There's no other corroboration for that article - everything else says he's alive after surgery.

Just wait and see.

CNN

Bleeding in Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's brain has been stopped and scans show improvement Friday after a third round of surgery to treat a major stroke, a hospital official said.

Not bad for someone declared dead by another news outlet 5½ hours ago...

Reminds me of when Arafat was on his deathbed and different news sources kept saying he died, then didn't, then did. I guess speculation runs wild in these situations.

I can see why many would want to deny his death (if it did happen) and even lie about it to delay the announcement for as long as possible. It's difficult to predict the effect that his death will have over there... and even here.

We're up to our armpits in the Middle East. We will feel the impact of this death one way or another.

It's really hard for me to believe that Sharon is 'doing better' after such a critical stroke.

Just like Arafat, yes. And he did die.

I heard that he died at 1P.M. Israeli time.

So we'll see in the next few hours.
Sorry. I didn't red the post above.

More bleeding in his brain.

LONDON - The chances of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon recovering from his massive stroke became even more remote Friday after doctors reported more bleeding in his brain.

It looks like we may know soon.

I have learned it is best to listen to dreams. Yes, sometimes a dream
is just a dream ... but sometimes they are so much more.

From a psychology point of view, many things manifest themselves
in our dreams.

From a metaphysical point of view ... also many things manifest ...
such as your prophetic dreams.

For those who listen to what the bible says ... ST. Joseph and
Jacob both had dreams in which God spoke to them ... and they
were smart enough to listen to what God said in their dreams.

Marg .. I hope your dreams of war were not prophetic. I hope
they are manifests of other things in your life. I hope ...

Perhaps flyers is just the bombardment of information and the tragedy surrounding Israel now with Sharon's possible death.

I guess the middle east specially Israel will be in a precarious position until a new leader be establish and can be many dangers.

Or perhaps the new leader will be a leader that will not stop or will not be as nice when it comes to the attacks on Israel from neighboring Arabs nations.

As usual US will be there to help if things get out of hand as a possible war for the land of Israel.

I guess we just have to wait and hope that everything will be OK and a peaceful transition of power from one leader to another will be the end result.

It is more to my dream that I omitted.

Update from Jerusalem's Hadassah University Hospital director Professor Shlomo Mor-Yosef (23:00hrs Jerusalem time [EST+7]):

CT scan showed that there is no active bleeding in the brain and that intra-cranial pressure has returned to normal.

Most of the blood clots in the prime minister's brain have been drained, the doctors are working to reposition the catheter in the brain.

"There has been a substantial improvement in the way the brain looks to Hadassah neurology experts; despite the improvement, which in our opinion is substantial, the Prime Minister's condition is serious but stable."

Professor Shlomo Mor-Yosef also said, it is too early to assess extent of Sharon`s brain damage.

The only other source I could find that suggested that Ariel Sharon is dead. According to the article:

Israel Resource News Agency confirms that at about noon today, Israel time, doctors at Hadassah Hospital and security officials at the Israel Ministry of Defence in Tel Aviv were simultaneously informed that Prime Minister Sharon had died during surgery.

The article's also nice because it tells of possible reasons why his death would be hidden, if he really did die.

According to Channel 10, the official death announcement is planned for Sunday, when world markets are closed, assuming that this will suffice to accommodate the travel plans of A-list world and Jewish leaders.

Guess I'll wait until Sunday and see what happens.

Sharon had been taken for a procedural CT scan on Saturday morning to check for internal bleeding.

A Prayer For The Prime Minister

Say a prayer for the prime minister.

Say a prayer for the man who could not be broken.

Say a prayer for our shattered present. Say a prayer for our shuttered common future.

Pray for the man who could not be stilled. Pray for the man who could not be swayed.

Say a prayer for the future only he knew.

Say a prayer for the people he has left behind. The Jewish People, the people he loved, at times despite himself, despite them. The people who could not bring themselves to love him.

Pray for those of us who once embraced him, and came to curse him.

