N Korea vows more missile tests

North Korea has confirmed that it has test-fired a series of missiles and said it would continue launching them.

It also warned of "stronger physical actions" if the international community tried to put pressure on Pyongyang.

The North launched seven missiles, one of which was a failed test of a long-range Taepodong-2, believed to be capable of hitting Alaska.

The UN Security Council is due to reconvene later to discuss a draft resolution in response to the launches.

The document, co-sponsored by the US, UK and Japan, calls for sanctions against North Korea, but differences in approach are already emerging among key powers.

news.bbc.co.uk...

We willl probably see a lot of this in the next coming months, North Korea will threaten to fire more missles and talks of "act of war" and "nuclear strikes" to keep the attention it already has. Kim Jong Il wants one-on-one links with America, but America will not grant him those talks. He failed to scare America with his uber missle.

"stronger physical actions"

Nuclear test?

Must be what the The White House is hoping for, it would make China and Russia very unhappy....unless they would be in on it.

yes - what is Mr.China saying about this?

Are they waiting for the American fleet to come closer?
And the BAM!

They could destroy the entire fleet in 30 minutes..
Oh boy!! - i should be a general.

That would be smart - i mean... From a war-nut-craker point of view..

That would make sense..
Make the blood thursty American's get closer to Korea - they would be within range of both Russia and China..

If American fleet got closer to that area..
They could run into a communist Trap.. And be smashed by the Red Hammer!!

Hmm - where is the Bermuda triangle - is that around that area?

At the same time China could crush Taiwan - and murder all the land..
Ohhh boy - i see a world war comming...
Now while this was happening - Iraq would attack...anything

About North Korea's wanring of 'stronger physical actions'?

I don't know, but before that statement, China had urged for 'calm and restraint'.

China watches, and China waits. It does not need military action to impose itself on the world.

I knew a WW2 Royal Navy Veteran, he was a Socialist too, which further added to something he said that I still think about today.

I asked him about the lead up to WW2, and whether he sees similarities now.

He leant forward, he of 98 years, and said to me in a clear but sober tone:

"China. They're the ones to watch."

i know it goes against the grain of most of you people here. but do countries like iran and n korea have the right to exist. they know the only way they will keep there countries is to have nuclear weapons.

do these countries not have the right to have there own choices, or do you think america and london should decide who runs what, and to hell with what those people want.

From what I've heard, China and Russia are siding with NK, suggesting that no penalties should be enacted. Hmm, It seems to me like China and Rusia automatically take the side opposite the US. They did this in regards to Iran as well didn't they? I wonder if they all know something we don't.

Iran/Persia has existed for thousands of years, North Korea has existed since 1948, and has existed as a part of Korea for thousands of years.

Calling their right to exist into question.....erm, that's concerning.

As to whether they have the right to nuclear weapons, I detest nuclear weapons, but if the US, UK, Russia, France, China, Israel, India and Pakistan can have them, what gives anyone the right to say Iran and North Korea can't?

Anything else is double standards.

And I don't think anyone can say "ah but Iran/North Korea's leaders are mad/dictatorial!"

Pakistan is ruled by dictatorship, as is China, and Russia's democracy is not healthy, and Bush does not fill me with confidence.

If they can have them without so much as a protest, why such a fuss over Iran and North Korea?

China and Russia see themselves as forming a bulwark to US influence, an opposing polar view of the world.

Iran provides lots of oil to China, and I think Russia gets gas from them too, so Iran is an asset to them both.

As for NK, China and Russia don't want a war between the US and North Korea on their doorstep.

US troops on their doorstep? Hmm? They won't like.

It also keeps the US tied up diplomatically, China and Russia opposing everything.

I would love if you could say Mr.China and Mr.Russia - And Mr.America..
Cause we are talking about billions of people... Being lead into a war between these leaders..and generals.

The worst thing that happens during war, is to become what they want you to become. I know it's hard to let go of that idea of being part of a country idea of the enemy.
If you start think like all the other soldiers - there will be a war.

Oh i hate this part.. Where we become divided cause what we see on TV - or on the News web pages.
Im sorry if im confusing you but i take no stand, but my own...

And i love all the Americans on this Board - and English people - or german.. And if we had Korean people on this board - we would proberly like their point of view too..

But you see - the propaganda reaches far deeper into your mind than you and i realize..at first.

But i think people who join this board - do it cause they want the truth...They want a good truth that they, And we, can handle in our daily life - that is now being taken over by the media - People on this board just don't look at the TV..They go beound.
And that is very healthy... Cause TV do not awnser your questions when you yell at it.. Or get mad at the persons performing their act's and duties on TV..

TV is >one-way-communication> only. And that is the essense of control...

In this place - we understand that there is no enemy - but the Media... Or we should understand that. Cause here!! The TV speaks back - or awnser your questions...
Here we can bounce to the news network and back here - and actually discuss the news they pull over our heads...

Billions of people don't do like we do here on ATS... Billions of people Eat the news RAW and uncensored by the free will.

