An Ilyushin 76 landed in Mogadushu last Wednesday. The plane was allegedly loaded with weapons to the Islamic militia with regards from Eritea. Eritrea supports the Islamists and might be fighting a proxy war against Ethiopia in Somalia.

A mysterious Russian-built cargo plane believed to be loaded with weapons landed in this capital Wednesday, setting off a fresh round of allegations that Somalia has become a proxy battleground for its neighbors Eritrea and Ethiopia.
The United States and other Western powers have cautioned outsiders against meddling in Somalia, which has no single ruling authority and can be manipulated by anyone with money and guns. But there's little sign the warning has been heeded. Somalia's virtually powerless government charged on Wednesday that the Ilyushin-76, only the second flight to land at Mogadishu International Airport in a decade, was packed with land mines, bombs and guns.
The new proxy fight between Ethiopia and Eritrea is officially denied by both countries, despite witness accounts and reports by the United Nations describing Somalia's plight.

If I am not mistaken, there are indeed reports that there is oil in Somalia...Unexplored reserves much like Sudan. No wonder why China is supplying weapons to the Sudanese government to commit genocide. So they can get the oil, same with the US. Poor Africa is always raped.

The problem is that Africa has been this way since time began and will never change.
Think about the people you are dealing with here, they all grew up with malnutrition and war and anyone that had any brains got out a long time ago. Malnutrition alone has created a society of almost total mental retardation and then you throw in some good drugs and guns and a few religious leaders and there you have it.
The only thing that America did wrong was to feed a people that were overpopulating a area of the world that can not sustain that population.

I understand that that sounds very bad but a lot of it is true. The effects of generations of malnutrition are well documented and over population is
a big problem. I do not hate these people but the world is a vicious place outside of a few modernized countries.
The Islamists have taken another key city in Somalia. They seized Bandiradley, north of Mogadishu. The Islamists say they are now planning to march on
Galkayo, a major town in Puntland. The warlords said they only did a "tactical retreat" from Bandiradley and claim they were not defeated...

Seems like the Islamists might have lost a battle near Baidoa, NW of Mogadishu. The transitional government claims victory and say they have inflicted
heavy losses on the Islamists. They say hundreds of Islamists are dead while other hundreds are wounded.

Baidoa is heavily fortified and protected by a large contingent of Ethiopian troops but its defenses will not hold, intelligence sources tell Pajamas Media. Ethiopia has allied itself with Somalia’s embattled transitional federal government.
Reached by Pajamas Media, Dahir Jibreel, the transitional government’s permanent secretary in charge of international cooperation, confirmed that a massive offensive is underway. Jibreel said that the ICU launched an “offensive on the seat of the government from three directions: Burkhakabo, Idale and Dinsor.”
Jibreel is guardedly optimistic, noting that the Islamic radicals “sustained heavy losses.”
“They will overrun Baidoa,” a military intelligence officer told Pajamas Media. “It’s only a question of when.”

Highlights and excerpts from the report: confirm that Syria, Iran, Eritrea, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya and Saudi Arabia have all sent military personnel, weapons or military supplies including food and medicine to the Islamists, based in Mogadishu. While Ethiopia, Uganda and Yemen have all sent weapons and military equipment to the interim government, holed up in its sole outpost in Baidoa.

I'm not sure if that was directed at me. If it were: I'm not american. I have no interests in defending or attacking the US or making threads about US inventing HIV. And I've never claimed that the US has supplied weapons to Somalia. I've claimed that Viktor Bout have transported weapons there. One of his planes is landing in Mogadishu in the photo at the top of this page.

Sorry, I hadn't even read your posts, just the oh so common opening accusations that the US was shipping weapons to Somalia, killing baby seals, and working with aliens to dominate the World.
This thread will probably quieten down now that the facts have been released, after all, there's no fun in insulting the Eritreans or Libyans.
