's just an idea that I think can be quite useful and something I thought I'd share.

I would like to see in ATS is the following.

Metaphysics and/or Paranormal topics have their very own forum. The idea that they are only topics, seems a bit of an odd thought, hence that there are so many topics these categories, many of which is either about the Astral World, Lucid Dreams, Ghosts, Angels, even the positive posts in the Metaphysics topic, including things on philosophy and spirituality. Maybe the Faith and Religion topic in BTS would be able to move into the forum. A forum dedicated to these two subjects, may make things easier for people who make a thread, and hopefully, it can become a "sanctuary" for positive thinking.

Another suggestion is to Re-vamp the forums. when I see the board, it feels a bit messy. I see so many folders one ontop of another in rows and columns in a square list, and it can give people a headache sometimes.

I am thinking of making the forums sort of have their own folder. So It will be easier to find the topic. It can still have the pictures for looks

Ex: Click board, and you see folders. One folder is titled "Conspiracy Theory Discussion Forums". This folder shall have the topics that are there today (Aliens and UFOs, New World Order etc.) The list could be going down, or in the same square list. Then there is the Science topic, Mysterious subjects, General and Shared topic Discussion Forums etc. This will simplify how the board is explored, and can save alot of space. Maybe next to each Forum, there is a top 5 threads for that forum, which will also tell the topic it is posting for.

Last one is based on a thread posting rule on a particular topic. The topic is Drugs. Of course there should not be any threads endorsing, or supporting illegal drug use, and drug crimes and such, but there are some conspiracies that are based on drugs. One well known drug conspiracy is the Marijuana Conspiracy.

This is of course known as a Sched. 1 drug, but a lot of people know today that it is not as bad as it seems. In fact there could be true reasons why it is illegal, and it isn't to care about the people. It is not really a Legalize or not thing, or it can be. All I am saying is that there is some conspiracy on the plant, and people want to know what it is.

As the motto of ATS states "Deny Ignorance", we should not ignore such widely debatable, and researched topics, and not research about them at all, even if it is about a drug, or a plant, or anything for that matter. Heck, there is a conspiracy about the food we eat.

To add to that subject, I believe a topic could be opened on Food, Drugs, and Plants, where we can discuss about such things. There could be informative documents, and facts on food, or drug etc. And of course there should be a sticky reminding people that it is based on the conspiracy of the topic, and not on topics such as how to use said drug, or where to get, or any illegal activity supporting. This can include the person's experience on using a drug.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if this ability exists, but if it does, I cannot find it. But here's my suggestion anyway:

I would like the ability to hide or remove threads from my thread list on my member profile. I'm not just talking about the "My Three Most Recent Threads", I'm talking about the entire list of threads. In case people don't know what I mean by hide or remove, this would be akin to hiding or removing posts on your wall on Facebook.

My reasoning for this is because I have 28 threads which I find pointless and stupid and would like to be removed from public view.

Having this feature doesn't necessarily have to hide or remove the thread entirely. I'd just like to be able to hide or remove it from my profile.

Make every post count! I don't agree with you. Only because I like to spot whom I believe are the disinfo agents on this site. I like to see just where some people like to spend there time.

I'm not talking about posts, I'm just talking about threads. If someone were a disinfo agent they wouldn't want their posts hidden anyway.

well I read too much in your post. you are right, but in my opinion, disinfo agents don't post threads, they post on threads, and several posts they do make. I have found lots of examples of posters who seem to carry on more than a passing interest on certain topics. I have no qualms about your thread deletion suggestion
