One of the biggest annoyances of turning adblock browsers plugins off when visiting this and other sites asking or requiring users to do so -- besides the annoying audio/video adds that interfere with whatever else one may be listening to at the time the ad tuns -- is the fact that it slows down the browser considerably, sometimes taking a minute or more to refresh a page after posting a comment in a thread, and even hanging other open tabs during the same time. It's one thing to insist on people looking at ads, it's another to then interfere with the performance of a person's browser and computer by forcing upon them CPU-intensive video ads, and scripts that require communication with third-party sites, which then take time for the off-site connections. Not good.

I'd be vey curious to know if moderators and higher-up ATS P'sTB also have adblock plugins off when they are viewing ATS, so they understand how it is for everybody following ATS's T&C's.

Every now and then an ad(not always the same one) shows up in the right side, just under the menu bar and I don't really pay attention to them but when I try to get to my scrollbar, the ads seem to be wired for . and as soon as I roll my mouse over it the ad expands and does not have an easy to find close link.
This type of ad really ruins my viewing experience by forcing me to move my mouse across the bottom portion of the screen and then up the right hand side over the browser window vertical scrollbar to click the slider.

It doesn't stop me from using the site but a lot of times I will go refresh the browser or go view another topic and hope to get a normal ad next time.

I don't like them. Has anyone else had this unpleasant experience?

I hate that when that happens.

Also don't like when I'm scrolling down the ATS homepage and a new ad pops up in a couple of windows, thereby causing the whole page to refresh, and thereby interrupting my prior scrolling down and checking things out.

But I have to give ATS props for not hosting ads by a certain purveyor of Mac slimeware that purports to be both anti-virus and optimization software, and which seems to be nigh ubiquitous on many sites, often with pop-up ads and misleading links about other things entirely, but which download a copy of their "product". Thanks for keeping it classy and honorable in this respect, ATS.

Woohoo, you won! I've won several iPhones, but never got one. I wonder why....

Another thing though.. Usually I'm using a iPad for browsing, and recently a add has been coming up on the bottom of the screen. You know, where the bar with links to messages etc appear. But that stupid add is OVER the bar, so that I cannot use it at all. Noting on the main page, but it comes up when browsing a forum (doesn't matter which one). I'm from the Netherlands, and it is a Dutch add. Never knew adds were country-specific..

edit: Hmm, on my PC it doesnt show up. So.... is it iPad only ? Also, I hav to get rid of some cookies, as it is showing ads on the front page from a shop where I purchased a TV recently. And they said they didnt place any cookies on my puter... right

Just started getting a big centered popup from ad.yieldmanager.com about installing "Candy Crush Saga" that shows up at random. No, I don't want your game thankyouverymuch.

There's a drop down ad compay that are using the top left hand corner of ats. Trouble is, the drop down covers a few of the ats topics. Begs the question, "what do we want to read? the ad or the ats topic?/??

Well, if it's the ats topic, then we can't see em, so why bother coming to the site?
If it's the ad, why are we on the ats site instead of some ad site.

so ats, what's more important to you, the ad or the ats topic list?

Just questions, no answers, far be it from me to tell you what you think is more important

Does anybody have numerous highlighted random words through threads that are hot links to ads offering an ipad prize or other prizes?
I am wondering if it has to do with ats or if I have some sort of virus that causes this

Those are only visible if you're not logged-in.

I beg to differ. I am presently logged in and they are still there

Then your computer is infected with something that is injecting the links.

I looked up a couple of websites that seemed to appear if you clicked on the links (sherlock holmes type stuff
) and then searched for ways to fix what is apparently ad ware and my virus protection doesn't pick em up. I looked at some answers on how to remove them and used a free software package to remove them. Hopefully, the prob is solved.

I don't mind so much the ads all over the website but all these popup ads are extremely annoying. It seems like every time I come here lately, my screen is bombarded with pop up ads that take over most of the screen.
Today, while I'm logged in, I hit the 'recent posts' tab and all of a sudden all these protein bars fall down on the screen then a video that starts playing.

I don't see an X to get out of it, so I try clicking on a link to a post in the background. As soon as I do that, I get this popup with yet another video that starts playing.

If I'm getting all this crap while I'm logged in, I can't imagine what it's like for someone who's not logged in. Is posting to this site the only advantage of being a logged in member??
I might have to take a break from here for awhile because really, it's more annoying than anything else and I'm not sure the content is worth it.

The first one is indeed annoying. The second however.. It seems that the link you pressed was to a ATS video recap. And yes, that pops up. No spam though

I've got a new annoying thing as well.. And it shows how the ads are not targeted right.
It's a add for the new Mercedes S class, and well, since I've been unemployed for over a year now I'm not really someone who would buy that car. It shows up at the bottom of the screen, covering up the ATS bar to your messages etc. I still use my ipad, not sure if that matters to how the ads are served up. This specific bar shows up mostly on the "recent posts" page, and it disappears when scrolling (or in my case keeping your finger on the screen somewhere.)

The WWE Summer Slam is quite intrusive. It's been running for a week or so now on the site, and it expands to obscure buttons and requires you to click "skip" and then the "x" to close it before you can get rid of it. It wouldn't be so bad except that you don't even have to mouse over it for it to happen.

Peace.