Pray for those of us who once cursed him, and could not bring ourselves to forgive him.

Pray for those of us who once cursed him, and came to love him.

Pray for those who call themselves religious and see in this, the hand of G-d.

Pray for those who call themselves non-religious and need now to pray.

Pray for the leaders who, unable to replace him, will now succeed him.

Pray for a miracle. Pray for all of us. Pray that we may know to heal each other.

Pray for this land. That it may know the peace that he never will.

In response to many requests, the Prime Minister's Hebrew name is Ariel Ben Shmuel v'Dvora

Associated Press

Surgeons operated on the 77-year-old premier for five hours Friday to remove the blood and relieve swelling in his brain — life-threatening complications that, while not unexpected, make the prospect of survival ever slimmer, experts say.

"It sounds like a last desperate attempt to salvage something, but the prognosis must now be terrible," said Dr. Anthony Rudd, a stroke specialist at St. Thomas' Hospital in London.

Altho in this same Article, there is a Statement made by the Isreali Dr. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, director of Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, that Sharon "showed "significant improvement".

That doesn't surprise me much.

your bold quotation is from "a stroke specialist at St. Thomas' Hospital in London" - this man may well know what he is talking about in general.

But I am very sure, Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, Hadassah University Hospital director knows more about his special patient. And his last press briefing today at 02:00 hrs J'lem time (that is ~ 2 hours ago from now) was: "certain improvement in PM`s condition"

Everybody knows that the chances are very slim for Sharon.

But even a slim chance means: There is a chance - and even if so many already want to see him dead:

Ariel Sharon is still fighting for his life.

Latest Hadassah University Hospital Update:

PM Sharon' is still in "critical but stable" condition.

The latest scan carried out on the brain of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon showed a "slight improvement".

  • brain swelling had gone down
  • intra-cranial and blood pressure were within normal range
  • cerebral spinal fluid was draining well.

Provided there are no changes in his condition, his doctors will try to bring him out of his medically induced coma Monday morning.

Sharon s chances of survival are very high, but his ability to think and reason would be impaired.

His surgeons, Felix Umansky and Jose Cohen, ruled out the possibility of Sharon returning to serve as Prime Minister.

    Morning update:

Ariel Sharon is breathing on his own.

Israeli TV says that doctors caution that "this does not indicate any change in his status", which remains extremely severe, they also said it could take "hours or days" before we know more.

Sharon's strokes caused damage to his right brain. (The left hemisphere of the brain is called the dominant hemisphere - even in left-handers - and the right hemisphere is the non-dominant one.) Since some parts of the brain are doubled, a patient can sometimes relearn abilities and tasks up to a certain point.

That is good news.....but it is also bitter-sweet news...

his act of breathing by himself, does not translate into his being able to regain any degree of consciousness or vitality...or anything like a good prognosis for recovery....
in fact, it may still be weeks until he could 'awaken' enough from the
'twilight world' which is his reality.

on the good side, it would be joyful to witness this 77 year old leader
prevail against all odds, and defy the known science & medical experts
    (who are careful to walk-the-narrow-tightwire)

? isn't it uncanny that two 'brain injured' personalities are in the forefront of the public conscious, at the same moment in time??
(i.e. the 29 year old WV miner, the 77 year old Israeli PM)
although the circumstances & causes of the brain injuries are radically different...we (or some of us) are swept up in the drama and are prone to make comparisons,- - - -
??is this the conspiracy theorists mindsets...exposed ??

i too follow Sharons' updates @ ynet news

I have read in the News Papers today (the Printed Version), that the Relatives and Family Members of Sharon said, he had a Stroke right after the Accusations came out, that he took Bribes:

    Police suspect Sharon took bribe

Israeli police have evidence which they believe will prove that the Israeli prime minister's family received a bribe of $3 million from an Austrian billionaire, a police spokesman says.

This news was released on the 3rd of January, and the day after, Sharon was taken away to Hospital.
