Ok,

For those who believe the bible is the word of god, and it it always right and nenver wrong, here is a link for you. I am not trying to say any religion is superior to any other (as you can find things like this for any religion), but it is something for your mind to chew on.

Biblical Contradictions.

Some of my favorites.
Is Jesus equal to or lesser than?
JOH 10:30 I and my Father are one.
JOH 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

Righteous live?
Ps.92:12: "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree."
Isa.57:1: "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart."

CRUEL, UNMERCIFUL, DESTRUCTIVE, and FEROCIOUS or KIND, MERCIFUL, and GOOD:
"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (Jer. 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."
"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (James 5:11)
"For his mercy endureth forever." (1 Chron. 16:34)
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (Ps. 145:9)
"God is love." (1 John 4:16)

Judging
1 Cor 3:15 " The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:" (NIV)
1 Cor 4:5 " Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God."

That give you the idea of this link.

Have we gotten to the point yet where someone starts shrieking "NAZI!!!!" at the other person and we can declare the thread dead?

*c'mon, guys... debate the points and quit yelling names at each other.*

..That God did not create religion, man did, religion itself seems to be some kind of "power in numbers thing" to me,a contest to see how many can be converted,an experiment to see how many unquestionably inherit the religions of their parents.
I am Christian by description only,I do not associate myself with any particular religion, because the bible does not steer me that way in any obvious sense, once you get past the manipulations of it which are there to pigeonhole you into a specific religion.
I wasn't looking for God when I found God, the door was open,God just showed up one day to make it known to me there was more than this.

You know what is really starting to irritate me about this thread??? There were some threads I started (70 Weeks of Daniel, The Unskeptical Skeptic Part 1 which was incorporated into another thread, The Unkseptical Skeptic - Revised) which were the culimnation of many hours of effort. A minimum of 50 web pages were researched to produce those articles. Those were the threads I wanted people to read and comment about. They died after a few reads. Here I post I thread of a page which I stumbled onto and I made a simple quick posting intended for a few people to read (some people I know who are Christians). Now everybody is commenting on this thread - where were your comments when I wanted them. Now because of this thread I have been called a liar and a cheat among other things. No one read the threads I generated that needed to be read and were the result of much effort, everyone is reading the thread I just threw together on the spur of the moment. I have just grown very tired of the game.

the hateful language in my original post? You are just p*ssed because someone made a
post which made atheists look foolish. You think it is great when someone makes a post
which makes theists (especially Christians) look foolish. Get over it. Here you are getting
into a hissy fit for a Christian doing something you do all the time.

Why would I be mad? I'm not an atheist. You only make yourself look childish. Do you remember what my first comment was?

As for the death of Christ on the Cross. Here is an quick explanation. You will
understand or not depending on how you view the world.
1. God has a perfect sense of justice. Sin must receive a punishment. The results of sin is
separation from God (or Hell).
2. God has perfect love for his creation. He desires all men to come to know him and be
in his presence (Heaven).
3. God cannot violate His character. Sin deserves the wrath of God. God must vent his
wrath for sin.
4. God sent the Son to this world to live as the perfect man and to die on the cross.
During this process God vented His wrath on Jesus for our sins. Thus Jesus took the
wrath of God for our sins.
As an analogy suppose you are in a court for your life and the judge says, Pay a fine of
ten million dollars of be executed (There have been such courts and are still such courts
in this world.) You are broke. It looks like you are going to die. Suddenly there is a
voice from the court room, Here your honor, is a check for ten million dollars. You
know me and you know my check is good. You look around and see a man you have
never seen before. He gives the judge the check. The judge takes the check and turns to
you and says, The ten million dollar fine has been paid, you are free to go.

To point it simply:
1. God requires a fine to be paid for sin, to suffer his wrath.
2. Jesus paid that fine by suffering the wrath of the Father.
3. We can accept that payment as a gift if we so choose, but we must ask for it; it is called
imputed righteousness.
4. We must be viewed as being sinless to be permitted in Gods presence. The
acceptance of the Gift of Jesus on the Cross imputes righteousness into us so that we can
be viewed as sinless by God.

