I agree with your logic, and I had also heard the remaining members fled to Scotland and joined up with Robert the Bruce. As I said, many masons have looked for this connection hoping to find it, yet so far, none have come up with the big clue.

Well it's not like they could go around announcing they were Templars. The Church thoroughly ruined their reputations and they were wanted men, so they would have to had shed the Templar identity for good even in Scotland.

And why would stone masons in Great Britain get involved in mystery religions of the east. Kind of strange, don't you think. I know Masons have some mythology about how it was passed down through the ages, but it really doesn't fit. In fact the Templar explanation is far more believable IMHO because we know they were practicing eastern mystical traditions that they picked up in the Holy Land.

It so easy to imagine them being the precursor to Masonry in some way even if it is not a direct link.

Except there is evidence that Masonry predates the Templars by a couple of hundred years.

Can you show any links for the evidence?

Also, do you have an estimate on Freemason numbers in the U.S?

I don't feel like they killed every Templar. It was much easier to hide back then than it is today.
Many of them had to escape to somewhere.

How many Templar's were actually rounded up and killed?
How many Templars were thought to be in existence at the time?

I've learned a few grips and passwords and still have never found a real use for them.

When you are abducted by the Grey's, slip them the EA grip. They will probe you gently.

Read the analysis done on the Regius Poem.

Also, do you have an estimate on Freemason numbers in the U.S?

Stephen Dafoe, Past Grand Historian of the Sovereign Great Priory of Knights Templar of Canada, wrote a great book debunking many of the myths concerning the Templar continuation myths and Freemasonry.

Far from it. The biggest area of Templar suppression was in France, but most were not killed even there. In England, the monarch was reluctant to arrest any of the Templars and it took enforcers sent from the Pope to do even minimal enforcement of Templar suppression. In Germany, a group of Templar knights appeared at their trial in full battle array and shockingly enough, they were found innocent of the charges. In Spain, they merely disbanded the group in name and just called themselves the Order of Christ. Most likely, some knights did go to Scotland while most just joined other groups or just melted into the society of the nation they were in.

Was reading through this link and realized, upon inspection it is over 10 years old. o.O

In any event, I remember reading a good book on the Knights of the Temple, or Knights Templar (singular, not like the thread title "Templars") titled Dugenon Fire and Sword that does a real good job giving the history of the Knights Templar, and is a sure good read.

As for speculation I don't intend to go there.

Ok. A good history lesson about how the Knights Templar were formed, and played a key part in the Crusades. Jam packed full of action, and historical events, it would keep the even most causal reader enthralled.

Details the rise and cause of the Knights of the Temple, the formation of their banking system throughout Europe and the Near Middle East, the rise of the Saracins, and Saladin, and even beloved characters such as King Richard are brought to life, a homosexual who was really a pretty violent and evil man, when arriving in the "Holy Land" had every single inhabitant of Jerusalem beheaded in front of the Muslim army.

And also details the downfall and the supposed end of the society. You know where Friday the 13th comes from don't you?
