At 59, I think I'll pass muster...in fact, the first round ins on me.

I'm 20, and good looking. I should be okay, and I got second round.

That's quite an age spread between us. However, I'm hoping my son and his girlfriend will be joining us as well. He's 32, so that should work as a bridge. I wonder how old intrepid is?

I'm drinking Wellingtons, btw.

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH......DeuxEX....let me make this clear....BH refers to Benevolent Heretic. I am benevolent tyrant. BH -- Benevolent Heretic is another person altogether.

I was the first "benevolent" anything here at ATS (unless you can prove me wrong). Then Benevolent Heretic jumped on the benevolence bandwagon and has made my pseudo-life a virtual hell. Of course, I don't blame BH. I like her posts a lot and she certainly garners quite a bit of applause from the mods but I am NOT BH....I am BT, benevolent tyrant.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder. Maybe the mods have also confused me with BH. Hey.....maybe all of her applause was really meant for me??!!!!!
Hey! I want my points!

I was just looking at bodrul's map for this area and there's a few members that have added tags.

The thread is here:
www.belowtopsecret.com...

And here's a shot from the map: www.frappr.com...

There's a few ATSers in the area that have added pins to the map, and it would be interesting to meet some of the people that hang out on these boards.
But I'm not sure if I could go or not. I'm not called anxietydisorder for nothing, and public places make me panic so I don't get out much.

Maybe a couple drinks and a valium might get me there.

I'm on that map, ad...I'm guessing you didn't let it load completely before grabbing the shot. I'm sorta on the other side of SW Ontario...about a 3 hour drive west of Toronto.

It'd be nice to meet the Tag-Master him/herself.

I dunno if valium and booze goes well together, though. In fact, I'd advise against that.

You know, I was planning to go see that movie The New World in London today. It's playing at the Westmount Mall. But, damn, we got a load of snow last nite and I just got the dtive cleared.

Whadda mess!

Anyways, what I'm saying is, if that happened the day of the Toronto meet, there's no way for me to get there.

Just a heads up...living in the boonies has it's downfalls. (pun intended)

I didn't click the button at the bottom to display all markers.

You do live out towards the boonies, but I've been up through that area and it sure looks like a nice place to live.

No worries about the valium, I haven't taken one of those since the 80's, but I sure like a glass of scotch on the rocks. And it would be kinda cool to sit down with a few of the other ATSers in the region and swap stories face to face.

Your right about a nasty snow fall killing this idea, we are talking about the middle of February.
We'll see how it comes together.

EDIT: I'm a himself.............

For this Toronto meet, I'll need to fly in from Halifax. Think I can trade some points in for some air miles?

Are you sure you want to fly ATS Air? With some of the paranoid folks we have here?

It would be great to see the chissler, and Halifax is only a short hop to Toronto.
Talk to the nice people at WestJet.

I'm checking fares for ya chissler............

The February date we determined need not be set in stone. It is now 2 weeks away and, so far, only 4 people have said they will come. We can set a date further in the future to see if more people will then be willing to make the meet.

Looking at a meeting in February for Benevolent tyrant and myself means we are at the mercy of the weather. For instance, yesterday's winds and snow had me isolated with closed highways. There is also the risk of travelling for hours in stormy icy conditions.

Why not put back the date to spring and warmer weather like I suggested in the initial post? This way, a bit of rain or wind is no detriment and any other members wishing for a meet will have more time to plan.

Sneaky Dees is always full of university students...I suggest we put this off until after the last semester of the year. That would put the gathering into late May or early June time-slot. It could also allow us time to change the location if a larger number of members become interested.

Yesterday's storm spooked me a bit...

Masqua's right. After all, we do live in Canada. I don't want to put off an ATS meet. I'm looking forward to this quite a bit. However, being 52 -- an "old fart" -- I've learned prudence and foresight can be a good thing. I'd hate to find myself sitting at Sneaky Dee's, or anywhere else, drinking myself into oblivion waiting for someone to show. The weather is a definite factor. The whiteout's off of Lake Huron the other day were aptly named. And though it's quite nice clear and sunny out today, who knows what it could be like tomorrow or, for that matter, in the next fifteen minutes?

Let's agree to meet. Let's agree that we should have a meet before, say, Victoria Day and then let's work together to make this ATS Canadian ConFab happen.

As for my own opinion on a good date, I'm open though I would really prefer to eliminate the weather factor, for one, and to have a little extra time to clear my schedule and make some arrangements (two kids in hockey, swimming, basketball and other activities). Getting past February and into April would probably allow me to do this and I would suspect that others could use the time to clear their own schedules and to minimize weather complications from their travel.

Anyway, that's my thought on the subject.

Hmmm...UoT and Ryerson students, eh? I'll have to do some *cough* reconnaisance.

Anyways, I agree with Benevolent Tyrant (who is, as we all know, not benevolent heretic). Before Victoria's Day. The transportation isn't such a big deal for me, probably because I live closest to the city, along the GO rails. I'm good to go whenever y'all are ready.

It's OK, DE...BT and I are old bulls and already have our own herd. Just remember, don't run down there to get just one when you can walk down and take the time to get them all.

Young bulls...