Heaven is Gods Kingdom, His home. Just as you have house rules for your home. He
has house rules for His Home. Just as you expect people to follow your rules when they
come into your home, God expects people to follow His rules when they enter into His
Home. One of the rules is that you are viewed as being completely sin free before
entering. Well if you accept the death of Jesus Christ on the cross as your payment for the
wrath fine required for you sins, then God views you as being sinless. As I said, you will
understand this or not depending on your world view.

Jag, I don't go under what you say I do. I will tell where I and many of the less ignorant people go.

We go under Hmmm, a woman sleeps around on her husband then to cover it up she says she is a virgin and it is gods baby. Now, we also know that virgin meant young female, not never had sex. But according to christians she never had sex since she was a virgin, but virgin meant young female. I have put that down before, but christian being christians only read what they want and skip the rest. Like in the bible where it says "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." Psalm 137:9, KJV Yet no christian reads that, they read a part stolen from the Jews where it says "Thou shalt not kill" and go we better than you because we have this so go to hell!

Then a world wide flood. No proof of this happening in past 35,000 years that modern humans have been around. Well, church says 6,000 for everything, but us atheists using science and facts and reality know that just wrong.

Then Adam and Eve. Hello, inbreeding! If there was only Adam and Eve we would never exist. Why? Inbreeding would have caused so many deformities we would have all died! Proof? Look at "pure" breed dogs. After awhile they can no longer be breed for they cause deformities due to being inbred.

Babylonian Tower. First, god isn't in the clouds, so no reason to knock it over. Second no one would have lived the fall if the tower was that big.

Jesus. David Copperfeild and con-artists can do everything he did. I rest my case.

God talking to people. In the past god talked to everyone. Today we aren't that ignorant and know the person is crazy.

Well, I have so much more, but if I make it too lengthy no one will finish reading it. Heck, bet Jag stops after first paragraph to tell to go to hell, hear a bell, a cow bell, ding! ding! ding!

This thread could go on and on.

When believers realize that hatred and discrimination is used by athesists to attack your beliefs.

Is it against the law? YES!

Don't feed into them.

and the alternate list "reasons god DOES exist"

1. My parents told me he does.
2. My church says he does and they are good people, they wouldn't lie.
3.The bible says he does and it has been around a long time and has some historical events in it so it must be 100% true.
4. If you don't believe you are going to hell.
5. supporting war and murder are two different things, so god does not contradict himself, therefore he must be real.
6. Well ya he demanded sacrifices in the old days but now he just makes us worship and glorify him... no that is not pride that is just....hey stop asking these questions. He is a god of love, he is benevolent. He doesn't really demand anything in return other than worship and obediance, that is unconditional love if I ever saw it.
Oh lets not go on......

I *don't* believe that the Bibel is the One True Word of God...And not only due to the apparent self-contradictions contained within. For one thing, how many *different versions* of the Bible exist? Even the Koran (which is based from Abraham's teachings & is touted as never having been altered in text or context) is based upon the changes from Original Scripture.

And even then people need to realize that *any* scriptures ever written have been wrought by the hands of *men*, not God; Where is any proof that God Himself took up parchment & quill to write *any* version of the Scriptures?

The one potential exception is when God wrote the Ten Commandments for Moses...And those Laws were (literally) carved in stone. How can we even be sure that what those stone tablets said was even inscribed accurately into the other Scriptures? No guarantees exist that what *any* Bible (or Scripture) says is accurate or unchanged through the centuries of tampering by The Church.

---No, war & murder are *not* different; Check out God Angrily Clarifies 'Don't Kill' Rule---

---Actually, the *only* things that Gods said that He considers to be sin are breaking any of His Ten Laws; Where does those Laws say that He *demands* worship? All He asks is that, *if* you're going to worship, you should worship Him above all other gods...Also, He asks to remember the Sabbath (seventh day) to commemorate His rest after laboring on Creation. Note that He doesn't *demand* that you sorship on the seventh day, merely that you *remember* it...It's the Church (technically, the *people* who run the organization) that *demands* that you worship any damn day you can drag yourself into the Church.

Please take notice, Nephra Tari, that the comments to your post were meant to be humorously-worded refutations to your obviously-sarcastic use of "religious logic"...
