Well normally I'm not one to complain, but seeing this ad got me a little mad, especially seeing it here on ATS.
>snip<
Can it be removed please.

Unfortunately, that's a lot harder than it would seem.

We have seven different suppliers of advertising, each with many ad campaigns. After a quick look this morning, combined there are over 1,800 different ad campaigns that could appear on ATS at any given time for any given user. And other than specifying ad behavior (no retargeting, no sound, no gambling, etc.) we have no influence over which campaigns will appear and when -- which is the nature of the game with ad networks.

However, each offers the ability to negate campaigns based on company and/or domain. For each of our networks, I've negated BP's company name and website domain. But if the campaign is being operated by their ad agency, there's no guarantee that the campaign name or target domain will match that criteria and be removed.

There are brilliant ad campaigns out there, Perhaps the admins could target ad campaigns that include such things as books and technology to help people be more self-sustaining (in case of a global meltdown/catastrophe)

Something along those lines would seem more "appropriate" for a site such as this.

The Verizon ad annoyed me beyond measure! It wouldn't stop popping up on the screen and every time I tried to click on a thread it beat me to it and got in the way. That one needs to go.

If you're using firefox, use "no script": A really nifty add-on that blocks Java, JavaScript, Flash - really good for blocking ads on sites like YouTube, and stopping malicious codes running through _javascript.

I don't get ANY popups or ads showing on ATS. (You can enable them at will too)

noscript.net...

Thank you. I knew you guys would understand.

Advertising agents can be sneaky. They mix words and confuse the public.

Example of an Aussie ad we have about milk...
A man walks into a shop he says to the shop assistant “I just want milk that tastes like real milk” shop assistant hands him a carton and says “this tastes like real milk. He buys the product and out he walks out.

Hello…tastes like? … I want real milk plain and simple. It’s telling the public it’s ok if it’s not real as long as it tastes real.

So I see how they can screw things up. An advertising company could make BP look good even if it was for a save the whales campaign.

Well anyway thanks again for taking the time to cross them off the list.

Love and harmony

I think I read somewhere this is where I go to "complain" about an ad? If not, sorry.

The ad for the movie Super is giving me a problem. I usually just get it on the home page. I'm nowhere near even hovering over it and it pops out and blocks the links up top.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Thanks (or sorry if in the wrong place) in advance ^_^.

That is nifty. However, are you aware that ads are ATS's major source of income? Are you aware that using ad blockers is against ATS's terms of service? I suspect mods are tired of reminding people of this.

You meant no harm by it, I'm sure, but could you add an exception for ATS to your noscript? (add to your whitelist) There are only a few ads for logged in members, but no pop-ups. Also, staff is not allowed to say it, but it's good to click on ads, especially if the product/service interests you. (click-throughs are how ATS gets income)

I must be getting old.

I don't even notice there are ads on this site.

Apparently I am mentally blocking them all out.

I do notice the annoying bug crawling around on my screen though

Can we do something about this monster z/
I don't block pop ups when I'm on ATS because you need the revenue but this ad is pushing me over the edge.

It blocks like 4/5ths of my entire screen.
Seriously? Huge ass pop ups?

Yeah, I came here to complain about the Super ads too. The movie looks good, but I'm not aware of hovering over it when it activates. It has got to go.

Advertisement On New Topic Page?
www.abovetopsecret.com...

^^^ the above thread was closed.

Since the only thing that thread accomplished was to get the ad to load faster, I am complaining again.
Its on the current topics page, the one that comes with the "show ribbon" button".

It covers a section of the "new hot active topics" and what was a white block before now is a white block of rotating ads, for various things. Only 4 headlines will show there now, the ad is in the way. I previously thought it was covering them, it actually just moves them off screen.

Ads shouldn't cover content. :shk:

The ad isn't covering any content.

Most people (over 80%) using that page were clicking on new topics or top-flagged topics, and a very small percentage clicked on the new-hot topics. So we expanded the list on new/flagged topics from 8 to ten, and reduced the hot (most-replied) list to six, and included an ad for two ads on the page.

It only expands if you roll your mouse over it... a common method.

However, I believe that campaign has completed by now.

Yeah, I would accidentally scroll over it and it would explode on my screen lol

I'm glad it is gone, as it is about the only add that has really caused me any trouble.
