After reading the posts just above yours... I can just imagine the comments you're going to recieve... granted, humor is needed at times, but boy... is there a difference here!

I understand perfectly what you mean, though. I don't use words, however... what I found to work best, though, are a couple lit candles by a dresser mirror... it's larger, so it has more room for detail...

I once experienced a wall mirror "open" into a tunnel/ hallway... that was something I won't forget! (I think what confuses people here is that they are thinking a physical change rather than a mental one)...

Ya, I saw the risk I was taking but figured it was worth it. Thanks for your reply, BTW!!

Words or speaking isn't always an event. Since really it is not needed anyway. Just as people can speak to each other using nothing but their eyes. Speaking "Selves" do not ever need a spoken word to speak volumes through eye contact. I find it amusing still that even thoughts will use words when speaking to "Self" sometimes as well as pictures. Yet the real strength or meaning behind the "words and pictures" is where the intent and value is at. It's then that I realize how easy conversations between two people can mean totally different things from each perspective. The spoken words often come in quite late if at all, and usually seem to represent more of a game or friendly challenge of verbal exchange. Best I can describe it anyway. I never even thought about candles but I'll try it. It never even seemed like a strange thing or mystical or anything until I realized how many people have never done it.

That would be interesting!! I've never had an event like that myself, that I remember anyway. Well atleast not sober. Which brings up another point. I've talked to many people who have taken psychedelics and had bad experiences looking into the mirror at themselves. (This I can understand of course as the fabric of reality is a bit more playful.) Once again though I rather enjoyed it. However that experience and the earlier stated one differ quite a lot in that the naturally induced "selfless state" is much more crisp and understandable in it's nature.

actually.. I think I know what you mean. I occassionally also get the same strange feeling..but, I do not actually feel like a viking haha..just a different person. Actually this only really happened to me in a noticeable way once.. it was about 2 months ago and I was dealing with some depression issues and not sleeping a lot and such.. I would basically just lay in bed and not even bother to get up or do anything unless i had to either work or go to school.. buy anyway, I had this dresser mirror that sat beside my bed because i put it over this big window in my room to keep out excess light, and one night i was crying and i stared in the mirror for a *looonnng* time..im talking like maybe for about an hour or more.. i just stared at it.. and i began to feel like someone else..i became very confused and i felt as if i had betrayed my real self, and i felt that i was seeing my real self right then at that very moment, and i had never really paid attention to it before.. i got pretty upset and confused for a couple of days and didnt talk much for the next week..then i guess that feeling sort of wore off.. but, anyway, perhaps what you experience is in a way similar, because, while I did not feel like a viking or something as you say you felt, I did momentarily get this rushing feeling of pride for this other person prior to the feeling of disgust that i eventually felt for myself.. i hope that made sense. but i think i know what you mean..

hey i hear u...if one looks into a mirror with a quite mind (no, not the mirrors mind..ha ha) u will tend to 'see' yourself in a different light..and it has nothing to do with how atractive or unatractive u think u look. i think we begin 2 c ourselves on a very different level of reality. U may bee remebering a 'past life' or something. when i look in to the mirror, i generaly c somebody who is not...me..for lack of a better term. as i sit here typing, i watch my fingers ('cause i never learned how to 'officialy' type
) it is like i'm watch somebody elses fingers, or arm or leg. it really feels like it's not 'me'.
weird...remember, u r not alone

This sounds easier to do that it actually is...

If one is able to stare at a mirror eye to eye, meaning your left eye stares into the reflection of your left eye, and your right eye stares into the reflection of your right eye...odd things can happen.
(most people, when looking at their own face, or the face of someone else, tend to look at one eye or the other.)

You must be very close to a mirror (like 6-18 inches away)
and stare eye-to-eye. I have done this in the past (only a few times) and I have experienced the same feeling expressed here of a disconnectness to the face in front of the mirror. Going further, I have witnessed that thing around my pupals (my face) completely transform into "someone else". I have seen two distinct "someone elses"....The first one being a person who looked like a very old chinese man, and the other, a very old lady that reminded me of some kind of ancient Druid mystical lady. I have the impression that these other people are 2 of my past lives.

Maybe you were a Viking in a past life.

"Mirror Work" can be very powerful stuff, not for the fragile.

THE EYES ARE THE WINDOW TO THE SOUL.

Now you've done it. I absolutely have to try this now. I hope I don't see something I don't like.

Maybe I was a hot chick in a past lifetime.

This is kinda cool. Anyone ever seen one?
I wouldn't mind mirror gazing in one of these, I wonder what the effect would be like.

Desmichels... great avatar! That is really somthing...

About the distance between self and mirrors... the smaller the mirror, the closer I have to be... the larger, the further. I guess it is just how much of a visual you want to see...

So has anyone (new) tried this with mirrors yet? It CAN be quite disturbing sometimes, especially if you don't want to see something else... OH! Mentally prepare yourself, too... don't go ito this without a specific goal in mind... if you leave yourself open, you will see... other things, but not what you had intended!

a couple of motnhs ago i did this.

i was about 3inches from the mirror saring into my own eyes, im not shure what or who i saw but i ended up in a kind of Sh!t Scared state, when i asked my mum what she thinks happened she said something along the lines of.

"when you look into your own eyes in the mirror you see your past lives and/or your inner self"

i still cant remember what/who i saw but it freaked me out.

i wonder what it would be like to look into the mirror and see something like donnie does (donnie being the character from the movie donnie darko)

I am not sure why, but reading this post sparked my memory of doing the same thing. I didn't really see anything but like a light switch I felt like something had changed. I got a little weirded out and stopped looking.

I felt like I was issuing a challenge by facing the mirror in a way that was deeper than the usual casual glance.

I wonder if I could get the same reaction from any reflective surface. Has anyone tried different surfaces?

Hi guys.... I 'll quickly throw in my few pennies on the subject.

What you are doing when you stare at your reflection in the mirror (dim the lights and light some candles for best effects) is called mirror dancing. I have done it several times with mixed results. I think the key is to relax and let your eyes just go slightly out of focus..... kinda like your looking at one of those 'Magic Eye' Pictures where the image appears to you after you have stared at it for a few minutes.

I recommend Glen Morris's book 'Path notes of an american .. Master' for more info on the subject.

His take on it is - as someone else mentioned - is that you are seeing yourself in past lives... your face changes... features change.. Hence you seeing a Viking.

Vampires don't cast reflections.

Jah.

You should get some past life regressions of some kind... I got the same impressions shortly before I started having dreams of past lives... Perhaps its an awakening of sorts...??? Or, for some reason, something you knew in that life is needed for this one, so your unconscience is trying to remind you of the knowledge....

I sometimes look in the mirror and i dont "see" myself I see another person looking back at me, its my reflection but it just feels as if theres someone else inside. And i get a feeling of a viking (dont have a clue why)!
It only happens now and again, but its a little scary when it does. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Happens to me a lot, but no Viking.

I suddenly have a vast memory of an ancient race, no longer on earth, but wandering in space for an answer to everything. It only happens for a split second, and I am never able to control when it happens.

I can remember wars, an entire history, but not for long, it only happens for a second, things that I could never imagine! Some scary, some pleasant, others so horrifying I have to turn away and pretend it never happened.

Sometimes it happens in my dreams too.

I was looking into a mirror once while on LCD (only ever done it twice). You don't want to know the crazy stuff I was seeing.