You people are so - cool.
That you actually see that there is a crazy game being performed infront of our eyes...And we are so damn skeptical...About what is happening. I don't trust American Generals, and i don't trust Korean or Russian Generals...I trust the people of this planet. Leaders should be seen as a lower race, like they divide us - Into believe that if you do not have a job, you might as well go die in the hole we told you to dig. Arbeit mach frei... Aber doch?

Who must work as slaves to pay bills... In a mindless system that want to destroy our spirit - and Earth.

Im glad we are here - before the planet goes up in flames - cause you are the people i will remember after the Internet have been shut down and the cities are destroyed. And i know - that other countries are no enemy of mine...Because of you - we are not enemies - and there is no enemies... But the Corrupt system of Money, and banks. The root of all evil.

Leaders don't love you... Why would they shut down the internet if they loved you? Why would they spend money on Machineguns and bullets.. if they loved you..

And yet we trust our leaders... And hold the pyramid up and running.

I think they want the ultimate war... They just need a place to start it...
But i think they need to shut down the internet - cause WE CAN SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO THIS PLANET!!

these leaders are ignorant fools..not us. And they should be shot with paintballs in their ass... On publich squares - i agree. yellow pink and purpel. Cause they are leading us into selfdestruction.. Cause we love them..And trust them..And their media crap.

(please continue - How many miles can a warhead destroy in a city center? ect.)

"stronger physical actions"

Nuclear test?

Must be what the The White House is hoping for, it would make China and Russia very unhappy....unless they would be in on it.

North Korea are years away from being able to develop nuclear ICBMs:

U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said the multiple firings posed no threat to U.S. territory...

...Experts say that Pyongyang is developing long-range missiles to have the capability one day to deliver a nuclear bomb, but that it is years away from acquiring such a weapons system.
Source.

I know you wouldn't think that, the way the puppet media which has been brainwashing you since birth blows it out of all reasonable proportion, but that's the fact. The notion that N.Korea could do anything to harm the United States with one of these laughable bottle rockets is quite frankly absurd. Maybe one day, but not today.

Why would the puppet media focus so acutely on these weapon tests?

In 2002, President Bush withdrew the US from the 1972 anti-ballistic missile treaty, and some elements of the defence system have now been installed in Alaska and California, though their effectiveness is in some doubt.

Funding for the system is running at nearly $8bn this year, more than double what it was in 1998.

"A launch of the Taepodong-2 would give a boost to those supporting missile defence in the US," said Mr Fitzpatrick.

Yes.

What I was saying was, North Korea would hope the phrase "stronger physical actions" would give off the thought of nuclear weapons.

Hans Blix calls it the "Beware Of The Dog" sign.

You have the sign, the warning, but no Dog.

There's a little bit of patronisation in your post there, which is unneeded.

I know about what you have posted, and I agree.

The media whips things up, and it makes good headlines to see a missile test.

North Korea may hope that the phrase it used would conjure thoughts of nuclear tests.

The White House would seize on this, and China and Russia won't like it because:

A) It would make them think: Hang on....is there something we don't know about?

B) They may feel it would commit North Korea to back up it's words in time to come.

Russia and China have always opposed everything we do. Since I can remember anyway. So just assume they are going to, no matter what. If a giant asteroid was heading toward earth, and the U.S. wanted to destroy it, Russia and China would surely urge calm and restraint, and say they wanted the issue resolved diplomatically....

I got (or had) a question that has already pertly been Awnserd.

so, STRONGER PHYSICAL ACTION I wanted to ask What Exactaly would that be

NUCLEAR FORCE ASIDE!!! What Are they Capable off Conventionaly?

I woulden't of thought they could do anything? I know they have lots n lots of solders but they can't shoot us from over there can they:-)

They Can't Attack USA, any of there Jets will just get ~Shot Down

Is a Nuclear Attack the ONLY thing they can do? and if it is That HAS to be what they mean by STRONGER PHYSICAL ACTION?

Besides it would be impossible for them to hit USA with a nuke for reasons I don't really need to Explain. They can't hit Any Close stationed UN Military With nukes:1 the target would be to small to hit and :2 that would be like REALLY REALLY Supid to activate a nuke anywhere in the surounding areas for themselvs aswell

It's just bluster, they would probably be able to hit some of our forces in S. Korea but they would get their arses handed to them pretty quick IMO. Wars are different now than when we fought them last, but I hope it doesn't come to that. I think they're embarassed by the performance of their dong and are just verbally lashing out now, lol.

With that though, I say leave us out of it.
If he is playing a big game of beating his chest, why dont we just ignore him. Let japan and SK deal with him.
It reminds me of the big bully drunk in the bar. Trying to pick a fight with us and some other people. Why cant we turn away and ignore him. I am sure there is a political reason. Sucks that seeing things this way is just not that easy on a global scale.

I agree, I suspect they're just talking smack because their clunky ICBM blew up midflight.

While they probably do have a few nukes, they are it's unlikely they have anything they can put on a missile yet.

On the other hand, they do have enough artillery to flatten and gas Seoul - but that would be almost as likely to get them nuked as actually using a nuke would.

As far as hitting US forces, IIRC most of our troops in SK have been moved away from the border, well out of their artillery range.

They don't really have a lot of military options - at least options that aren't essentially suicidal.
