ATS, BTS, What would you like to see in the future?

A few days ago I visited my favorite Indian grocery store and noticed a hand-made sign posted by the plastic 1-pound bags of moong dal (a dried product similar to split peas). It apologized for the almost doubled price of moong dal (one of the store's most popular items). The reason for the recent and dramatic price rise was stated as "temporary problems in availability of this product."

So it occurred to me that ATS might want to expand the section on global climate change to include tracking of food shortages, especially staple foods such as the above. It appears that we are in for a lot more of these food shortages, and other ATS members could then advise on alternative purchasing strategies. If the postings become too voluminous, those threads could be moved to the BTS food section.

Actually I would love to see;

1] ATS/BTS User login switching not to require a relogin.
2] Color schemes and themes for both avatar and the boards.
3] ATS Messenger-chat program.
4] PTS PROVEN Top Secret! A section somewhere that lists all of the proven topics. (If there is or could be such a thing!)

These are some thoughts I had regarding the ATS Chat...
To spice it up a little bit..

First of all, ...

The window itself.. should be more like a stand-alone program window, re-sizable, option bar, etc.

Next...

The names... Where it shows who is in the chat-room...
This should be a much more important part of the chat.
the individuals avatar, or personal picture displayed beside their name
which directs to their blog, or a page of their choice.

Eventually, the ability to have audio rooms and video rooms for seminars or conferences/debates.

I just look at the chat, and see it as an infant that has a lot of developing to do.

Just some ideas to throw in the pile..

i have been referred several times to it for making suggestions in other posts but while it seems that a lot of members post here with ideas and suggestions, very little is ever done about any of them.

there are the occasional replies that point out already existing features but there are a lot of unanswered things in here that really should have some consideration.

when i pointed the lack of interest in this thread to a mod recently i was advised by said mod to bring it up in the complaints/suggestions area, which i did but have yet to have any response from there either.

perhaps a weekly/monthly review and report on the suggestions made this thread should be done so all those good ideas don't go to waste. then clean out all the old posts so it doesn't run into too many pages and put people off reading it

Yes, we do still look at this thread, and that is why we try to drive any board suggestions to this individual topic. I hope people can understand that while we do read everyone's suggestions, it is simply not possible to implement some/all/any of them. Additionally, it is impractical to keep coming back and saying, "Thanks for the suggestion" or "We'll have a think about it and get to you".

When we implement new features, SkepticOverlord announces them in the Board Business forum.

Ontopic:What I mean is should we connect all the conspiracies & see what is happening around us in MANY perspectives,like are we becoming fat so we can't resist Physically,& is the media brainwashing people or using some advanced technology to control our brainwaves so we won't resist Mentally as well,& are governments taking as much money from us as possible to set restrictions on us financially,& how much disinfo are we being feed so we can be so confused & won't have the reason to start a protest or better yet a REVOLUTION against the REAL enemies!

How about some sort of "credibility rating"? Some kind of scoring system everyone in the forum can rate eachothers posts? That would be very interesting to see what y'all might come up with- it's wide open...

IMHO that is a recepie for organised DRAMA , cliques and cults of personality

a formal " credibility rating " would be far worse than the ad hoc mess we have now

so my vote is NO !

Who knows what all that would stir up? I think it would be fascinating, if not accurate.

Dr Strangecraft posted about an ID related forum where anyone affected by ID theft and the life-havoc it causes could come and find resources....I'll second that idea, and would be glad to help out any other UK members (having been through the process myself)

The 3 Amigos & WOS have the title "Conspiracy Master"under their usernames,so it might be interesting to see if they have their own forum on the Conspiracy Master section as well (along with John Lear,Soficrow,Justin Oldham,etc)

Also a member named LazarusTheLong is also a Conspiracy Master,I haven't seen his own "Conspiracy Master" forum yet.

On the search members function, it would be good if the anonymous posters weren't listed as it seems really pointless to me.

What about an Investments & Stock Market board on BTS?

People can come together and share RRSP info, tax planning, stock tips, etc. Seems more deserving to me than a joke board or automotive board.

You would want a disclaimer for it though.

is there any way that the anonymous posts can be incorporated into the search engine? or even just have them separated into the forum catagories? it would make it a hell of a lot easier to search for a particular post in there if you need to.

I'd like to see a famous guest every week, bi-weekly or month. They can give us their opinions and thoughts and we can ask them questions. I would love to see some smiley & emotion Aliens. If anyone knows how to build a lifter then lets have a contest for best lifter video based on originality and style etc... Aliens only forum
How about speech reconition with voice talk in a forum so we can hear if we are as ignorant as we type lol. I'd really like to see Skeptic Overlord come out with a lightning bolt and zap anyone who trashes someone in a thread. Some points disappear when it happens to. Well that's all I have for now, gotta watch LOST.

I daresay a lot of people now have a play/pause button on their computer keyboards, and it doesn't make the podcast player play/pause. So if it is possible, could it be done?

hi - i would like to see a photography sub forum in BTS arts and entertainment

books are subbed up into " comics " , " sci fi " and " literature "

visual media gets " tv " and " movies "

threads addressing photography are fragmented - in members art , general chat , comuters [ for PS and othe stuff ] etc

a front page link to all things photographic would be appreciated

maybe a post rating system similar to the one on facepunch

it is pretty abused over there but i think with the more civilized population over here i think it would work quite well.

if you have no idea what i mean or are too lazy to look, there is a series of ratings you can give to an individual post. such things like "Funny" "Informative" "Gold Star" ect.

of cause we would change it to better suit ATS
