Well I'm annoyed that HALF my screen is wasted showing me a new movie coming out and also the release of some old Star Trek stuff.

What an absolute waste!

If the space was better used for threads and ATS stuff the site would have more viewable content.

I know it's only a personal thing, but I don't have a TV and don't go to the movies....so to me they're pointless!

In a year or two, are members going to have to search real hard for the ATS stuff among the multitude of ads and their predominant place over the sites member content. Will it be a case of "boldly going" where every advert has been before?

Clearly you dont care about net neutrality nerbot, ATS has fought hard to make sure they have the right to bombard you senseless with ads, if it wasnt for filling half your screen up with ads ATS would not survive !!! Do you want to be the reason ATS dies ? I didnt think so.

I'm not one to necessarily complain about NOT seeing ads, but today all I am getting are 404 errors on the sidebar and top of my screen, where I would generally see ads... What's up?

The Western Union one on the main screen...everytime you close it, it opens back up and it covers recent posts etc. and you can't click to get past it!

I would like to thank ATS and more importantly SO for moving to the new advertising venue , I now know that when seeing an 404 in place of an ad, that the new ad server is living up to it's claims. It's real nice knowing that the chances of an bad advert sneaking through has now dropped tremendously.

Thank You Thank You

I just got a virus attack from an ad. I am not able to get any information on the ad itself, because my computer basically shuts down when it happens due to the virus detection.

The only thing I noticed was that the banner was not the right size, very low quality and just said "Credit Score" with some number on it. It was I guess about a 70X70 square.

Doesn't help the net neutrality thing when I get these about once a week on ATS.

Why are the ads popping open on my screen without me clicking them? Sometimes they pop up when I'm reading a thread and my cursor is nowhere near them. Luke Wilson is a nice guy, I've even met him, but enough is enough, I'm thinking of leaving the board due to all the interruptions. At&t is the worst offender, Ho Medics is next worst.

*Bump*

It keeps happening with any ad that is at the top of the page. It is distracting, annoying, abrasive, obnoxious, irritating, etc, etc, etc. I will keep posting on this thread until a response is received.

This OfficeMax 3M labels ad is now getting on my nerves after a week or two:
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/e38735e1a5fb.png[/atsimg]

It automatically pops up on an overlay over the Flash ad when loading a page. Thereafter, rolling over it brings the overlay back up. Clicking outside the rectangle dismisses the popup.

At least I now know from whom I won't ever purchase labels if I can help it.

SO, can we please kill the A to Z Nissan year end close out sale ad, it like to open up and cover half the page, and this ad you do not even have to mouse over, it does it automaticaly

Is there anyway that you can request the ads to be required to stay within the banner area, and not flash over into the page itself?

The dead celebrities that are now alive thread keeps redirecting me to a full page add for smiley central.

I have not clicked anything or even moved my mouse and it has done about 5 times.

Actually I just tested it again and it only does it if I am logged out.

I've just come in to whine about the CSI ad that keeps 'dropping down' when I'm trying to do anything.

It's too big and, although not as bad as some of them have been, is extremely annoying.

Why do we have to have ads that do this? Why can't we have ads that just stay in one place where we can ignore them?

Just so everyone knows - I have no interest whatsoever in CSI and this rotten ad won't persuade me to watch it. The ad is achieving nothing besides irritating me.

Which is more or less what I said about the last one that misbehaved in this way.

Really, please don't have any more of them.

Gawd almighty!
Will someone please get rid of the Sprint ad that takes over 50% of the screen.

Just as it applies to members, there should be some T&C's for these freakin' ads.

This advert has come up the last 3 times that I've used ATS.

It is really annoying me now!

It closes the current ATS window, and replaces it with a mimic XP window telling me that I've got viruses on my computer, it completely closes ATS down though, the address bar links too this url 'http://91.213.157.33/index.php?q=5b3019393d58f1c163cd3cf1ef49abf09110220' it tries too force an exe download on me when anything on that page is clicked called insta.exe, I've seen these kinda things a million times, and I'm pretty sure that'll be a bunch of adware/spyware!

I've been surfing here 7 years and I don't think I've ever seen something this bad before, now, nothing will tear me away from this forum, although if new users are experiencing similar things they may think twice before returning.

I'm on windows 7, with IE.8

Not to speak for the mods/admins, but it's not an advertisement. What you've got is an infestation of adware already on your computer.

The ones that look like this are generally some offshoot of Vundo, virtumonde, peper/sandboxer, or SpySheriff.

This can be REALLY hard to remove. I do it for my friends; it can take hours. If you're not pretty OS literate you may have some difficulty. I recommend that you immediately back up your drive, preferably using a boot-from-cd clean environment backup software like ShadowProtect's recovery media, because these tend to hide copies everywhere, and the guy at the local BestBuy may end up nuking your real files.

Oh, in addition, I found a new Vundo the other day on our honeypot/sacrifice system that sits outside the firewall, when I started cleaning it off it retaliated by erasing the windows32 subdirectory and registry. So the newer ones are much more aggressive. You might be able to save your personal stuff if you back up now, and do it before you try any AV programs.

I reckon the 'Conspiracy Chicks' trailer has got to be in this list of worst ads ever.

I clicked on the picture and was re-directed to the embedded video. Then, my AVG blocked it because it detected a major threat - what's that all about? - I've never before had that on ANY other site, and I go on to some 'unusual' sites.
